Our most magical day ever!

It's one of those days that starts out good with simple stuff, and justkeeps on getting better.
January 15 -
WDW is great. Arrive at MK and meander around. We were chatting with a CM who mentioned that he would like us to be the grand marshals for that day's parade!
DH wanted to see the parade -- little did he know he would be in it!
On down the Main St bakery. After breakfast, I covertly asked a CM painter for one of his Wet Paint signs. He looked around and gave me one. I gave him the highly valued MoM NE pin DS pin as a thank you.
Walk on fun to the rides and attractions all day. Great weather.
Went to Scoop's pin seminar. He mentioned he had a new pin out. (For someone who has a lot of pins, I don't know a lot. I didn't know Scoop had his own pins.)

And then PARADE time! We had Hand Waving and Smiling 101 by Splash Mountain. We got to practice our new (but brief) career on the train as it went by.
Blaine and I rode in th backseat of a 4 passenger car that Walt use to ride in!
And the icing on the cake -- SCOOP was in the FRONT seat of our car! He really got the crowd going and had them rally for the Barnhill's of Omaha, Nebraska! (And the crowd was wondering, Who the heck are they!? )
The parade route was just 1.2 miles and goes much faster when you are in it than sitting there waiting for it!
We are in LOTS of photos and videos that will be memories to so many around the world. What an honor!
Being a parade marshal was a major high point. I think 'How could this get any better?'
And it did -- Scoop presented me with one of his LE pins, signed and dated to Barb and Blaine.

What a day in the MK!
That night I was thinking if there is a knock on my door and I open it and Mickey is there to tuck me in, then I KNOW it's all been a dream!

And I also got to meet another pin friend face to face -- Kris. I was so happy to meet him. He and his wife met up with us at the ASSp pin meet Thursday, and they went there just to chat with us. Kris is a great person and I feel I already owe him a lot. I can't say enough good about him and his DW.

All the pin friends I have met at WDW have just been the greatest people on earth, You couldn't find any better anywhere.
It makes me realize how fortunate I have been in this hobby.

What a magical day for you - isn't that what Disney is about? The good you do for others always comes back. You are the first person i am aware of who has been a grand marshall - congratulations. And to top it all off with Scoop's new pin is the ultimate!

OMG Barb...what a wonderful day!!!

Last night at dinner, someone looked at me with that funny expression and asked "why do you keep going back to WDW?" I wish I could show that person your story...the smiles, the fun, the happiness...it's magic...that's what it's all about!

Barb, what a GREAT story! Thanks for sharing! As I was reading your post, I knew it was you (we've traded a few of the 100 YOD state pins - we're in Kearney - not Nebraska, Missouri - lol). DH & I will be headed to WDW/Cruise in just a few weeks to celebrate #27.

We'll have to look for Scoop. The seminar, is that at the new Pin shop in DTD? Is it every day? Please give me the scoop (lol). We plan on attending as many pin events as possible.

What wonderful things to happen all on one day!! It must have been the most thrilling expierence to be chosen as grand marshalls and then to have the sugar on top, to receive such a honor from Scoop. I am so happy for your hubby and you. CONGRATS!!!!!

Since the first time I ever saw a Disney parade (15 yrs ago) in person I have considered being a grand marshall my holy grail, that or being Tinker Bell flying down from the castle. Someday my dreams will come true.

That must have been such a thrill. Wow, I would love to know if there is any secret to being chosen to be the Grand Marshalls. I would love for my brother and sister-in-law and my nephew and niece to have tht honor when I take them to WDW for their first trip in May.
And then to attend one of Scoop's seminars and be awarded his special pin. Wow, could youhave had a better day? It must be so nice to have family enjoy you pin enthusium with you, I wish my family encouraged me instead of always making fun. I can only get to Scoop's seminars when I go to the parks alone.
I hope all of my DIS friends have special days like you did on their trips to WDW this year. Peggie
