We are live about 10 miles or so from KSC and this was our first launch since living up here so I took a few photos, although my camera couldn't quite focus so these are the only two I got, what an awesome July 4th! All our neighbors were outside screaming and clapping it was kinda emotional... ;) It was pretty loud but for some reason less so than when the rockets have launched, hum. God Speed Discovery! :thumbsup2

How awesome is that?!? I am so excited for you. Yes...God Speed, Discovery!

Cool pictures, I knew it was suppose to go up today after being delayed, but I forgot until I saw your post. Thanks for sharing the pictures.

That rocks, I live in Miami and didn't get to see it like that, just on TV! :thumbsup2

COOL PICS!!!!

Thanks for sharing.

We can usually see it pretty well from home in West Palm Beach... but we are vacationing at our beach house on the west coast of Florida near Bradenton. We saw the launch on tv and ran out to the beach to see if we could see it but we couldn't.

Great pics, thanks for sharing... our kids were really excited about the launch.

Great pics!! I was surprised to see they covered the launch on tv today. I just happened to turn on the tv as they were doing the 2 minute countdown. Looked great on tv, but nothing comes close to being there live. I lived in Cocoa for a year back in the early 90's and was fortunate to see 3 or 4 launches. The night time launches were really cool.

I hope we will be lucky and see the Atlantis launch(STS-115) or land when we are at WDW for the first week of September. The flight is scheduled to takeoff on August 28th. But everyone knows, they rarely launch on the original date.

Nice pictures. I was able to see it for about 15 seconds in between clouds here in St Augustine. Pity, it was GREAT visibility otherwise.

BTW, it was probably "quieter" due to your location. The shuttles are launched a few miles farther north than the unmanned rockets. If you live to the south, that's probably it.

Plus wind direction plays a factor.

Great pictures! I was debating about driving over there yesterday and then decided I would have been crazy to even try  so we went to Cypress Gardens instead. That must have been really exciting to see your first shuttle launch!

We've seen many, even once from the Press Site, but this was my first from our Condo here in Cape Canaveral which was pretty cool. We use to live an hour south of here so the view is a bit different.

Good bet, going to Cypress instead, traffic was a nightmare here, even as late as 10pm last night when my fiance' went to work.
