Cast of Characters: Bonnie (me!) 43, obsessive trip planner
Shane (DH) 45, just rolls with my trip plans!
Shayna (DD) 18, obsessed with all things Disney. Going to university in the fall
Ben (DS) 15, who states that if he has to hug Mickey one more time, he’s going to scream, but I think enjoys himself more than he cares to admit!
Jarrett (DS) 13, who doesn’t really care where we go as long as he isn’t in school!

Day 6:

Began a rainy day at Epcot. Finally took the kids to Ice Station Cool and everyone but me drank the Beverly! Too funny! Headed to Living Seas and Turtle Talk with Crush. What a wonderful attraction! We really enjoy spending time at Living Seas and didn’t rush through this time.

Headed out early for our PS at WCC at Wilderness Lodge. I knew we would enjoy looking around this resort because we built a timberframe addition on our house and really appreciate wood! Our PS was for 12 noon and we were a little early. We were seated on time, and I was looking forward to an entertaining lunch. Unfortunately, we were disappointed! Our server tossed the napkins and straws and that was it. The whole place was subdued and I really didn’t see anything fun happening anywhere. Couldn’t even ask for ketchup because there were bottles on all the tables! We enjoyed our lunch – DH and I had the cold meat sandwich, DS had the pulled pork, other DS had the burger and I can’t remember what DD had. Kids really enjoyed the all you can drink milkshakes! Don’t think we will take the time to go here again.

After lunch we went to MK to catch some characters and see the parade. Even though it was raining, we had a wonderful time! We noticed Goofy in a corner on the right just inside the park and headed over. Hardly anyone there! After we took our pictures, a CM motioned us inside, only to find a whole bunch of characters just waiting to have their pictures taken! What a wonderful surprise! We finished just as the parade was starting, so we just watched from the front of Main Street. DH and youngest DS enjoyed sitting at a small table playing checkers while the parade went by! Enjoyed strolling around the park and headed out around dinner time.

We weren’t terribly hungry but everyone was determined to get back to Earl of Sandwich one more time! Headed to DTD and split some very tasty sandwiches.

We jumped on a bus from DTD to Yacht/Beach Club to get to Epcot quickly. Wasn’t exactly sure where we were going, but once we figured it out, we really enjoyed the walk and realized that we didn’t have to walk through Future World to get to World Showcase – we got in the backdoor! Very convenient! We had never seen Illuminations on previous trips, so we staked out a spot right next to the outdoor seating area at Rose and Crown. I thought it was pretty good, and we really enjoyed seeing the show! Unfortunately, there was a group of young adults who were standing behind us and were having too good a time talking and drinking to notice the show! It’s sad when tired, young children are better behaved than adults who should know how to behave!

Walked back through Future World and caught the bus back to POR. As any Disney nut knows, it’s so hard to leave, knowing you won’t be back for awhile!

Spent some time at the POR pool and called it a night. In the morning, we were off to spend a week in the Florida Keys!

Comments and Observations:

Crowds were much better than I had expected.

For the first time, we did not do the trip ‘commando’ style. I think we enjoyed the trip more that way.

Anyone notice the wonderful orange blossom fragrance that fills the right corner just inside MK? Those orange trees are beautiful and that smell is intoxicating!

I thought the improvements to the castle were wonderful, EXCEPT for the oversized medallion on the front! What is that?! We all found it took away from the beauty of the castle itself. JMHO…

Transportation was great as always. DH loves to just leave the car in the lot and not worry about driving around.

The beauty and serenity of POR just can’t be beat! We had hoped to see Bob the Piano Player, but he wasn’t playing the nights we could get there.

CM’s were friendly and accommodating. Considering what they have to put up with, it’s a wonder they can still smile!

As I explained to our friends – it’s all in the details at Disney. We so appreciate all the little details that go into making it the most magical place on earth!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. I agree with you about the smell as you walk into MK - it's enchanting! I also really appreciate the dining reviews that you integrated - seems that we will be making a trip to DTD for Earl of Sandwich this year!

I agree I have much more patince for excited young children on a magical vacation then drunk adults who just don't care about respecting others!

Great trip report. Thanks for writting.

Thank you for a wonderful trip report! It gets me really excited for our trip next month. Also after reading this I am adamant we will go to Earl of Sandwich this trip no matter what!!!

I love how you took your time, didn't let the crowds bother you, and just enjoyed the experience...I am hoping that we can do this again on our next trip, because you are right, it does make a difference. Especially with kids, they can catch on to stressed out moms and dads so easily. I am so in a Disney frame of mind, Pumba I look forward to reading your report! You are so lucky your time is so close!
