How does everything look? Is there a place we should really try to eat that we don't have down? Do we have too many PS's plan?
Although I know we can cancel some if we need to.

Thank you!

I gained 5 pounds reading your plans!

Everything looks okay to me - but wanted to mention I read somewhere (on these boards) that the shakes at Sci Fi were out of a machine (like mcdonalds) not freshly made with scoops of ice cream etc...

If it is really good shakes you are after maybe Sci Fi is not the best place... another poster can perhaps confirm this?

Your dinner at California Grill sounds wonderful for you and hubby alone. :)

Where are you staying by the way?

>>^..^<<

I think I will gain about 10 pounds on this trip! LOL!

We will be staying at the CBR. Personally, I wanted to stay at AKL but got out voted for a moderate resort (more money on food)
That's OK for our December trip when it is just DH, I & DS we are staying at AKL

Hmm..that is interesting about the milkshakes at Sci-Fi. I hope that isn't true. I was really hoping for just some onion rings & a good milkshake.

Thanks!

If you want onion rings and a good milkshake, skip Sci-Fi and hit up Beaches and Cream at the Beach Club. Fresh milkshakes made w/ actual scoops of ice cream and some of the best onion rings at Disney. They don't take PS's, and they're always packed, but it's worth the wait. It's a MUST!!!

Also, the best burgers. Man, I wanna burger... :p

Oh, I notice you're going to 50's... good choice. They also have really good onion rings and milkshakes. We eat there every time we go to Disney. :)

When we went to Sci-Fi we weren't really impressed. It's been several years, so maybe it's improved. The food wasn't that good, the cars were kinda small (and didn't seat many; our group had to be split up), and the movie loop was too short. It was the same thing over and over. I'm not saying don't go there, b/c I've read a lot of good things about it on the board, but for what you want, you'd be better off at Beaches and Cream or 50's. :)

Thank you CoolDisneyCat.

That kind of stinks about Sci-Fi, I have heard such mixed reviews on that one. But I think our party will probably still want to try it out though. So what is a good choice at Sci-Fi? I don't eat hamburgers so that isn't an option.
We really just wanted to use that place as a place to get off our feet for a bit & of course see what it is all about.

I've been hearing alot about Beaches & Cream & it sounds nice. Might have to make it a stop too...there goes another 5 pounds added :p

Thank you for your insight.

Well, I've only been to WDW twice, but I feel like I have a world of experience from those 2 trips - especially the last one with our 3 1/2 year old DD...LOL! It looks to me like you have a good amount of PS's mingled with enough time to go with the flow - just right for a trip to WDW with a preschooler. The only thing I might add is at least 1 meal at the World Showcase in EPCOT. The restaurants there are terrific and all have kids' menus in case your son isn't interested in "different" foods. Our DD tries new things at home, but at WDW, it was hot dogs, chicken nuggets and fries most of the time, if at all! She was so excited and/or tired most of the time that she really didn't eat much (unlike Mommy and Daddy!).

I hope you have as much fun as we did on our first family trip to WDW!

Thanks Phyllis1966!

We have been thinking about adding a PS at the World Show but I have no idea which one.
We are the kind of people that don't like to try anything too 'strange' plus I am a vegetarian, as is my son, so that might pose a problem at some of those restaurants.

My son is very picky though, I am counting on him pretty much living on mac & cheese during our trip! LOL

I am sure we will have a fun time.
I am so excited & I can not wait until June 14th gets here!!:Pinkbounc

I think your plans sound great. I like that you don't have every meal planned, because things can come up with two little ones. It looks like you have some great things on your list, and flexibility too.

Sorry, don't know about Sci-fi, haven't been there. But I second the idea to just stop and get milkshakes at Beaches & Cream. Definitely one of my favorite places. And Prime Time is another one of my favorites. :D

We are planning for my first ever *family trip* (with my in-laws) and I am super excited! I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Let's see... World Showcase...

At La Cellier in Canada they have really good cheese soup. I'm a big hamburger fan, so that's my favorite thing on the menu... guess that won't help you much. :)

The Japanese steakhouse (name escapes me atm) I'm sure as vegetarian choices. When I went the food was ok, but the chef wasn't a lot of fun. That's been a while, so maybe it's improved.

There's Alfredo's in Italy, so standard pasta choices. I've been there, and it wasn't that great.

Nearly every menu has at least one vegetarian choice, and they all have kid's menus with mac and cheese. :) Also, the chefs at Disney are VERY accomodating. If you have a special request, just ask. If you have a super-special request, call the day before your PS and speak to the chef about it. They'll help you out as much as they can.

On another note... a nice place for just the adults to go might be Jiko's at AKL. They have a tofu and grains dish that has gotten rave reviews. Also, my DH enjoyed the salmon quite a lot. It's kind of formal, so it might not be the best place for the kiddos. :)

You can check out menus at Deb's site, www.wdwig.com

Happy Eating!!

Definately skip Sci Fi! Food was bad and overpriced. It was also earily quiet. You heard the movie but I guess because everyone is facing the screen no one was talking. It was unnerving.

I would suggest Teppanyaki, Boma, Crystal Palace, and for a fast bite - try Yakatori. It is good, quick, and relaxing.

We liked the milkshakes at Sci-Fi, but then we've never been to Beaches and Cream, either. ;) The food is just so-so, and pretty expensive for what it is. We went there for lunch, got hamburgers and drinks/shakes, and our tab for 4 of us was about $60. DH said it was the most expensive burger and fries he's ever had!

I've heard good things, and never bad things, about the 50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM. I can tell you where to avoid....we did not like the pizza at Pizza Planet one bit! Oh, it was okay for the first few bites when we were absolutely STARVING...but after the hunger pains were satiated, (gag!)!!! not good. no, not good at all.

Your itinerary looks great to me. I planned one PS a day for us on our last trip here at the end of March - we have a 2 year old - and we ended up using only about half of them.

Have a great time!

I'd like to go with you to see how this works out! I'm sure it will since you've left many meals unplanned so you can experience Disney. My only suggestion would not to schedule two consecutive meals (breakfast then lunch OR lunch then dinner) -not for any other reason than my family always felt full for hours after leaving a sit down meal. Having a 2 yo DS, it was also hard for him to sit for a meal, then just have a few hours before sitting down again. This is just our experience and in no way am I saying you should change your plans - just giving another perspective.

If you are REALLY picky you may not enjoy it, but it is now my favorite place. I think a vegetarian would find enough to satisfy and the atmosphere at AKL is spectacular. They have mac & cheese too!

Re Sci Fi - my DH loves this place and insists we go. I always get the salad. He always gets a shake, burger and onion rings. In my opinion it's okay. Kids (and the biggest kid - my DH  ) really seem to enjoy the theming. As long as I get to pick all the other restaurants, I put up with it!
