I've got a plan going now that I want to share as I'm so excited, so don't mind me ;) I was starting to think this trip wasn't going to happen at all and how disappointed my boys would be but I ran my budget today and see it is possible!

I had planned on taking my 2 boys (I'm a divorced mom) to Disney world for 4 days then fit in DC and SW among that, but now that I've started massage school my schedule and my budget aren't as flexible. Plus I think of how wiped we would all be after all that. I showed them pics on the net and asked them if they had a choice of 1 park where they would want to go and they both said DC cause they liked the dolphins and the bird avairy. So our trips gone from being DW focused to being 'animal' focused, and I must say I'm rather pleased about it :D I'm an animal freak and my boys are the same apparently. It will be next year either end of April or beginning of May, leaving on a Thursday and returning on a Monday. Right now heres the plan:
Thursday= fly in get settled by noon, would love to hit Gatorland.
Friday= Seaworld
Sat- Discovery Cove
Sunday- DW magic kingdom
Monday- maybe DTDW then our flight would leave around 7pm

Thats my ideal 'formula' but its still flexible. I'm thinking it might be wiser to do DW on a weekday(fri) then bump everything else down(tho I guess that also hinges on when I can get our DC ressies). Still scouting hotels as I need something that provides transport(prefferably free ;) to the parks(and the airport) because I don't want to rent a car. I'm hoping we can get to gatorland w/o spending alot on a cab, I think that would be a nice slow paced start to our trip and a 'taste of Florida' on our first day. I couldn't resist throwing in 1 day at DW because my oldest is 9 and I'm afraid if I put that park/trip off longer he'll get to that age where its 'so uncool' and I want to get mouse ears on him at least once ;)

I'm glad you are getting to go. As a divorced mother of two boys, I know how tough it can be. The Aquatica water park should be open by then and it might not be much more to add the tickets on to your Discovery Cove package. It might save you money over tickets and cab to Gatorland. Unless, of course gators are a must do. I would really look into renting a car, though. Transportation from offsite hotels is usually pretty bad. I would really want a car. It may not be much more than the airport transfers and any taxi's you are using. Plus you can go through a drive thru and save some $$$ over theme park food.
