I am so enjoying reading everyone's pre-trip and trip reports that I thought maybe I'd attempt one for our trip.
Who we are: Me, Joanne, single mom to Nicole. Disney was a huge part of my life growing up. We would drive down from Canada with the trailer and the dog and set up camp at Fort Wilderness. Loved it SO much, and have many fond memories of the marshmallow marsh and the campfire singalongs with Chip and Dale.
I became a CM in 1985, where I worked as cultural rep in Canada at Le Cellier. What a fabulous year! Since then I've been back several times.
Nicole, 7 years old and LOVES Disney. She comes by it honestly I guess. She's been twice so far - doesn't really remember the first time at 3 years old, but remembers every detail of our last trip. We stayed at POP, and went for race weekend in Jan '05. The kids races were awesome, and she still proudly shows off our medals.
This April, she started asking when we were going back to Disney. I'd tell her how lucky she is to have been twice, when many kids her age haven't been at all... Well, this continued on and on. One night she woke up and said, "mommy, I can't sleep cause I just can't stop thinking of Disney World." Well, the next day I checked on line and it just happened to be one of the first days of the free DDP.
I hesitated, thought about it, and then plugged in our dates again and POP and the All Stars were sold out. I called to see, and could only get POR, so I booked it for 6 days. Checked again on the Sat am, and there popped ASMo. Nicole was beside me, so of course was cheering for Movies cause it "looks so cool". I called and booked it for an extra day AND saved almost $300, so we're going Aug 26-Sept 2. Woohoo!!
After reading these boards, I really wished I'd kept this a secret and surprised her the morning of, however, knowing how she was driving me cuckoo bananas
there is no way I could have kept it to myself.
