I have been holding off on buying PVD to Orlando for late August early Sept return. Waiting for a ding! Today I went and checked and the $99 one way is gone they went up the cheapest is $119.

there looks like there is still a lot of availability should I be kicking myself for not buying at $99 or should I still hold out for a ding??:confused3 :sad2:

I'm wondering the same thing for my trip. . .

I know how you feel. That is what happened with me last weekend. ::yes::

I was looking at $99 flights and they went to $120 on Friday! But then after the weekend, the Sale came out for Pittsburgh flights and the price went to $59 each each way. And now the July date that I have is at $34.

So I would wait a little while. I would not be surprised if you can end up with great rates.

Cheapest PVD to MCO flights from anytime I can see through November is $160.

Sorry to say, but it was only a matter of time. Gas prices are gonna affect all the airlines.

Edit: July flights from PVD are only $54 each way. That's odd.

Not necessarily. It seems that SW puts fares on sale 6 weeks or a little longer before. I have friends who were waiting for a good price PIT-MCO in early July for a couple of months. They just found good prices earlier this week. And now they are able to save $200 on THOSE prices.

Nope, You watch SW raises it's flight right before they drop them. Just be patient SW will come through. Patience is key when flying SW. You see threads like this one all the time... http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1460749

Que Kenny Rogers...
You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when youre sittin at the table.
Therell be time enough for countin when the dealins done.

I am in the same boat from Hartford. I almost pulled the trigger on the intenet special of $99 each way. Today it is $119 each way so about $200 more. I decided to try to hold out. Even though you can cancel, I am not sure I'll be able to use the credit within a year so I don't want to have to deal with that. So, I rolled the dice and I am keeping my fingers crossed!!!

I bought my ticket from BDL to TPA last week when it came down to $99 and now this morning I looked and it's on the site for $54 and it's not a Ding! Here's my question..can I rebook at that price or can you only do that when it is a Ding?

It's my understanding that if you are not making a change in your dates, or in the flight, but a lower price is published (i.e. not a ding), you can make the change and have it credited back to your card. You should call SW to double check.

And by the way, I join all of you flying out of Hartford. I noticed the price jump this morning as well. I agree that you have to be painfully patient with SW. Patience doesn't work in your favor when you're looking at very popular travel times (i.e. Feb & April vacations, Thanksgiving & Christmas), but it seems to pay off during other times. SW has definitely been playing with rates and availability since my August dates opened up. I believe that we'll all see some relief in June with either a DING or a lower rate.

Thank you! After posting, I called and the agent said I could absolutely go ahead and change the itinerary and there would be no fee! I already made the switched and put $45 in my SW funds. I'll be flying agin soon and will happily apply it. This almost becomes a game when you can make the changes so easily!:cool1:

and got less than half price. I was able to get the difference credited back to my CC after the trip - no change in flight, just price. this year I booked BDL - MCO at the $99 price for late Sept & now I'll watch for a better price. DH is going to Daytona in Feb so we can use any credit then. Unfortunately I can't load Ding at work so a couple of really way-too-nice DISers are watching my flights for me (soo sweet!!) Last year the $59 fare for late Aug came out on June 6th (have a record of the call to SW I made). So you could use that as a guide although there's no guarantee. My uneducated guess is we'll see lower than $99 at some point!!

and hey Huskies90 - big Uconn fan here!! Proud to say I have the 1999 Championship license plate "Uconn-3" and just recently met Doug Wiggins, what a great kid!!!

I hope the August prices come down. I'd love to make a spur of the moment trip with DD!:cool1:

I am waiting for Southwest for September for STL-MCO. Right now it is $176 one way.:scared1: If we were going in July the price is $64. So I guess we wait.

I'm going Sept. 9th. How long do you all think I should wait? OR Do you think I should just go ahead and get the tix now? They are 79 each way from Baltimore BWI airport.

Thanks!

Glendamax, we seem to be traveling together again! I'll be in WDW on the 7th-16th- last year we were there at the same time! I'm holding out for another SW $49 like last year- think it will happen?

I gave up tonight and booked SWA Manchester - MCO at $99 each way for our dates (8/26 and 9/2). I really wanted a specific flight each way and when I saw both available at that price, I decided to pull the trigger. (Before, one was at $129.) Last year I booked 6 weeks out at $59, but I am not willing to wait that long this year. Flight times weren't as good at $59, either.

Also factoring in was my son, who looked at me plaintively tonight and said, "but mom, you need to book our flights soon! The airplane is the most important thing, otherwise we'll never get to Orlando!" He had a point! :rotfl2:

I dont know, I'm a bit nervous. I MAY get the tix next week. Since I plan on going back in Dec, if they do drop the price of the tix, I can use the credit towards my next trip.

OK DISers! Tell us what to do! :listen:

Hi Glenda!

That would be a plan. Get the $79 ticket now, and keep your eyes open for a Ding. If you get a Ding, get credit and use that when you fly in December.

We are flying down on a Sunday in August and I don't expect a Sunday Ding, but we did get the $79 rate.

Congratulations on your DVC membership!

The "know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em" is soooo true! Hang in there, ladies (and men). July's fares are awesome and once this sale ends later this week, there'll likely be another for August. I'm in the same boat and have been watching August Hartford-Orlando fares since they came out in March, I believe. They keep bopping up to $119 or so, and then back to $99. I'm feeling pretty good that we'll see $54-$59 each way, hopefully not just for Mon-Thur. travel, but also for Fri-Sun.:wizard:
