Our Not So Merry Disney Vaca

So we left US and walked over to IoA, quite a lengthy walk but was nice to have a stroll, took some pics along the way and just took everything at a relaxed pace.

Got into IoA and studied the map to see what we wanted to ride next. Went for The Hulk, FP's this and went here there and even behind the ride (at one point I thought we had gone back stage as we went through an exit door and then down and up some metal fire escape stairs :confused3 ). Strapped in prepared to blast off. As we were climbing up the start I was not expecting to shoot off half way through the ride, was pretty cool.

After Hulk we walked around towards the Marvel Zone and saw Storm and Rogue (my fav X-Men) so I got some pics taken with them. Afterwards we saw a guy with a sign for Spiderman photos, so we followed the path round. I was chatting to Dave about something so was engrossed in the conversation when this red and blue thing came out of nowhere and scared the bejesus out of me, needless to say everyone found it funny.

We exited the store and spotted Wolverine across the street so I told Dave to go pose with him. They had a quick chat and then Wolverine said to Dave that this was his paparazzi shot, bub and then proceeded to stick his claws into Dave's throat :rotfl:

IMG_2765.jpg

We walked on round for a bit and ended up near Jurassic Park, took a pic where the T-Rex is poking his head out from the trees, Dave likes this pic

IMG_2769.jpg

We went on the ride after that, which was pretty cool. Dave wasn't keen on the drop, bit too steep for him. I loved it though (was a bit worried that I would get soaked as the splash is huge) :yay:

IMG_2771.jpg

Posiedons Fury was next, but we had arrived too late for the last show, so proceeded onto Duelling Dragons. But took a few pics of the area before we left.

The walk to DD is long! Was exhausted walking round to it, made it to the entrance and then proceeded to walk up round and inside the castle. Finally made it to the cars and went for the Red Dragon (my fav colour). This ride is cool, but nothing to write home about. It was getting late now and we were feeling pretty pooped so headed back towards CityWalk and had a quick frappa at Starbucks. These are my vice and I love them, my new fav is caramel cream, Dave went for Choc Chip.

Well thats it for Day 8, hope you enjoy.

Chat to you later

Awesome! I can't wait to go to the Kwik E Mart!!! Sounds like you had a great day at US!

Kwik-e-Mart is cool, but not as big as I thought it would have been and not enough merchandise.

Defo try a squishee though /:thumbsup2

Nice update. I haven't been to U.S. / IOA for awhile. Looks like you had the parks practically to yourself. I would love to try the Simpson's ride. Sounds like fun. I think I need to get back there!

So jealous you get two weeks in Orlando!

I'm sure things go at a nice pace since you have so much time to do everything.

I'm lovin' your report. Great pics! :cheer2:

Yes I too discovered the Pina Colavas and fell in love with them as well

Oh yes you should defo go back, they got a new ride opening soon too Rip Ride Rocket, or something like that. You get to customise your own soundtrack on the ride and everything.

Thanx, we just looked up prices for next year, March for two weeks at AK is £3000 :scared1: I phoned Disney and they said that it was the hotel rates for 2010 and that no special promotions were out yet. I compared March (for Flower & Garden Festival) and September, September is the cheapest compared to March but I really want to go for the F&GF. Don't know what to do :confused3

They are v yumma :)

Day 9

Today was to be a relaxation day so we spent most of the day at the resort. We went to Hollywood Studios to catch the Block Bash Parade, was hoping to see Boo, but she wasn't in todays parade. Was quite cool though, when the toy soldiers went by one of them shouted out congratulations to us which was nice.

If I could swing it money-wise, I'd go when I wanted to go. Plus, it would stink to have to wait another six months to go! It's beautiful with all of the flowers out in March. But if money were an issue, I'd go when it was cheapest.

Gosh I wish we could go when we wanted (14 nights takes alot of my holidays up I tell you).

I know it makes sense to go when it is cheaper (if we were to go in Sept instead of May we would save £686), Dave says that there is always next time. I just really wanted to go for F&GF, as we have done Christmas and Halloween/Food & Wine. We haven't even factored in the flights (although we are working from Sept this years prices for comparison and yearly price increases).

I can say this: March is verrrryyyy crowded! All the Spring Breakers are there. I can't speak for September, but I would imagine it would be less crowded as school would be back in session. I don't know though.

Our first trip was at the end of September (just before Dave's bday). It was manageable, busy but not so much that it bothered me and the weather was lovely.

I think we are decided on September 2010 now, unless we come across a spectacular deal for May (although I need to do some research on crowds for May first). The one thing I love about booking with Disney is that you pay a deposit and then pay for the rest of it 6 weeks before, so we would have to pay it off by June next year, which isn't too bad, makes it more manageable as we have a wedding to save for and also our own place.

I'm glad you have decided on a date to go. Hopefully a good deal will come up so that you can go sooner. I would be curious to know how crowded the parks are in May. I imagine its quite busy with schools letting out about that time of year, but you never know what the masses are doing. :confused3

Day 10

Went to MK today and strolled around. Arrived early again and queued up to wait for Jasmine and Aladdin. They were pretty cool, asked loads of questions about our engagement and Aladdin mentioned that they weren't married just yet, but soon would be. I always get tongue tied around live action characters as I never know what to say, feel like a dork that just smiles

IMG_2809.jpg

After our photo op we waited around for the Pirate Tutorial to start, was looking forward to seeing Captain Jack Sparrow (love love love Johnny Depp  ). Was pretty cool show, v funny. After tutorial we spied Captain Hook and Smee wondering around for photo ops so hurried over to the line.

We headed on over to Frontierland and rode on Big Thunder, was wondering around when we spotted Goofy and...Max  Apart from Goofy, Max is Dave's fav character and we know how rare he is to see, so we ran over to get in line. Dave was so excited bless him :yay:

image266.jpg

Went on Liberty Square Riverboat after that, was pretty cool, nice relaxing ride along the lazy river taking pics.

Afterwards we went along Main Street and took some PP Pics, including one I really wanted to get before the trips end.

image272.jpg

What I wanted to do, was have Dave hold Tink and then where her wand falls, have it poised over my ring like it appeared there, but I wasn't sure if it could be done. Wish I had asked now though.

After MK we headed back to the resort for a lil rest before our ADR at Teppan, which we were both looking forward to as we had never tried anything like it before. Our ADR was at 9:30pm so we arrived in time, were taken to our room and seated with two other families. Our chef was crazy cool, got a really cool pic of her below. The food was fantastic, we both had steak and chicken (weren't v adventurous with the fish but we have tried out another Tepanyaki resturant in the UK called Benihana and I tried shrimp and scallop and loved it, so will defo go for something like that next time we go Tepan) and I loved the beef tempura, although I suck at chopsticks. The servers were really cool too, came out at the end of the meal with chocolate green tea cake and cocktail umbrellas, was so sweet.

The two families at the table were really nice and we built up quite a rapport with them. Dave is better with people then me and had them all in hysterics with stories from home. The surprise came at the end of dinner when they our server said that they had both paid for our meal. We were quite shocked and v grateful, it was soooo sweet of them, couldn't stop talking about it on the way back to the resort. Really made the day.

We ended up finishing the meal at about 11pm-ish, walking back through the World Showcase was surreal, it was sooo quiet and peaceful, we enjoyed a nice leisurely stroll back to the bus, but had to run when we saw our bus as we didn't know when the next one would turn up.

Well thats it for Day 10, will update you tomorrow some more.

G'night :cloud9:

I have just seen on one site that May is moderate for crowds but gets quite busy with school tours towards the end of the month.

Fingers crossed for a good deal :D

I love your most recent updates. I am eating at Teppan Edo in June and this time I WILL NOT CANCEL THE ADR! Last June we had an ADR, but it was our last night of the trip and we just didn't feel like walking back there when we decided to spend the night at MK, so we canceled. We already had two back to back meals at the World Showcase, so we just couldn't get it together for another! That was the second time I was supposed to eat there. The first time I had an ADR, there was a delay in the restaurant opening and Disney canceled it. So, three's a charm!

You know - if you really want to go during Spring 2010 you could always consider renting DVC points. That's a pretty economical way to visit. Visit the DVC boards for more information. If I had more points, I'd rent them to you, but I am stripped of points! :rotfl: I don't even have enough to cover my June trip!

Fingers crossed for you!!! :wizard:

Hey, I just noticed you were from London. I don't know how I missed it before! Alabama girl, here. I can honestly say I've never been outside of the surrounding states. I don't get out too often! :rotfl: Work keeps me tied down most of the time.

Oh do not cancel, you will have a great time. We had so much fun and its nice getting to know other people :cutie:

It is a v busy restaurant, when we arrived we had to wait and all the waiting area seats were taken so we plonked on the floor till we were buzzed. But we didn't have to wait v long. Let us know how it goes :D

I will get Dave to check out DVC as he has been researching it I think. Thanx :)

Fingers crossed for you!!! :wizard:

Thank you

Yep London girl here. I love to travel and want to visit as many places as possible, but its the same as you work is a factor in that we don't get enough.

We love eating in Japan. It is our favorite place in EPCOT to eat. That is usually is our last night there our"Celebration Dinner"!!!:hippie:

Day 11-14

Disaster has struck and I have come down with my flu again  So the rest of the holiday was spent in bed until check out :sad1: I felt so bad as we had tickets to Mousefest Toy Story Mania (which Dave was looking forward to) and we couldn't go. So I was bed ridden and even more miserable that I was ruining the end of our vaca for David. But bless him he was soooo good  he went out and got food, drink and medicine for me and just generally took care of me, which I am forever grateful for. For Christmas I made up for it by getting him a PS3 as his gift, which he loved :D

So thats the end of my report, thank you so much for taking the time to read and I promise that next year is going to be so much more better as I will not get sick :cheer2: We have decided that we are going to go for September 2010, but this might change if some good offers come up for May. Am stuck between AKL and POFQ right now, AKL because it is a different hotel and there is no bus stop system around the resort! POFQ as it is a cheaper option and I like the idea of a Mardi Gras theme.

Am comtemplating a pre trip report, but I think I might have to wait a lil while longer as 14 months out is too early for one me thinks.

So thanx again guys you have been great and am now off to roam the forum and look at everyone elses reports :grouphug:

Stef & Dave
