in a word...................

WOW!!! :flower:

We checked in last Friday night (the 18th). Upon check-in they informed us that the resort was sold out so they had upgraded us to club level. Yeah!!!! The only problem was there were four of us: me, dh, dd16, ds15. The room had only a king size bed. DS was all for it even offering to sleep on the floor. They, of course, offered us cots but dd started whining, etc. and made me feel guilty, so I declined. Very dumb, I know. Anyway, they did upgrade us to a beautiful pool/lake/WDW view which was awesome. They also served us a glass of champagne to welcome us to the resort after explaining all their amenities--which were plenty.

The resort is absolutely beautiful from the lobby, to the grounds, to the pool, etc., etc. The large pool wasn't heated :confused3 but the smaller one was and they also had three heated whirlpools. We took advantage of all the water activities on Sunday and went to brunch at LaCoquina. This is, without question, the best brunch we've ever been to. It's pricey ($55 per adult, but they charged us $27.50 for ds) but truly was worth it. It also included unlimited Moet Chandon champagne that they kept refilling every time we emptied our glasses. :drinking1 The food is served in the kitchen and to call it a buffet is to do it a great injustice. There were about 6-8 stations set up throughout plus the main entrees which included lamb chops, elk chops, prawns, eggs benedict and a salmon dish (maybe one other choice?) were cooked to order. DS actually had 2 entrees without a problem. There was everything from sushi to crabcakes to duck to fresh mozzarella, a variety of olives, cheeses, bread, fruits---I can't even describe everything--it was all beautifully prepared and presented and there was nothing run of the mill about any of it. The desserts were also to die for. If ever you get the chance to do this brunch--DO IT! I highly recommend it.

Anyway, this hotel gets 2 thumbs way up from all of us. The service was friendly, unobtrusive and very professional. I can't wait to go back!

If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer them. I'm in  with this place.

it is nice to hear about the good report-we are staying there in April. did you happen to notice if any of the pools have large shallow ends for young children? also, did you rent any of the boats or bikes on property? notice any activities for the preschool set? many thanks for any insight :flower:

Hmmm, I don't recall any zero entry areas in the pool area. The water wasn't as deep in some areas (3 feet?), but then again I wasn't really looking for that.

Yes, we did use ALL the water activities which included water bikes, canoes, kayak, peddle boats. Oops, we didn't use the sailboat, however. All these activities were included in the resort fee ($13 a day) when we were there. Not sure if that changes but it sure was a nice perk.

They had a nice playground area for the little ones and we noticed a rec room for the little ones as well (I think it's called Camp Hyatt) that looked really cute. I believe they also had scheduled activities for them, too.

Have fun--I think you'll be pleased with the resort.

this is definitely a beautiful resort.

haven't been able to stay here - yet!

one day I definitely will.

Are there any shuttle to the WDW parks? If so, how often to they run, are they reliable, and are they free?

We didn't go to WDW this trip (horrors!) so not 100% sure about the shuttle. I know they have one and I do believe they're free, but not quite sure how often they run.

I posted a new thread about the Villas at Grand Cypress and now I'm wondering if this is the same place. If so, if you stay at the Villas, do you have access to the amenities at the hotel? I'm betting you know, SpiceyCat.

they are not the same - however I think you have access to the amenities at both.

Thanks- We will be there in May for my husbands work and I can't wait! Sounds lovely. I know that there is a free shuttle service to WDW and I believe there is shuttle service to Universal and Sea World as well-- I think I read that on their website.
How good was the view of WDW?

These are two entirely different properties and are unassociated.

Our view was awesome, but naturally it depends on where your room is. We had a view of dowtown Disney (LaNouba), you could see the ToT and MGM ears as well as the Epcot ball and the Contemporary and Cinderella's castle in the distance. You can see the fireworks from MK at night as well, but we were never in the room at the right time.

They are different properties owned by Hyatt. Guests at the villas have access to the amenities at the hotel. There is a shuttle service from the villas to the hotel, but I am not sure about schedules.
