I’ve been thinking about doing a post on this for a little while, but never found the time. Hopefully this is the right location for it. My husband and I are taking a trip to Disney in November (1st time ever for me, 1st time in about 20 years for my husband). We decided/started planning at the end of last year. Yay! :hyper: Except we had almost a full year to wait until we got to go (boo!). So, we decided to watch a Disney movie every weekend from now until our trip. I’m sure we’re not the first to come up with this type of countdown, but I wanted to document our experiences somewhere and add to the excitement. :mickeyjum We were trying to stay in order, but we’re at the mercy of Netflix, so it’s pretty messed up at this point. So, here’s my list (* indicates my first time watching the movie).

Already watched:

Snow White
Fantasia
Pinocchio
Dumbo
Bambi
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad*
Cinderella
Alice in Wonderland
101 Dalmatians
Lady and the Tramp
The Sword in the Stone
The Jungle Book
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
The Aristocats
The Black Cauldron
Brave*
Frozen*

To watch:

Peter Pan
Sleeping Beauty
Mary Poppins
Pete’s Dragon
Robin Hood
The Rescuers
The Fox and the Hound
Oliver & Company
The Little Mermaid
Beauty and the Beast
Aladdin
The Lion King
The Nightmare Before Christmas
Pocahontas
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
A Bug’s Life
Hercules
Mulan
The Emperor’s New Groove*
Tarzan*
Atlantis: The Lost Empire*
Lilo & Stich*
Monsters, Inc.
Meet the Robinsons*
Ratatouille*
Treasure Planet*
Finding Nemo
The Princess and the Frog*
Tangled*
Monsters University*

Now, if you do the math, you’ll see that we have 28 weeks until our trip and 31 movies left to go, so we’ll have to double-up some weekends. We’ll have a couple weekends out of town too, which will make watching difficult. Hopefully we will get through the whole list though!

I might come back and post some of my brief reactions/opinions of each movie to help with the countdown.

Thanks for reading! :thumbsup2

Here are my (very) brief opinions on all the watched movies so far:

Snow White – A classic, with great music, but I don’t think Snow White will ever be my favorite princess. She just doesn't have enough (any?) personality.
Fantasia – Parts of this are awesome, but I did fall asleep at one point while watching. :sad2: I tried, really, I did.
Pinocchio – I don’t have much to say about this one. I enjoyed it though.
Dumbo – It had been so long since I’d seen this one. I fell in love with it again. I want my own baby Dumbo.
Bambi – I’ve always been a fan of this one. It’s just awesome.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad* - I somehow never saw this one before. It was okay. I love me some Bing Crosby though, so I was surprised to see he was one of the voice actors.
Cinderella – I love the mice in this one!
Alice in Wonderland – Also awesome. So many great scenes in this one.
101 Dalmatians – My absolute favorite movie as a child. I had a dalmatian growing up. I’ve seen this one so many times. I still love it.
Lady and the Tramp – Also a favorite of mine (what can I say – I love dogs :dog2:). How can you not love the spaghetti scene?
The Sword in the Stone – It had been a while for this one too. I remember liking it more as a child. However, I still enjoyed the squirrel scenes, as sad as they are.
The Jungle Book – I’ve never liked this one as a child. I don’t know why. I can’t say my opinion changed much as an adult. I’m sorry, I know people love it.
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh – Eeyore is my favorite Disney character. There should be move Eeyore!
The Aristocats – This one is fun too, although I still prefer the dog movies.
The Black Cauldron – This is actually one of my favorites as well. I know it’s dark for a Disney movie, but there’s something about this one that I just love. Maybe it’s just Gurgi.
Brave*- I definitely enjoyed this one. I think it might have been built up too much for me though, so it wasn’t as awesome as I expected. I’d watch it again though.

You should watch the muppets, it's a great movie! Muppets most wanted is ok but not as good as the first one

We actually saw that one in the theater when it first came out, so that's why it's not included on this list. We decided not to include anything that we've seen "recently" (e.g., Toy Story, Wreck-it-Wralph). We really want to see Muppets Most Wanted as well, but have just not had the time to go see it. I've actually not seen all of the classic Muppets movies yet, so I'd like to do that, but I don't know if we'll have time!

This weeks movie was Frozen! Wow! I now understand why everyone loves this movie so much. It was a great "modern" Disney movie. I had heard "Let It Go" before, but seeing it in the movie gave it a lot more power. Although, "First Time in Forever" has been the song stuck in my since we watched.

Oh, I loved Sven. :)

I can't say I'll be waiting for 4 hours to meet Anna & Elsa though! :sad2:
