Our September 2011 Pre-Trip Adventure!! (Update 09/29/2011 - Link to TR!)

I didn't even know that there were 2 ring binders LOL:lmao: Oh Well, I was close enough in my guess.

Nice new camera! I really like photopass. If you want any nighttime shots of you 2 in front of the Castle, you're gonna have be good at night photos or you'll need a photopass. Magic pics are another good reason. You can always pre-order and then if you don't like any of them, you can always cancel.

Nice camera :thumbsup2 Love the binder, v cute :cutie:

Thank you! I really don't know much about cameras so am glad everyone likes it! :thumbsup2 Again thanks, I loved the binder as well :)

Lol, yes your guess was close!! :cheer2:

Thank you! That's what I'm thinking about the photopass I can always get a refund if we think it did not work for us or there were not enough magical shots for our liking. I didn't think about the night time castle shots - another thing to keep in mind when making our final decision! :)

Love your binder! I've also been debating on whether to get photopass or not. I guess i'll need to make up my mind soon.

As I have posted earlier in the week I watched Mary Poppins this weekend and loved it! So I had to get your opinions on this movie but then I thought about where I would be meeting her - 1900 Park Fare! This meant meeting Alice in Wonderland characters as well so I thought I would ask for your opinions on both movies!

I haven't watched Alice in Wonderland since I was younger and the only thing I remember is the tree and 'It's time for tea!'. As for Mary Poppins it had to be supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

So what are your views on the two movies? I look forward to reading them :)

Mary Poppins is a great movie. I love Julie Andrews and all of the songs in the movie are good too!

As far as Alice in Wonderland, I haven't seen that movie in a loooong time. I haven't seen the newer version yet either so I can't really comment. Looks like i'll need to put that movie on my list!

I LOVE Mary Poppins! :lovestruc Julie Andrews is so amazing, and you will be singing the songs for weeks afterward!

Honestly, Alice in Wonderland has always been one of my least favorite Disney movies. I know that sounds crazy because everyone else seems to love it, but I just never really cared for it. My niece absolutely loves the new version, but I wasn't a big fan of it either. It was very dark and a little disturbing in places. I mean nothing scary, but just weird! :confused3

I love both movies! Mary Poppins is so much fun the songs are amazing, and the story is just SO good! :cool1:

Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney movies EVER!!! The animated one, of course, I haven't seen the newer version and kind of refuse to, I don't need my classic messed with! I wanted to see it at first, since Johnny Depp is in it, but...I can't be bothered! But yeah, I've seen Alice in Wonderland so many times, I can practically recite that whole movie! I love the Cheshire Cat, I still don't understand why he doesn't do a meet and greet during MNSSHP!

Yay for a new camera! :cheer2:
Even though cameras have so many options & settings, I usually just use the automatic setting.

I like photopass, but there will be plenty of additional places you may want photos as well, so even if you buy the photopass, there'll be plenty of use for the new camera. As others said, the photopass photographers will take a photo with your camera & theirs if you ask.

The binder is so cute!

I love all the music in Mary Poppins! Really an enjoyable movie! :goodvibes
One of our favorite character experiences was with Mary in Epcot a few years back!
We also saw the play and it was amazing! had to buy the soundtrack. Just loved it!

When I took the kids to see the new Alice in Wonderland, I was not expecting to like it. It seemed a little too strange for me. I was surprised to find I actually enjoyed it. Though sometimes the less you expect, the easier it is to be impressed with movies. I liked the concept of impossible things. And without giving much away, I liked that she was trying to do things in her own way. It is a very different story than the original. The original is a bit odd as well, but in a different way.

I am sad to admit that I don't LOVE Mary Poppins, but I do like it...

We enjoyed Alice in Wonderland - it doesn't replace the original; it is a sequel of sorts...It is dark, but my kids tend to like "dark." Coraline, Unfortunate Events, etc...

I still debate over the photopass each trip...:rotfl2:

Mary Poppins has that feel good singalong factor and it has Julie Andrews (Legend), plus its a classic.

Now Alice on the other hand I did not like Tim Burtons version (prefer the animated tbh), it felt like it was trying too hard to impress. Only good thing about the movie was the Mad Hatter and the Rabbit.

I would watch Mary Poppins, least you can sing along to that :)

I loved Mary Poppins and Julie Andrews - she is so great! :thumbsup2

I'm the same as you - have not seen the movie for ages! The new movie has received mixed reviews so am not sure if I'm going to watch it or not - we'll see. If you get round to watching it let us know what you think :)

So do I - it is now one of my favourites!! :thumbsup2 The songs do stick in your head - I was humming them for quite a while after watching the movie.

I haven't seen the original version of Alice in Wonderland for ages but remember enjoying it at the time. I have not seen the new version but am not sure if I ever will watch it. Like you said it seems dark and disturbing - not really a Disney classic! :rotfl:

Yay on loving both movies!! :cheer2: Mary Poppins is an all time favourite! I never got it as much when I was younger (used to watch it in small chunks) but loved it when I caught up with it recently! :lovestruc

I need to watch the animated version again as I can not remember much of it. I'm the same as you though in that the new version does not appeal to me as much, even with Johnny Depp being in it! Ooh I don't think I know anyone that can recite the whole movie - you must love meeting all the AIW characters! I didn't know that the Cheshire Cat doesn't do a meet and greet during MNSSHP - that's a shame.

Yay for a new camera! :cheer2:

Thank you! I think I will definitely be using the automatic setting on the camera! :thumbsup2

Thank you for sharing your views on Photopass - I am leaning more towards ordering it at the minute but like I have said earlier I change my mind on a daily basis! Will definitely be using the photographers to take pictures using our camera.

I love the binder - it is soo cute but still empty! Our printer is out of ink at the minute but as soon as it is replaced I am getting started on printing our itinerary and menus etc.

Mary Poppins sure is an enjoyable movie - I think it is one of those that appeals to all ages.

Yay on having a great character experience with Mary Poppins - am hoping we will be able to say the same after our trip.

Maybe I need to give the new version of Alice in Wonderland a chance and attempt to watch it. I'm just the same - am not expecting great things but then I may be surprised and think it is actually enjoyable! ;)

My vote is for Mary Poppins! I is just such a nice movie, and catchy too:lmao:

Yay, gotta love Mary Poppins! It sure is catchy - I'm looking forward to meeting her and reciting some of the catchy lyrics!! :rotfl:

Hey, no worries - it is nice to hear the different opinions :thumbsup2

Am glad to hear you enjoyed Alice in Wonderland. I've not heard of it described as a sequel before - maybe that's where I am going wrong. I'm expecting it to be like the original. I probably need to think of it as being a sequel. Lol at your kids liking dark!

The photopass debate continues in this household aswell... :rotfl2:

Julie Andrews sure is a legend - I think she has a huge impact on making the movie a classic.

I have to watch the new version of Alice in Wonderland just to see what I think and if I like it or not. I love reading the different views on the same movie. Mad Hatter is my favourite character from the movie - he's just hilarious! :thumbsup2

I enjoyed watching Mary Poppins on BBC this past weekend. Did you watch it? I can't remember which day it was on. I love catching Disney movies on television because then I make sure I actually watch them!

Hi everyone! Hope your enjoying your weekend so far.

Did you watch The Royal Wedding? I loved it. There were soo many great things about it including the dresses which I thought were great designs.

Back to our trip and the above date will be our final day at MK and also our second to last day of our trip. Is it wierd that I feel sad just writing about our final couple of days. I don't know how I am going to handle our trip nearing the end when we are at the happiest place on earth!

We will be hoping to cover Tomorrowland and Fantasyland today. However, before we go on any rides we will be eating with Pooh and The Gang! Before we arrive for our ADR we will be going to Tomorrowland and getting FPs for Space Mountain, which I will be riding alone!

After our breakfast we will head to Fantasyland - I'm not sure what will be open with the construction taking place.

Hopefully we will be able to get another FP at this point. We will get one for either Winnie the Pooh or Peter Pan's Flight - depends on which queue is shorter. However, I do want to enjoy the new interactive queue of Winnie the Pooh so am gearing more towards the FP for Peter Pan's Flight.

We will then ride the other attractions in Fantasyland including Snow White's Scary Adventures, It's a Small World and Prince Charming Regal Carrousel (will still be Cinderella's to me! :lmao:) We may skip Mad Tea Party as only I will be wanting a go and don't want to be on a spinning cup on my own. We are looking forward to Mickey's PhilharMagic.

I am hoping to meet The Fairy Godmother and Rapunzel and Flynn (though have heard about how long their line can get!)

We may get a snack from Mrs Pott's Cupboard before heading to Tomorrowland in order to ride Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear and whatever else we fancy going on in this area.

We also want to try and see Push and get to speak to him.

imagesqtbnANd9GcTF7rF8oL0BGk12Ei62GhCpzcmISuPCgwGTCGLZYzjVsmR38Jp0zg.jpg

After this we will have done everything we wanted for today. We may check Splash Mountain/BTMRR but as we will have already done these attractions we won't mind giving them a miss. We will then head to Pop for a rest before returning for our dinner at Artist Point. We are going to be soo stuffed after our meals today. On every other day we have one ADR but we have two on this day!

We will then return to MK to watch Wishes! We may window shop after the fireworks in order to let the mad rush pass us before leaving for the night.

Coming next: Our last day at Disney World :sad2:

Jasmine and I got up at 430am because I knew the ceremony was starting at 5am our time and I really wanted to see Kate on the way to the Abbey! I thought everything about the day was perfect...I did shed a couple of tears thinking of Diana! I adored that woman and I couldn't help but think as a parent how proud she would be on this day! I agree with you the her dress and Pippa's..they looked stunning!

That sounds like a great day...and yes, I too have heard those lines can be crazy long! Hope you're enjoying your weekend!

I loved the Royal wedding dresses! The lace on Kate's dress was stunning :goodvibes

Your last Magic Kingdom day sounds great. Though, it is sad to think about leaving. I really want to ride Snow White's Scary Adventures, as well, since it will be closing next year.

Yes, I did watch The Wedding... I didn't get up at 5 a.m., though. Set the DVR to record it and watched the next afternoon! I thought Catherine was STUNNING.

On our trip, I'm not sure what all attractions in Fantasyland we'll do... since we won't have any kids with us, I'm sure there are some we can skip, LOL! I'm pretty sure we'll skip Dumbo and IASW. Mickey's Philharmagic is one that is on the DO list. I'd like to see the new Pooh queue... and maybe we should do Snow White's Scary Adventure since it would probably be Helen's only chance to ride it before it closes for good!

Maybe Alice and/or the Mad Hatter will ride the teacups with you, so you won't have to ride alone! :thumbsup2

The Fairy Godmother was the very 1st character we met on our 1st family trip to WDW (back in 2007) so she'll always be special to me for that reason! :lovestruc

phew I'm all caught up, had finally noticed you had a PTR going. I can't believe this is your first trip, you are very prepared and have obviously done a lot of research. This board is great for that, wish I had it before my first trip.

Loving all your plans and your ADRS

Cute Disney shirts you purchased and :cool1: for free shipping

yikes on all the airline hassles, but glad it worked out in the end:thumbsup2

As for movies, that Alice in Wonderland movie was kinda strange for my tastes, scared the kiddos a bit at parts too.

Am so jealous you get to take such a long vacation, you'll for sure be able to get your list done, can't wait to read more :goodvibes
