Hi All!

Returned last Thursday evening (just in time to miss old Hurricane Charley) from a week at Cypress Pointe Phase I.

I booked a 3 bedroom villa through Hotel Kingdom for about $93 a night (including taxes, etc.)

Although I was rather apprehensive about staying here, my 21 year old told me that she thought that it was the nicest place where we have ever stayed.

We were in the 8500 building on the second floor. I had requested a refurbished room, and I don't know if it was because of the request or if we were just lucky, but it definately had been recently refurbished.

We were EXTREMEMLY pleased with all aspects of our stay here. Accomodations, size, amenities, staff, proximity to WDW, shopping, restaurants, EVERYTHING.

The only two things that my DH said that he would comment negatively about is the amount of storage in the lock out room (which we stayed in.) There is only one bureau with 3 drawers and the closet was a little small. But we managed and it was not really a big deal.

The other thing is the one thing that you read over and over regarding the CP - the open bathrooms. 90% of the time it is not a big deal. The toilet is around a corner and most of the time it is ok. There is the 3rd bathroom that has a door when you want complete privacy. The open bathroom setup is a little odd, but definately would not prevent us from staying at CP again.

Please feel free to ask any questions. :)

PS - We did do the Time Share speil for $75 Disney Dollars. There was no pressure to DO the tour, but we found it a little difficult to get away from TRENT. But that was OUR mistake, we tried to be polite and showed some interest. We might be tempted to try it again sometime, but wouldn't be so "nice" the next time. ;)

I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Since we stayed at CPGV we didn't get to enjoy the "bathroom experience" - I sure enjoyed the door! :)

Welcome back Beth!:D Do you know if they offered children's activities? Did you think it was teen-friendly? I just found out that we will be in Disney for a soccer tournament right after Christmas and I am thinking with a family of 5 (16, 7, 4), it might be nice to have some personal space and do a 2 or 3 bedroom.

Thanks!

Were you in building 8? Are you sure you had a recently refurbed room? From what I understood buildings 1, 2 and 3 were refurbed recently and 5 & 7 are suppose to begin refurb in Sept. I'm not sure about building 8, maybe it was already refurbed a few years back. Did you have the new HDTV they are putting in now?

Thanks for your post, I'm hoping for a refurbed unit in Dec!

We-e-e-ll, I DO know for sure that our unit was 85-something. Perhaps 8502 A&B??? I DON'T know for sure whether it was recently refurbished. I only based that comment on what I had read about the LR furnishings in the older units looking somewhat worn and dated. Ours did not look worn at all. And the kitchen appliances looked new. (But don't forget, my refrig here at home is 18 years old - so everything is relative. ;) )

I CAN tell you though that we did not have the HDTV. There was a big screen one in the LR - 40 inch or something. A real treat to our family. So perhaps it was a refurbished room, but not a NEWLY refurbished room??? But whichever, our unit was in great shape and we really liked it. ::yes::

lovelyk, I do know that there are children's activities, but we did not take advantage of them. On our "off" days, we just swam, slept, or went to the water parks.

I think that teens would be happy here especially if you get a unit big enough to give them "their own space." They can lounge, watch TV, do the pools, play mini golf, volley ball, walk to the shopping center located right next door.

Your family could for sure fit comfortably in the 2 bedroom unit, but if your budget allows, I would splurge and go for the 3 bedroom - your kids will love you for the space and privacy! :teeth:

sammi, I look forward to going back to CP sometime. Don't know when that will be though. :( (But that is what I have said each time that we have returned from WDW, and we keep getting back sooner than I imagined. ;) And now with knowing about getting these condos and homes at such great prices, it will just make it that much easier. :) )

LOL Beth...there's no time like the present to start planning your next visit!;)
