For those of you wondering about riding the train....
We didn't go to Florida, but we went from Minneapolis to Chicago and got back last night.
Our train left almost 2 hours late from Mpls. on last Thurs. So, we arrived almost 4 hours late at Chicago. We were traveling in a group of 4- me, DD11, DD8, and DS7. They announced all those traveling with children 12 and under to board ahead of the other groups (also allowed sleeping car, and seniors ahead of others too I think). At Mpls, they assigned us seats. So, we all sat together. There is ample space in the train for STUFF! The kids enjoyed the trip, better than a plane they said. There were movies in the lounge car, snacks, we met new people. In general, it was fun, but terribly long.
We got back from Chicago last night, only 45 minutes later than expected. The ride was fine, again they allowed boarding of seniors and those with children 10 and under to board first. We were directed to a car to sit in, so we got to chose.
The only little thing that I thought was goofy- at one of our stops, a young lady comes up to where I was sitting, looks at a number and says she's supposed to sit where I am. ( I don't know if she really wanted to sit next to DS, but hmm?) She went and talked to the person who told her to sit in that seat, came back and said "She told me this was my seat". I said, "I'm not movin'". Poor girl was upsest, but I wasn't looking for a new seat with all that STUFF we brought on the train, and the four of us spread out all over the place. I know I would have been confused to if I was told to sit there but couldn't. Just a funny rambling I guess.....
