Once again, we were up and ready to go this morning before 8:00 so we decided to wait for the water taxi to take us to USF. We ended up having to wait about 20 minutes or so since I guess the boats were all fueling up. We had all been to IOA two years ago but only my DH had ever been to USF so I was pretty excited to check it out. We hadn't had breakfast yet so we made a quick stop at the Boulangerie for some pastries. My DH had another cheese danish and a milk, I had a cranberry muffin (it was huge!) and a coffee and my kids both had ham, egg & cheese croissants that came with a small side of fruit and milk. Everything was excellent, quick and reasonable.
Of course, my kids couldn't wait to get on Jimmy Neutron so that was our first stop. The cars moved more than I expected and by the time we were doing the chicken, I was dying laughing! Everyone loved it. Next we hit Shrek. My DH said he could have sat in there all day watching that - he loved it! My kids liked it too but they both pulled their feet up after the spiders and never put them back down. After Shrek we walked over to Twister. I was afraid this might be too intense for the kids but they did it anyway. I had heard this attraction was a bit cheesey but I didn't think it was too bad. Next we walked through New York and just soaked up the atmosphere for a while - I loved the authenticity of the alleys and warehouses - very cool! There weren't any shows starting before noon so we headed over to San Fransisco and came across Earthquake first so got in line. This attraction I'll know to skip next time - not that it was bad, but it wasn't worth the whole time consuming production just to ride the ride. We did Jaws next, cute and quick. We got our pictures taken in the shark's mouth like any good tourist and then headed over the MIB. Now was when our FOTL passes really started to pay off! The standby line was satisfactingly long and it was nice not having to be in it.
I guess I wasn't paying enough attention to all the MIB tips because I still didn't score very high but at least I beat the rest of my family! It was a really fun ride though, regardless of my lousy score. We all got on BTTF next and although it didn't make me sick, I was ready to get off when it was over and made myself a memo never to do that again. The kids wanted to head back to IOA so we decided to save the rest of USF for the next day.
It didn't seem like many of the Citywalk restaurants were open for lunch (and my DH refuses to eat at Margarittaville since he could never stand to listen to Jimmy Buffet for that long) but we finally decided on the Latin Quarter. The restaurant was virtually empty so we didn't have to wait to be seated at all. We all had sodas to drink then I ordered the combo (chicken/beef) tacos that came with rice & beans, and all the usual taco toppings. The tacos were a bit disappointing to me. My husband has a Latino background and he makes much better tacos at home. Also the rice & beans seemed bland to me. My DH got the Macho Nachos and they were OK but nothing special. My DS had the cheese quesadilla and seemed pleased with that. My DD has chicken fingers (again) with fries. Our bill was about $38.00 once we finally got it. Service was OK up until that point - I think we waited at least 10 minutes for our check and I was getting antsy to get over to IOA for more rides!
I forgot to mention that when we were at the Prime Outlets the day before, we bought my son some new Skechers in hopes that they would make him tall enough to ride Hulk so that was our first stop in IOA. His new shoes did the trick! He and my DH came off the ride with nothing but praises for Hulk, and that says a lot since we live near Cedar Point and they ride lots of coasters there. Next it was Spiderman again (never get sick of this ride) and over to Toon Lagoon. Now, I knew that people got soaked on Ripsaw Falls but we must have thought we would be exempt or something - WRONG!! I couldn't believe how wet we got. The kids thought it was great, I was freaking - my DH was laughing at the mascara running down my face. Very funny.
But after a quick run to the restroom, I was ready to go again. It was my turn to ride Dueling Dragon's with my DS and I wanted to do Fire since he rode Ice the day before but he wanted back on Ice so that's what we did. This was a lot of fun and although I felt like my head got banged around a lot, at least it did dry my hair! I guess the ride had been down earlier & the wait was 75 minutes when we rode - FOTL rocks! Next up was more time at the Mystic Fountain and we could barely drag the kids away. The next Poseidon's Fury show wasn't for another 20 minutes or so, so we headed over to The Cat in the Hat since it wasn't running when we were there the day before. That was fun as always, and it was about time for Poseidon's Fury so we backtracked over there. The last time we had saw this, it was different so this seemed new to us. My DH and I both decided we liked it better the way it was but it was still worth seeing.
We were all tired & still a bit damp so we decided to head back to RPR for some R&R. We didn't look presentable enough to dine anywhere nice so we decided to order room service for dinner and get a pay-per-view movie. The food was good, the movie sucked (The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen). My husband and I both got the Polynesian cuban sandwich with potato salad (excellent!) and my kids both had the mac & cheese.
This night I got woke up twice by someone talking & laughing really loud in the hall. Finally, I got up and looked out and it was a young girl talking on her cell phone. I asked her to please keep it down & there were no more disturbances that night but I vowed to get a sound machine sent up by Star Services for the next night.
