Our new pets..........

4 fuzz ball chinchilla's!

Only 2 are staying, but for the time being we hae 4. A good friend of mine had them, bred them and has decided she is not able to give them the quality time they require to be happy chins.....so they arrived yesterday morning. She had 9 all together, but these 4 lived happily in the same cage, so when the cage came with my 2, the other 2 came as well.

2 are males, 2 are females, so we could end up with more baby chins! Right now I have the mom, her baby, the dad and a brother to dad. Because she has had them since they were babies, they are very playful, and docile. Mama- makes a ton of noise and the cats just arent sure what the noise is!

They are just the cutest things....I've got to chin proof a room, so they can play and explore....plus they have a huge 'hamster' ball that they roll around the house in...gotta get another one of them!

Anyone else have chins?

Don't have any, but they are so cute!

If we didn't house so many ferrets, I would like to have one, but the ferrets, along with other pets take too much of my time.

Funny you should mention ferrets! DD8, when told we were getting the Chins, replied with "give them to DD9, I'll take Max" Who is the ferret that lives where the chins use to be!

My X had 2 ferrets when I met him- snarfy and what? Both lived very long lives, and passed away when they were 11. Had a blast with those little guys- snuggling up while watching tv etc. Hopefully the chins will be as much fun!

I love the ferrets. 3 belong to DS10 and I, the other 6 are DS23's.

They are so funny. DS10's youngest one, is like a dog, loves to be rubbed under the chin and belly.

Complete chin novice here... Do they learn to respond to voice commands, their names, etc.? Do you find that most vets are knowledgable enough to treat them, do they need shots, etc.? I've seen and petted them before (ohhhh so soft!) but never really considered them as pets. Of course I'm sure our goofy lab would just want to carry one around in his mouth and scare it to death
