Our one kidless night out....where and what?

Question for all the Dis Dining veterans out there.

We will have just one kidless evening out to ourselves, me and my dear wife. We are around 40. Where should we go? What should we do? A little about us: we have four younger children. We would prefer a more adult setting, but don't really mind if there are some kids around, we know this IS Disney. We don't want to spend a fortune i.e. Grand FLoridian is out. However, a total bill of $80 or so wouldn't be too much.

I care more about a unique atmosphere and experience than I do the food. That will make it more memorable than just good food. However, I don't want bad or blah food either! Since we don't have park hoppers, just tix, I would prefer to eat out of the parks, like at a resort. Although I would consider a park, I guess. I suppose we could plan our night out on the park we plan to eat at.

We would also consider something outside the world. Open to pretty much anything.

Aritst Point at WL is very good. It's a quiet and romantic and after dinner, take a walk around WL (inside and out) it's beautiful.

Turf Club at SSR. A little less expensive, but we've had excellent meals there. Again, it's a quiet restaurant, and it's a boat ride away from DTD for some adult evening adventures

You could probably go to Jiko for around $80, one could get the fillet and the other could try something else.

I think AKL is beautiful and I love the atmosphere inside of Jiko, next to V&A it's my favorite restaurant on property.

Well we are going to Spoodles by the boardwalk area and then to Jelly Rolls for the dueling piano bar. My second choice was Raglan Road in DTD. They have Pub Food and an Irish Band.

I would wholeheartedly suggest you go to Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge. The food is TO DIE FOR!! It really is outstanding and it tends to be a more "adult" atmosphere...there are children there from time to time, but it is usually a quiet(er) place to eat. The food is prepared to absolute perfection. It's pacific Northwest cuisine...and it is worth every penny. The desserts are fantastic as well!

My husband and I have done all the signature dining restaurants on the property and Artist Point is still our favorite!!!

You won't regret it! You'll fall in

Another vote for Artist Point.
It's very quiet, upscale feeling. All the tables have table clothes, the wait staff is fantastic. Food is wonderful...the Portobello mushroom soup is to die for!
If you get there and it's still light out, you can request a window seat, the view is very pretty.
I really think it's a perfect place to have a kidfree dinner.

We've eaten at all of the Signatures many times. If you are excluding Victoria & Alberts which is absolutely the best, my choice for adult atmosphere coupled with excellent food would be Bistro de Paris upstairs in France at Epcot (although doubtful you can do this place for $80 either). Third would be bluezoo at the Dolphin, fourth would be JIKO at AKL. Fifth would be Artist Pointe at WL.

We will be having our first kid free night this year as well. The kids are finally old enough to go to Cub's den at WL. We have chosen Artist Point for our night( We debated over California Grille(but we have always walked by Artist Point and said it looks so nice, we have to try it. Never eaten there, but it looks beautiful and the menu is right up our alley. AK is also beautiful and romantic at night, so Jiko would probably be another great choice. Don't know about the other's recommended. The best meal we have ever ate in Orlando was actually at Portofino Bay at Universal. It was an Italian themed restaurant that was supposed to be like eating in an italian mom's country side villa. It was too die for. Can't remember the name. We will go again when we go to Universal, but when we do Disney we make it a game to never leave the World.

DW and I enjoy the Yachtsman Steakhouse. You might want to check allearsnet.com for the menu to check if it's in your price range. As with almost any place at WDW, there might be kids, but still a much quieter, upscale place than most. Enjoy your time.

Jiko! Walk around the lobby, go outside & view the animals, have a drink in the lounge, then a great dinner. It's one of our favorites.

Hi,

The atmosphere at AP is lovely, and the Wilderness Lodge is a cozy place to walk around. My DH and I had a good meal there, but I wouldnt say it was my favorite. We, too, have 4 kids, and on our nights alone we have eaten at Cali Grill, Flying Fish, and Jiko (and others, but those are the places we had the best meals. ) At Cali Grill, food is great and if you time it right you can see fireworks from your table. At Flying Fish, you'd have the chance to stroll along the Boardwalk after (or into Epcot or over to Yacht & Beach Clubs) and the AKL where Jiko is, is just stunning, so in part it depends on what type of food and atmosphere you want. All of these are pricey, we never got out for under $125+ but you can go on allears.net and see menus with prices and figure out what you'd order and what you'd have to pay. Hope this helps!

It is a beautiful setting, pretty views, and the architecture/design really transports you to another place. The smell of the cedar plank salmon doesn't hurt either

Thanks, Chelle. Just what I was looking for. It's funny, I can honestly say I have lived in NC for pretty much all my life, and I don't know where Stallings is! I haven't even heard of it. Are you sure you aren't making that town up?

No, I'm not making it up We're just outside of Charlotte in Union County about a mile from 485
