I can't be sure about the character breakfast-whether or not it is a buffet....it is not THE buffet that I was talking about, it is held in the sit-down restaurant. I am kinda lucky, I guess. My boys are shy about characters, they only like to see them from afar. So no waiting in lines for autographs, no ressies for overpriced breakfasts, and (sigh) no cute photo ops either... Hang around the big pool in the early afternoon for the games...that's when they pick the teams (families) for the shows later that night. The Nick at Night shows are reserved at Guest Relations the day of the shows...go early in the am..you could even try the night before, but I am pretty sure you have to do it at the desk, in person..

As far as I know, all three of the Universal hotels (Royal Pacific, Hard Rock, and Portofino) all have the "jumping line" privilege. They are REALLY expensive by my standards, but it would be worth it. Plus they are running some kind of "kids stay, play, blah,blahblah for free" special..

I hope you give NickHotel a try. I am going to try to get there in August, my boys have been bugging me ever since we went. At one moment of weakness they said that (cover your ears/eyes DISUNC) that they liked it more than WDW. I cleared that one up REAL quick.....

5 and 7 (boys) at the time of the trip last September. They absolutely loved it...DH and I did to..you will not be sorry, as long as you steer clear of the aforementioned buffet. I had been warned on another thread about it, but it seemed like a good idea at the time....

there is a pretty good selection of decent food at the food court. Pizza Hut, A&W, subs/salads...and the restaurant.

I was born in Dearborn, we lived my first 3 years in a trailer park on Dix in Lincoln Park. I went home for a class reunion 5 years ago, and just drove around to all the places I used to hang out (Elizabeth Park) and shop at (Fairlane)...you're right, nothing really changes...

For any Dissers listening in...This used to be a really cool mall when they first opened it-they had a monorail that ran a route from the very large mall across the parking lot on over to the Hyatt and back..very cool...then they decided to tear it down...??

My DH's family is in Bloomfield Hills, Novi, and Northville. We do NOT miss the winters after living here in the sunny south for 20 years....

As I understand it, though they do sell alcoholic bevs in most of the resort stores at WDW, it's quite expensive - which is why we plan to buy our margarita

fixins when we go to the grocery store the first day. I do know that unopened bottles of beer/wine/spirits may be brought onto a plane in carry-on luggage (I believe up to 5 liters) - check with your airline, though.

If you have extra margarita's left over you can just leave them at the front desk of the Movies with my name on it if you don't want to carry it back all the way across the country with you. I LOVE MARGARITAS!! Any kind! Teresa

OK...pixiedust112 has kept telling me that I have to read this thread... so I feel I have been reading for hours, but I am so glad I have. My face hurts from smiling.
