All I can say is wonderful!!! It was the best trip we have ever taken to Disney.

One the first day we flew Air Tran from Bloomington to Orlando. The flight was on time, the weather cooperated and it was honestly enjoyable and I hate to fly. Upon arrival we were greeted by Your Ride and our driver Jim. He was extremely friendly, timely, safe and informative. The car was roomy, clean and comfortable. It only took about 20 minutes to get from the airport to our resort and there was even construction. While my DH checked us in we retrieved our luggage and enjoyed the lobby of the Boardwalk Inn. After check in we went straight to our room so we could unpack and go and find something to eat. The room was perfect. We were in the courtyard area, ground level and our patio looked right at the pool. As soon as we finished unpacking we hurried out to the Boardwalk and went to eat at ESPN Zone. Again all went well. there was no wait, our food was out in no time, the portions were very large and tasted wonderful and our waiter was very attentive. After our late lunch we headed for the quiet pool. It was as if it was our own private pool. Our family of four and one other sunbather were the only people there. Later in the evening we decided to clean up and go out onto the Boardwalk. Again no large crowds, great weather and Disney it was perfection. For dinner we ate at Boardwalk Pizzeria. The pizza, calzones and salads tasted great and hit the spot.

On day 2 my DH had his conference, the 2 teens slept in and I hit the Boardwalk for a morning of power walking, then went to the pool for a few laps. It was the most empowering morning I have had in a long time. As a matter of a fact it became a morning routine. When the girls finally woke and came out to the pool we ordered some fruit cups and muffins for a late breakfast. That afternoon we cleaned up and went around to the Magic Kingdom resorts and shopped the gift shops and took some great photos. We skipped lunch and had tea in the Garden View Lounge at the Grand Floridian. There we had finger sandwiches, tarts and pastries with our tea. Our waiter was Denis and he made the tea something we will never forget! He was so entertaining and helpful. When the DH was finished we went back to the hotel to swim a little more before our late dinner. Our dinner was at Ohana. The table where we sat over looked the lagoon where the Lagoon Parade was going on and fireworks were about to start at the Magic Kingdom. The food was wonderful (especially the pineapple and caramel sauce)!

Day 3 same morning routine and breakfast. For lunch we ran down to Boardwalk Pizzeria and picked up salads and waters to take back to the pool. Now this became our afternoon routine. We stayed at the pool till late afternoon. I decided that I wanted to run over to Epcot and the girls were going to work on homework. I took the talkabout (Motorola) and communicated them the entire time I was gone. The boats from the Boardwalk seemed interesting so that was how I got there. Once inside I decided that I was only interested in shopping around in the World Showcase. It was a little busy but not overly crowded. My purchases were in Mexico (bracelet), Japan (sushi and bamboo plant), Italy (wine and candies) and France (chocolate mousse and napoleons). When I got back to the room we decided to go and take photos around at the Epcot resorts. For dinner we went to Cape May Cafe. We didn't even have priority seating and got in within 10 minutes. The food was very good and all you can eat, our waiter was super and the Oreo Bon Bons are to die for!

On the 4th day same as day 2 and 3. We did however go over to the pool at the Yacht Club and asked if we could swim there. The cast Member was very helpful and said that it used to be that Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club could share pool but that there got to be so much pool hopping that now only Beach Club and Yacht Club guest with room keys and arm bands could use this pool. So we decided to try out the main Boardwalk pool. All I can say is I know where everyone was. We quickly retreated back to our quiet pool. In the afternoon we went to Market Place shops to pick up our souvenirs. We did all of our shopping at World of Disney (charms, cups, tee shirts, color books, pen, visor, postcards) and Sosa Cigars (cigars and tee shirt for DH). We had lunch at McDonald's (same old same old food but value meals are about $7). Our dinner tonight was at Beaches and Cream. We even had the Kitchen Sink (largest ice cream sundae I have ever seen).

Day 5 was the best! DH only had a 1/2 day in his conference. The girls woke early and we went right over to the Saratoga Spa (taxi transfer from Bell services). We enjoyed the whirlpool, sauna, steam room, manicures, pedicures, exercise room, showers and shaves. I have now done both spas at Disney and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed Saratoga! It was total bliss!!! When we got back to the room DH was already at the pool. Our afternoon was the normal routine except we got corn dogs from the cart on the Boardwalk and had the pleasure of enjoying it with Dad! This was also our 22nd wedding anniversary. The girls went out on their own tonight to shop, eat and stroll on the Boardwalk. The DH and I went to Spoodles. The food was very good, our waiter was nice enough but it was very noisy and definitely not a good anniversary spot. So we went out onto the Boardwalk got dessert at Boardwalk Bakery, found a peaceful spot and just took in all of our wonderful surroundings. Next thing you know the fireworks started up and all was again perfect! later we all went for a late night swim.

This is our last real day at Disney and we wanted to take it all in. Morning was our normal routine. Afternoon was normal routine. At about 2 we went over to MGM. There were crowds but not the worst I have ever seen. We went on the Star Wars ride once (walked right on), Rock-n-Roller Coaster 4x's (again walked right on) and Tower of Terror once (again no wait). My only request were to eat at Prime Time Cafe and see the fireworks at MGM. Well, it was 4:45 and we had done everything we wanted to do and everyone was ready to go our reservations for dinner weren't till 6. So we went on over to see if we could get in sooner. Sure enough it was immediate seating. Again it was a great experience, the food was scrumptious and the smores are the best things since Oreo Bon Bons! Needless to say we didn't see the fireworks (seven times and no MGM fireworks):( ! Instead we went to pack and swim.

We had to get up at 3am to be ready for our driver at 3:45. Jim was already out there waiting. We were at the airport in 15 minutes. Had breakfast at McDonalds and were on our plane headed home:( :( :( .

very slow....easy.....you enjoyed yourself and relaxed.....my kind of vacation......I love the Boardwalk for a leisure walk too.....the boats from the Dolphin and the other Epcot resorts is fantastic..I am going to have to try that buffet at cape may....being from New England we like to know about our seafood.....thanks so much for your great report

It sounds like you had such a wonderful trip. I would like to try the BWI sometime as my family loves that area. I just loved the Cape May Clambake and can't wait to eat there again. Here's a belated Happy Anniversary wish.

Hi,

I enjoyed your trip report and Happy Anniversary - what a great place to be to celebrate. :)

About the MGM fireworks... I didn't think MGM had fireworks - just fantasmic??

>>^..^<<

Thanks for your report - sounds like you had a very relaxing vacation.

We are going to BWI for the first time at the end of June. After reading your report, I'm even more excited about staying there. It was a toss up between YC and BWI. I chose BWI because we've stayed at BC in the past and I wanted to try something different.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the anniversary wishes! We did have a magical one.

The Boardwalk is great and is offically my second favorite resort. I have to say yhotugh it is a very close second. First in my heart is Yacht Club. I can't really tell you why but it just is. the rooms are set up almost exactly the same, both are probably eaqual in distance to Epcot, both are on Boardwalk, both have a quiet pool, both have great theme pools (although I do prefer Yacht Club's) but I am more a Yacht Club theme person (if you can understand that).

Our talkabouts are Microtalk FRS110.

You are right about the firework sit is Fantasmic that I have never seen. There are fireworks with that presentation aren't there?

Cape May Clam Bake is super. My husband is a very picky eater and her loved it. I am allergic to shell fish so I opted for the chicken and it was excellent. Our kids ate mac and cheese, fish and ribs. I don't think you can go wrong and everyone could find something they like.

The boats are great. We rode them one evening to for the ride on the lake. It is so easy going and relaxed. I will say that we had great weather and heat was not a factor.

:D ;) :p :) ;)

Thanks for posting your report! We'll be staying at the Boardwalk for 9 days in October and were hoping to have a slow paced, relaxing vacation. Now we know we can! (of course, on those days at the parks, we plan on doing the Rambo and riding every attraction as is humanly possible!)

Been there and done that! On our first trip to Disney we (DH 13, 9, 5 and myself) hit it so hard that I made my entire family hate the thought of Disney. We drove down in one day from Central Illinois, stayed for 3 nights and 4 days. We were up by 6 every day and in bed after 11 every night. the crowds were hugh, the heat overwhelming and lines were very long (the worst I have ever seen).

Our first day was a half day and the girls did the shops at the Market Place while the boys golfed then we met up and did the front half of Epcot ending with the fireworks.

Day 2 we did the WS at Epcot, MGM and Pleasure Island. Having no dinner because we waited in line at PH for 2 hours all the while being told it was a 20 minute wait, then went back to the room to order pizza and was told it was a 20 minute wait. My husband had had his fill and so ok that is it everyone brush their teeth and go to bed we will have a big breakfast in the morning. To this day that is our kids favorite story of our first trip to Disney.

Day 3 we did Magic Kingdom from EE till after fireworks.

Day 4 we hit Typhoon Lagoon and then started the long ride home.

At the time we thought it would be our one and only trip to Disney and I wanted to make sure everyone got to do and see everything they wanted not missing a thing. We did it all! Looking back at it all I accomplished was exhausting everyone, making myself crazy and teaching everyone that Disney was not a vacation but a lot of planning (I had been working with the travel agent since Jan, read the Birnbaum Guide and Unoffical Guide), hard work (packed for 2 weeks before we left, made schedules before we left and revised them nightly once we were there) and left you to tired (kids slept from Orlando to Alanta ate dinner and slept all night, got up got in the car and slept all of the way to Illinois, ate and slept all that night)to care about it.

To top it off the very next year we were asked to come to Panama City Beach, FL. We had originally purchased a hopper pass and still had one day left on it. I talked (more like bribed) everyone into going to Disney to use up our pass and drive over to Cape Canaveral. I was a little better this time. We drove again but this time taking 2 days. Upon arrival we checked in and then went to Cape Canaveral and did the tour. Came back to Disney, ate dinner and swam. The next day we got up and did the Magic Kingdom from EE till fireworks. On the last day we hit the rode and drove to PCB. Everyone was a little happier but still hated the crowds (did seem smaller than first trip though), heat and fast pace.

Both of these trip were the weekends of Memorial Day.

On our last family trip we went the first week in June. Did all of the parks but only hit the things we really liked and spent time every day at the Yacht Club pool. Of course now Animal Kingdom was here and so was Blizzard Beach so you know what that meant I had to show it all to them. AK was an easy morning and then it was off to BB. Small problem, hugh thunder storm. We ended up being stuck in the girls bathroom body to body with men women and small children for over an hour. When we finally braved getting out we found out the park was closing and not reopening. Now we had to make our way to the bus and wait in the rain. Things kind of ended on a bad note and the family has never made it all together to BB yet. They still said they liked that trip better than the first 2.

After the trip to Disney this may I asked the kids and my DH which trip was their favorite and they said this one no doubt! They even asked to come back and my DH is interested in the Vacation Club! Moral to this story let the kids tell you what they want to do, when they are tired and if they are having fun and you'll know your trip is a success!;)

hi, that was a great trip report! two questions, please. what transportation did you use to get to the grand floridian tea? did you notice if the "roller coaster" pool" was very crowded every day of your stay?

When we went to our the GF Tea we rode the bus to Magic Kingdom and then walked to the monorail station and then rode to GF. It sounds complicated but it was very easy and only took about 20 minutes in all.

Yes, the Boardwalk's pool was busy every day that we saw it (evenings seemed to be less crowded though) and there were tons of little kids (babies-6). On the other hand the most we saw at the quiet pool was 8 counting our 4. Funny thing though when we went over to Yacht Club their pool wasn't near as busy as Boardwalks. Go figure?;)

Disneypal,

We are from the Bloomington/Normal area as well:) It's a Small World Afterall!! We are flying out of Bloomington this Friday to WDW @ 5:45 am:(

It is a small world. We flew out of Bloomington. Ran into another couple that were on the same flight with us 2 other times while we were at Disney.

I noticed on your profile that you were surprised at the cutbacks? So were we. Compared to our first trip there are a lot of differences. Compared to our most recent trip we noticed less merchandise in all stores even WS, less buses, no fun stats or jokes from the bus drivers, some changes on the buffet lines and so on. What did you notice?

Have a great trip!:D

thanks for your reply, disneypal. another pool question, please. did you notice what was the pool was like at the villlas section? large, small, crowded? thanks

Thanks for sharing. It sounds as though you had a very relaxing visit to WDW.

You are very welcome for the trip report. I hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did doing it! It is always nice to hear some nice things. Whenever something is not to our standards we spread the word so someone else doesn't go through the same ordeal but the same can be said for the things that do go as planned or even turn out better than planned!

I have a couple of questions now though:
1. What exactly is a tag fairy and what does it mean to be tagged?
2. In dahess's profile they mentioned that they were surprised as to cutbacks, I noticed some but they were not a problem. What have you all noticed and was it a problem or were they things where Disney could trim and not affect us in a negative way but save them money (that is just good business)?:D
