We spent the morning at the pool of our hotel, The Wellesley Inn & Suites by the Florida Mall, for some swim time. We didn’t arrive at MGM until about 1:30pm. We ate free breakfast at the hotel that morning but didn’t eat lunch yet. We were starving when we arrived and headed straight towards our favorite restaurant in all of the World – The 50’s Prime Time Café!

The café looks like Mom’s house in the 50’s. Everything is retro. Even the TV’s have 50’s television shows playing. And there are tons and tons of 50-style knick-knacks all over the place – which I swear I have seen in my Grandma’s house. Everyone that eats at 50’s Prime Time is a “cousin” visiting Mom for a meal. Your server is a “family member” that will constantly harass you during your meal. “No elbows on the table!” “Eat everything on your plate or no dessert!” If you do clean your plate they give you a sticker and you become an honorary member of the “Clean Plate Club”.

Our Server was Uncle Darren. He was great! Katie kept standing on her chair and trying to reach the knick-knacks glued to the shelf at our table. He scolded her once (jokingly) to sit in her seat like a young lady or no dessert– and she was good for the rest of the meal! He also praised the girls later on to tell them what good little princesses they were being.

DH ordered the Meat Loaf, which is very good, and I had the Special, which was pork tenderloin and pasta – also very good! The kids split Mac & Cheese. We ordered kiddie cocktails for the girls but they came in a souvenir cup with red light-up colored ice cubes – which came in handy during Fantasmic! DH & I ordered drinks from the “liquor cabinet” – Mom’s homemade picnic punch. For desert we ordered one big chocolate malt and split it.

Both the meal and the theming is excellent at this place. I highly recommend it, but it can get pricey. We spent almost $100 for the 4 of us with tip. I would suggest cutting out alcoholic and light-up drinks to lower the cost. Also, they have reasonably priced sandwiches that are big enough to share. We felt the need to splurge a little at this place since it is our favorite Disney restaurant.

So now that DH and I were buzzed from Mom’s homemade punch we decided to take the girls over to see the Playhouse Disney Show. It was cute but having a little alcohol in your system definitely makes it easier to Bear (Ha Ha – Get it?). Bear in the Big Blue House is very very big – in fact I think the bear is bigger than the blue house! They need more of Rolie Polie Olie & the Stanley didn’t look like him at all. Little kids do enjoy this show – it is very interactive – lots of jumping up and down and dancing around. And be warned that everyone sits on the floor. Thankfully it is only a 15-20 minute show.

Next we toured One Man’s Dream, which was a lot more interesting than I thought it would be. The models of the rides and the plans of the parks are really, really neat – especially the castle and Peter Pan’s Flight. There is also a movie. Skip it and just look around some more. The movie just gives a brief history of Walt Disney’s life, and he is introduced by the “Villain” Michael Eisner – how ironic is that! They need to lock up Michael Eisner inside this attraction for a couple of weeks until he “gets it” - “Walt’s dream” that is. Perhaps ride expansion would be the key to higher profit margin – instead of hotel expansion and raising the cost of everything from passes to Mickey Mouse Dolls! Sorry, don’t mean to rant. I still love Disney even though an evil corporate idiot is running it.

Next we tried to go to the Indiana Jones Show but the girls were scared of all the loudness so we left. We headed toward Tower of Terror - our favorite ride at this park. DH & I rode it twice because there was no line. They drop you so much now that you don’t think you are ever going to stop! I think four or five times. It was awesome as usual.

Next we caught the Beauty and The Beast Show – which the kids loved, but was also especially corny (particularly the costumes for Lumiere, Cogsworth the Clock and Mrs. Potts). This is also a very short show – 15 minutes.

So it is 8:30pm now and we decided to go to Fantasmic. There were plenty of seats and we chose to sit in the first row so we could get sprayed by the water. Katie and Julie didn’t like getting wet and didn’t like the villains, but they did like their popcorn and all the princesses on the floats. They also enjoyed playing with their light up ice cubes. DH and I were not impressed with the snake or the dragon, but were very impressed that the whole lake was on file. We still can’t figure out how they did that?

After the show it is pretty much a mob scene and a very long walk back to the park. They take your stroller before you go to the show. You are supposed to be able to pick it back up somewhere, but DH and I couldn’t find out where so we carried the kids all the way down.

We did some shopping before we left. I found some really cute Tinkerbell earrings and the girls got Disney necklaces that say Katie and Julie. DH looked at the movie props store b/c he is a big James Dean/ Marilyn Monroe fan but didn’t find anything he wanted to buy.

Tomorrow we start driving home – so sad. But time to start anticipating our next trip – which will be soon (September). It probably took me so long to finish this report because I was too busy planning the next trip (Hee Hee!)

I love Fantasmic but have never sat down so not to get wet....guess I am a woos.....I remember the cm's telling us how the fire comes out of the water.....something about piped in gas and then set it on fire....kind of neat isnt it......thanks again for your report
