We spent 1 night at the Royal Pacific last week. I just have to say, we couldn't have been more pleased with the experience.
Checkin -
When we checked in, I gave them my name and the woman at the desk said she couldn't find a reservation under that name. Super organized me said "Oh, I have my confirmation" and handed it over. Well, super organized me totally screwed up and I had somehow made the (pre-paid) reservation for the WEEK PRIOR!!! Oh no! I had been charged a no-show fee to the tune of one night's stay and didn't even know it, and now I had no reservation!
No need to panic, though. The super nice TM at the desk made a phone call to someone and got my reservation re-instated and applied my no-show fee to my new reservation. Thank goodness they had an open room with no notice in July!
The Hotel
Absolutely gorgeous. I don't know what else to say. There is an outdoor atrium type thing by the front desk with gorgeous fountains and seating. Simply beautiful. Suprisingly though, it is a smoking area. This was great for me as I smoke (I know, I know - not something I am proud of) but I mention it as I can see how some people would be put off by it. And I was shocked that such a prime location was open to smoking.
The Room
Attractive, comfortable, nice view even though it was just a "standard" view. There is lots of lush vegetation everywhere and even though we were on the 4th floor there were trees (bamboo maybe?) right outside our window.
Checkout
Went over to WWofHP for early entry. Came back to the room at about 10:30 for an 11:00 checkout. We only had one duffle bag with us as we only stayed for 1 night. Checked with the front desk to see if we could use the pool after checkout. We had been planning on going right back to the park but DS11 got pretty queasy on the Dragon Challenge and needed to chill out. We were very nicely given directions to go to the gym by the pool and use the changing rooms. In exchange for my room key I was given a locker key to store our duffle. The pool was fantastic. Instead of a quick dip we stayed for about 3 hours. We had lunch by the pool - a waitress took care of us right at pool side. Twice a man came by and offered a free snack. The first time it was a small cherry slushie. The second time it was a cherry italian ice. When we were done at the pool we went back to the gym to change. I returned the locker key and got my room key back. We dropped our bags with luggage services and back to the parks we went.
The aftermath
When we got back to homebase (were actually staying in a rented condo for the whole week and just had the one night at the Royal) we realized my DD's "blankie" didn't make it back with us. It must have been tangled up in the sheets. A paniced call to the hotel, maybe 8 hours after we checked out, didn't help. I was told it can take days to get through all the laundry because it is done at a central location, but if I hadn't heard back in 2 or 3 days to call back. I didn't hear back and called again. This time I spoke to Nancy in lost and found. The "blankie" still hasn't been found, but Nancy has been just fantastic. She spoke to the head of lost and found, has spoken to the laundry several times herself, and has called me several times to let me know it is still being looked for. Sadly, we may never get it back, but Nancy has gone above and beyond to try and help us.
So would I ever stay there again? In a HEARTBEAT!!!
