Anyone bought one recently and what kind, how do you like it, and where. I have no clue where would be the best place, Home Depot, Lowes, Best Buy, Sears or we have this appliance place close to us in NJ Mrs. G's.

Although I gotta admit, I am pretty psyched to get a new one;)

A few months ago I bought a Maytag at Lowe's. And I'm REALLY SORRY I bought it! They had a limited number of friges (don't they all), especially in the dimensions I needed. I wished I had thought of Brands Mart! I'm not a happy camper with the Maytag. But since then I bought a dishwasher at Brands Mart (GE Profile) and LOVE it! ;)

We had the hardest time buying a fridge. WE only had 32+ inc for the fridge and I wanted a side by side w/ the water/ice on the door. We FINALLY foundone 1000$ worth and when they tried to deliver it they said the side by side wouldn't work due to the wall on the side not allowing the fridge door to open. They said they had a lot of problems with those walls (its the wall that seperates the kitch from the living room hallway in our split. ) poor DH had to cut down the wall, take out the cabinet above the fridge etc. It was a mess but needless to say almost 4 wks later we have a fridgidair in BLACK (black is also hard to get) which we got at Sears. Sorry for long wind...but bottom line even though you measure, be careful. It was very stressful between the color (i HAD to have black) not all models come in black. and the measurements. Side by Sides require AT least an extra inch or so to be able to open. Good Luck

Make sure you carefully measure the space you have to put a new fridge in, especially if your kitchen is small. We bought a new fridge a few months ago and all the sizes had changed since the time we bought the previous one (and remodeled the kitchen around it). My dad ended up having to take down and resize the cabinet above the fridge so that we could get the new, taller one in.

Rather than measure the space, I just took the dimensions off the tag of the refrigerator I had at the time. I knew that I couldn't get one larger than that. The one I ended up with sticks out a little further and isn't quite as big. :( The next one is coming from Brands Mart!!

I just purchased the Kenmore Elite. Top freezer. I wanted the bottom freezer type but due to size requirements, could not get one. I researched Consumer Reports and for the top freezer type, they recommended either the GE Artica or the Kenmore. I like the styling of the Kenmore better and have always been happy with the Kenmore brand. With tax and delivery it was just over $1000. It is a 20. something cubic inch and an energy star rated, which should reduce my electric bill.
