Hi Everyone,

Just thought I would share our Pin Trading adventures last weekend......

First, this is my second time trading for FUN .. we trade for pins we like as opposed to looking for rare pins etc.....
I bought a bunch of Pins off of Ebay, and Kyle my 10 yr old was sent several from a wonderful Pin trader here on the boards!

We also received a Pin and Lanyard with our Magical Express tickets....

Well, lets just say, that Kyle LOVED trading pins! We went to DTD our first day, and it was Pin heaven! His first CM he met was a gentleman at World of Disney. He told Kyle to look for the hidden Mickey in the Lanyard pins.... so Kyle got excited each time he found one. One brand new CM had a FULL Lanyard of lanyard pins. Although we were not collecting anything in particular, he looked for that hidden Mickey Everywhere!

DTD had the most variety... once you hit the MK, most of the Lanyards looked the same... many of the same pins, such as the 2001 Kodak pin, the 2000 dancing pin and the starter set pins.

I did not see many Energizer pins at all, and very few Sedesma pins (mostly at MK).

Most of the cast members were so nice! I gave Kyle a hint... look for an important person with a walkie talkie.. they usually have great pins! I could not get over the people buying the pins - it was much easier getting a lot off of Ebay and trading them - just make sure that the lot has a good variety to trade!

We also went to Pin Trading night at the AllStar - it was fun for Kyle to get to pick off the Giant Board, but the collectors in the food court were not overly friendly. We would not go here again, we found the trading at DTD to be as good as picking from a huge board.

Overall, it was a fun thing to do with my son - he loved the interaction with the CMs and meeting other kids and checking out the different pins. My one hint, don't be afraid to ask a CM to trade! You can always say, "no thank you" if you do not see a pin you like.

Oh...what fun! Did you see any of the "mini" pins?

I also just trade for fun...have found some great deals on e-bay...but I am weird...I will only buy what I am willing to keep or trade.

After vacation...that is when I get attached to them...have to arrange them on the cork boards....re-arrange often...wear to work....yep...an addiction!

Hi Catrin
glad to know that you had such a good time with the pin trading.

Hi Catrin
glad to know that you had such a good time with the pin trading.

I just recently bought alot of pins from ebay and the Disney store to trade this summer.
One set actually are Sedesma pins- do the Disney CM trade with this type of European pin.

Also where in downtown disney should we go to trade?
Thanks
Helen

Helen,
we went in all the shops throughout DTD. We got there late afternoon, before the crowds really hit - I think this was an ideal time to go. ALl the CMs there had lanyards.. and many had Lanyard Pins and other terrific pins.

I am not too sure about the Sedesma pins.. the one we got as a "surprise pin" we traded right back to that CM.

Thankyou Catrin

My daughter and I will definately spend an afternoon at DTD trading.

My nephews traded for several sedesma's in February. It truly made my sister crazy but she allows them to trade for what they like!

We are new at the pin trading and I just bought some pins off ebay today (after much fretting over whether I would get 'ripped off' with pins I couldnt trade.....We are going to WDW in Sept and I thought this would be great for us to experience with DS8 and DS3...I have received some great advice from other pin traders on this board :cool1: ....I do have a couple questions...

There was a mention of 'lanyard' pins - is there a difference?

Another ??? where do I find lanyards?

TIA,

Darcy

What kind of lanyard are you wanting? There are Stitch 2004 lanyards on dealsatdisney.com for $1.99. There is a Nightmare Before christmas lanyard on Disneyauctions for $14.99. I have a ton of "A Whole New World" lanyards, and you are welcome to a couple of them. (I love supporting kids trading!) And Disney sells some softer lanyards for $5.00, and fancier ones for $8.00 and $12.00.

If you have a couple to spare that would be great! Then I will buy a couple more - this really helps with our already tight budget!!!!

I have really been impressed with how willing pin trader are at sharing - not only their knowledge but other 'stuff' too. You guys are GREAT! :flower:

I am also a mother of boys - and your screen name caught my eye before! I LOVE being the mom of boys!!!!

I will PM you (if I can figure it out)

Thanks a million to DIS Board OP's --- especially pin traders!

Hi everyone!! I'm new to trading pins and I was wondering what are "Sedesma" pins? Also, where would I be able to buy a lanyard before I leave for the "World"?
