This is our first family trip to Disney World! Our daughter turned 5 in January and our son will be two months shy of age 3 when we go in April. We are a young family who likes a fun environment ....if the kids are happy and entertained, then we are happy and can relax a little :) .
We are arriving Sunday afternoon and are doing parks Monday-Friday (MK, AK, Epcot, hS, MK). Here is what i have so far (we are doing the dining plan)...

Sunday night - Dinner at Chef Mickey (i heard the food wasnt super, but do you think seeing mickey and friends the first night and arriving on the monorail will be exciting enough to look past food?)

Monday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner ?

Tuesday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner at Rainforest Cafe

Wednesday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner Norway Princesses

Thursday - Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (disney Jr characters) Lunch ?, Dinner ?

Friday - Breakfast ?, Lunch ?, Dinner ?

Sunday night - Dinner at Chef Mickey (i heard the food wasnt super, but do you think seeing mickey and friends the first night and arriving on the monorail will be exciting enough to look past food? >>> Since you've never been, why not try it at least once. Your kids will love the characters. If you dont like it, you dont have to go back. I personally didnt think the food was good, but everyone is different. And you gotta try this place at least once.

MK - Monday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner ? >>>>>>ohana dinner, or whispering Canyon. (for W.C.take a boat ride to WL resort). Ohana you can get to via monorail, its right next to MK! Or better yet, Crystal Palace. I always loved their food variety, the atmosphere is nice, and the characters are great. Bonus is that its inside the MK.

AK - Tuesday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner at Rainforest Cafe >>>I would suggest Tusker House lunch instead of RFcafe. You get to see Mickey, Donald, Goofy & Daisy. Plus the food is GOOD! And yes, lunch at Tusker is now characters dining. :)

Ep - Wednesday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner Norway Princesses>>> QS lunch: Fish N' Chips stand in England, or sunshine seasons.

HS - Thursday - Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (disney Jr characters) Lunch ?, Dinner ? >>>50's prime? Great food. Not sure your kids will like the antics? Sci Fi is also A LOT of fun. But their menu is burgers etc.

MK - Friday - Breakfast ?, Lunch ?, Dinner ? >>>As mentioned above: ohana dinner, or whispering Canyon. (for W.C.take a boat ride to WL resort). Ohana you can get to via monorail, its right next to MK! Or better yet, Crystal Palace. I always loved their food variety, the atmosphere is nice, and the characters are great. Monday - Breakfast in hotel, Crystal Palace for Lunch (Pooh & his friends), Dinner maybe quick service

Tuesday - Breakfast in hotel, Tusker House w/ Donald & friends, Dinner at Rainforest Cafe

Wednesday - Breakfast in hotel, Lunch ?, Dinner Norway Princesses

Thursday - Breakfast at Hollywood & Vine (disney Jr characters) Lunch Something quick, Dinner Sci Fi Drive in for Dinner (I really want to, be we don't have time on our trip)

Friday - Breakfast ?, Lunch ?, Dinner ?

I'm not sure on the other places at MK, we're doing 2 character meals when we are there, CRT and CP. So we'll probably skip dinner and just have a snack and eat back at our resort.

Sunday- Chef Mickey's

Monday- MK- Snack Breakfast; Lunch- Sleepy Hollow; Dinner- 1900 Park Fare@Grand Floridian or Ohana @ Polynesian

Tuesday- AK- Breakfast- Donald Safari Bkfst @ Tusker House (if you are early risers, you can get this reservation BEFORE the park opens! Then when you are done, you are right at the gate for Kil.Safari when the park opens.) Snack Lunch; Dinner- Quick Serve Dinner at Flame Tree BBQ

Wednesday EP- Breakfast- Akershus Princess Breakfast; Snack Lunch; Dinner- Quick Service at Sunshine Seasons. If you have picky eaters, the princesses at breakfast will feature more traditional fare that they are used to eating.

Thursday HS- Quick Service Breakfast @ Hotel; Snack Lunch; Dinner- Beaches and Cream @ BeachClub Resort (take the boat from HS) IMHO,the Quick Service/Counter Service at HS is probably the worst on premises, collectively. If your kids want to see the Disney Channel characters, I'd swap TS Credit with CS Credit between breakfast and dinner and eat the TS at Hollywood&Vine and Dinner CS at one of the hotels or boardwalk or Epcot World Showcase (if you are park hoppers). EpWS is a boat ride away from HS.

Friday MK- Snack Breakfast; Lunch- Cosmic Rays; Dinner- Tony's or Crystal Palace

Saturday- Your last Quick Service credit for breakfast

HAVE AN AWESOME TRIP!!!! :yay:

Chef Mickey's is not too bad. There is some variety and your children will probably love it! Also, if they like Playhouse Disney, they will probably love Hollywood & Vine. They have great character interaction there. Norway was the one location our family split opinions on - I really like it, but my husband really dislikes it. I think there are plenty of food options and it is a lot of fun to do at least once.

If you are unsure of menus, I would suggest that you check some out online to see what different locations offer.

For counter service options - Hollywood Studios has Pizza Planet, which most children seem to like. Animal Kingdom has Flame Tree BBQ, which has some tasty, different options. Sometimes it's nice to grab a bite back at your hotel, especially if your little ones take an afternoon nap.

Good luck with your planning!
