our old dog died

So sorry, huckster, to hear that about Kara. She was loved to her last, and that will give so many good memories, forever. :goodvibes We too had Siberians, Keemo, and a blue-eyed Tanya. Beautiful dogs, family members. Know well Kara is there by the bridge with others.......

Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

:sad1: You have my deepest sympathy. Our older golden, Abbie, is now 12 and showing real signs of slowing down, has arthritis in her hips and back legs, sleeps constantly, seems hard of hearing, very thin, will only drink water if she is coaxed. She lives with my ex and our 20yo daughter. Our boys visit Abbie several times a week, and they and our daughter seem to think she isn't uncomfortable enough to put down, still likes to play, and doesn't seem to be suffering. I dread the day though, as I know the kids are really going to lose it. She's been around since they were 8/12/13 and they're now 20/24/26. Fortunately we have another golden, Winnie, who is 5 and still going strong. She lives with my DH and I. Hopefully she'll be able to give some comfort when Abbie's time comes. Hugs to you. :grouphug:

Awwww, I'm so sorry. Your post made me cry. I can't imagine what you're going through right now.

I believe that dogs know when their time is coming. It sounds like your dog knew.

I hope your Golden takes it okay. Poor thing. :sad2:

Sorry to hear about your dog, make sure you allow yourself a good cry. We were faced with the same problem with our nearly 18 yr old cat was it time, was she suffering? but God helped us out and she died on Christmas morning.

Take comfort that she had a good life and went quickly. I don't think any us could ask for more than to have a good long life and die peacefully in our own homes after saying goodbye to those we love. sharing your sorrow.

:( I'm so sorry! My heart goes out to you and your family. And to your Golden too. I hope you find comfort in your memories and pictures of Kara. She was obviously very loved.

I'm really sorry for your loss. We have a Beagle who probably doesn't have real long left, and everytime I look at her, it worries me...

My Maddie, who had graced me with her queenlike presence for 18 1/2 years died last September. I got her when she was 5 weeks old...she weighed less than a pound...and I was 20. We both grew up together. I got married, had a baby and she was the other "mommy" in the house. She snuggled by pregnant belly the whole time I was on bedrest with my DS (now 7). I noticed her slowing down when she turned 16 and jokingly...though very seriously said, "My Maddie has a 347 year contract with me."

Unfortunately, as big as her heart was...she just couldn't go on anymore. She never really was sickly...just old. Her bones creaked and she moved a bit slow, climbing steps was something she just refused to do...but she was always ready for a car ride, a bite of chicken or a good walk in the park! I'm grateful to her that she made the choice to go on her own because I don't think I could have put her down.

She was an absolutely wonderful and loving companion and I will miss her until the day I die. I know some don't believe that animals go to heaven...but I'm sure that they do! I'm sure yours will meet you there too!

I'm so sorry for your loss...I know how much you miss your old dog because I know how much I miss my Maddie girl! :sunny:

I am so sorry to hear about your Kara. :grouphug: I had a Siberian Husky/Alaskan Malamute mix, so Huskies will always have a special place with me. Its horrible to watch your beloved dog get sicker and sicker every day. My grandma's dog, Smokey, died a little over a week ago. She was 16 and had been practically my dog. My mom got her for my grandparent's a couple monthes before I was born. I had been taking care of her virtually since I could walk. It is really hard, I know, but it will get better as time goes on. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry that happened to you! :grouphug: :grouphug: It must of felt bad. My beage died from Cancer when I was 3 or 4 . :sad2: I really didn't know her that well. But I always cry when I see pictures of us. I remember I was sleeping on her belly when she was sleeping on 1 picture. :sad2:

I am sorry for your loss. Losing your pet is by far one of the hardest things to go through. My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. It's truly hard to lose a beloved member of your family. My thoughts are with you. :guilty:

I'm sorry for your family's loss. Rest in peace sweet Kara.

So sorry to hear about your old friend. My kitty turns 13 this year and I cherish every moment with my aging buddy.

:grouphug:

I am so sorry...
I know how heavy your heart is :sad2:

She was blessed to have you love her and share the journey with her....
