DH and I were on this trip together from May 15-21st. We were here for the Disney Teddy Bear and Doll Weekend but we extended the trip to 6 nights. There is only 1 small breakfast review. We ate breakfast in the room because we are not big breakfast people. I brought my own. Also, there are no reviews for Tuesday because we didnt get into WDW until midnight. We have DDE and were not on the dining plan. Sorry there are no pictures, but I hope the reviews make up for it.
Wednesday
Lunch at Trails End
We were staying at the Ft. Wilderness cabins for a couple of nights and wanted to try the restaurant there. This was my first time eating here but DH has been before. Its a buffet. The building is rustic looking with lots of old looking wood, and I feel like Im out west, which I like. I love the tin plates (not sure what theyre actually made of) you eat off of. I dont like heavy lunches so I tried to eat small portions. Plus, we were going to the spa afterward and I didnt want to feel yucky. I ate fried chicken, mac & cheese, mixed veggies (green beans, carrots, broccoli, etc.), corn, cornbread, pizza, and apple cobbler. I liked everything but the mac & cheese. The buffet also had deli meats to make sandwiches, pizza, muffins, etc. Our server was very friendly.
Dinner at Artist Point
We took the boat from Ft. Wilderness and the sun had just set so it was a nice ride. Weve never had a bad meal here. Eleanor is the hostess with the mostess! We see her everytime, and she is so nice. A great way to start a meal. We had a nice window seat that looked out into the courtyard. For appetizers, I had the Mixed Green Salad - Roasted Beets, Hazelnut Gremolata, Echo Mountain Blue Cheese, Blackberry Vinaigrette. DH had the smoky Portobello soup with Roasted Shiitakes and Chive Oil. Both were good.
For entrees, I had the cedar plank salmon with Haricot Vert, Carmelized Onions, Pork Belly, Butternut Squash and Lemon Grass Glaze, which was good as usual. DH felt bad ordering it but he had the Grilled Buffalo Sirloin Steak - with sweet potato-hazelnut gratin and sweet onion jam. He had never had buffalo but he didnt enjoy it that much (not because the restaurant did a bad job). He didnt care for the taste of the meat. For dessert, I had the berry cobbler, which is Seasonal berries and housemade black raspberry ice cream in a sponge cake. This is my favorite Disney dessert, and it was great. DH had the Coffee Two Ways - Mochaccino bread pudding and vanilla latte creme brulee, which he liked. Our server did a good job and was nice.
Thursday
Breakfast at Trails End (DH only)
He wanted the biscuits and gravy. He said breakfast was good.
Lunch at Pinocchios
We ate overlooking Small World. I had fried chicken strips with apple slices. I dont really eat fried food so this was ok. DH had pizza with French fries. We like sitting upstairs at this place but it was closed off.
Dinner at Flying Fish
The people at the front desk and our server were nice. This is one of my favorite Disney restaurants. We usually sit by the window, but this time we were more in the center. We had a view of the kitchen this time, which was something different. I really like the whimsical décor in this restaurant, especially the fish scale column. This is the first time I had eaten here with the new chef (the old one went to California Grill). All the food was good. For starters, I had the hearts of palm salad with tomatoes, avocado, frisee, and balsamic reduction. I dont care for avocado so they put it on the side. DH had the Assortment of Artisian Cheeses Paired with Fig Compote, Honey Comb, Rainsins on the Vine. I dont remember the cheeses on there but he said it was good. I tried a few and they were good. For entrees, I had one of my favorite dishes the Potato Wrapped Red Snapper with Creamy Leek Fondue and Red Wine Butter Sauce. Yum! I love the sauce so much that I think I could lick the plate clean. Of course, I didnt because I was in public. DH had the lamb, we think. Neither of us can remember what he had, and he thinks he had lamb 2 of the nights we were there so this had to be one of those times. We were too full for dessert. We eat here every trip now.
Friday
Lunch at Biergarten and Beach Club Marketplace
DH ate lunch here and I just sat with him because I dont care for the food here. DH loves it. I cant remember what DH ate but I know it included sauerkraut. We sat with a nice family. We finished before the show started so we didnt get to see it this time. Our server was nice. I ended up eating lunch from the Beach Club Marketplace because we went back to the room later. I had a turkey and cheese sub with carrots, which was ok.
Dinner at Bistro de Paris
We ate dinner here with another couple. I love the atmosphere in here and how intimate it seems. We ended up going outside to watch Illuminations before we ordered. The hostess downstairs was very friendly. Our service has always been great here but it was not good this time. Epcot was open late that night and we wanted to do some rides, but dinner was 2 ½ hours. I dont expect or want a fast meal here but it was a little too long. Along with slow service came the best food Ive ever had there. We didnt order appetizers, but one of the people we were with did but I cant remember what it was.
For entrees, I had the Seared Scallops with smoked salt flower, mashed potatoes and porcini mushrooms, dried Lomo pork and balsamic fig reduction. It was excellent. I dont eat pork so I didnt taste that. The fig reduction went really well with the scallops. DH had the Roasted Rack of lamb- with parsley and mustard crust, sun-dried tomato risotto and eggplant caviar, juice with lemon thyme. He enjoyed it. Of the other 2 people, he had the lamb and she had the Maine Lobster poached with pan-seared calamari, baby artichoke, chorizo and sun-dried tomatoes, pesto emulsion. They both enjoyed their dinners. I didnt have dessert. The other person had a mix of sorbets (which she loved), and I cant remember what others had.
Saturday
Lunch at Liberty Inn
We had never eaten here before (I could have when I was little but just dont remember). I had a grilled chicken sandwich with apple slices and Mickey rice krispie treat. I dont usually have dessert with lunch, but hey, were on vacation! DH had a hamburger. I feel patriotic eating there and I like the way its decorated the wood trim, the colors and the states flags on the walls.
Dinner at Teddy Bear Convention
We were at Disney for the Teddy Bear and Doll Weekend, which we attend every year. If you would like to see reviews and pictures, visit I Love Teddies (link in my signature). For a starter, they served a Caesar salad. For entrees, they served Seared Chicken Breast laced with a Herbed Mushroom Cream Sauce and Petite Beef Filet with a Brandy Demi. In addition, there were green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert, we had Flourless Chocolate Cake with Chantilly Cream and Raspberries. Everything was good both service and food. They serve about 200-300 people at once. I learned on this trip that the chef at California Grill is responsible for the banquets and catering too so I guess this meal fell under him. Everyone at the dinner is served the same thing unless you request a special meal.
Sunday
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons
This was our first time eating here since they redid it. The one thing I dont like about this place is it always seems so crowded and noisy in the Land. Thats the reason we havent eaten here since its been redone. I wanted to try it because of the DIS reviews. But we really didnt have to wait in line for our food so that was good. We both liked our food. We both had the vegetable entrees from the Asian section. This included rice, noodles (Udon, I think), mixed veggies, and broccoli (I think that was the 4th one). DH also had the garlic and chicken chili bowl. I cant really remember what was in it.
Snack at Beaches and Cream
We tried to eat lunch here a couple of times but the wait was always 30-40 minutes, and we didnt feel like waiting that long. So this afternoon we came here for milkshakes to go. I realize everyone has bad days, but the server was especially tired, slow, and lacking a friendly attitude. The place is so upbeat and fun and she just wasnt going along with the program. But on to the good stuff. We had vanilla milkshakes, and they were great.
Dinner at Boma
DH loves this place, and it was pretty busy that night. We usually eat around 8 pm, but we actually wanted to get an earlier reservation. The earliest they had was 8:40 pm. We got to the hotel an hour early to relax and walk around. I like that you can walk around much of the resort with your pager. I dont think I can ever remember everything we eat here but Ill do my best. I had mixed field greens with apple Vinaigrette (I love this dressing), mulligatawny soup (I dont think this was as good as before), a bite of DHs ginger carrot soup (good), pasta salad (its creamy with curry in it), hearts of palm and lentil salad (DH put his in the flaky bread thing, which I think would have made this taste better; it wasnt bad though; I don't think enough places serve hearts of palm), nut crusted salmon (good), couscous with veggies (good), something that I cant remember the name of (good; it was white with tomatoes, I think), lots of strawberries (they were so big and red that night; yum), and zebra domes (yum!). I dont remember most of what DH ate but he loves the watermelon rind salad so he went back for more. I know we both had zebra domes. Our server wasnt that great (and we usually have good service here too), and our plates were never cleared when we would come back with another plate. She just ignored us too much. But we like the food so well be back.
Monday
Lunch at Boardwalk Bakery
We picked up sandwiches here for our drive back. They dont have the sandwich I like anymore it was a turkey sandwich with curry mayo. The new one is a turkey panini with cheese and a creamy pesto sauce. It was good but I miss the curry mayo. DH had the veggie panini with portobellos, tomatoes, and some other veggies I cant remember. DH liked his; I had a bite of it and agreed.
