knock knock knock....is this thing on???? Anyone home???? ;)

I am here!!!!!! People always told me that student teaching takes up a huge chunk of your time, but my goodness, I do not think I was prepared for this!! Everything is going well though and I only have a few more weeks to go before the official job search begins.

I have not forgotten about you guys and I promise to finish this TR before 2008! :lmao:

Have a great last week with your pre-service teaching!:teacher: Just be prepared-teaching on your own takes just as much time! It really is worth it though when you get through to a student, or when you see the light bulb go on!

Don't worry bout it!! You've done a lot better with your TR than I have mine! I've started teaching a bit too, and I sympathise greatly!!

How is the wedding planning going?!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!
pumh.gif
I am here!!! My goodness, I feel terrible that my TR got so neglected and ended up in the TR wasteland! However, with this Thanksgiving comes Turkey, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pie, and my favorite of all: DAYS OFF from Student Teaching! Now, don't get me wrong, I love my Kindergarteners and I am gonna cry like a baby on my last day, but student teaching has meant that I have not been able to spend much time DISing, and that is never a good thing! I will promise that sometime over the next 3 days there will be an update! There is so much to fill everyone in on, like DF and my Honeymoon plans! Of course, all will be revealed in due time and I may even need your guys' expertise planning and tips! So with that, I want to wish every a very Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving and stay tuned for an update....FINALLY!!!!!!!

Student teaching does take up lots of time...I clearly remember it! But soon it will be over and then you can really get busy!!!!!
Wait till you try to balance children and teaching and a hubby and housecleaning and running kids to activities and whatever activities you get involved in: sewing and horsebackriding and Dis' ing and......(fill in the blank):rolleyes1  :sad2: But anyways...

Happy Thanksgiving!!!! From all of us :cheer2: :cheer2: !

Happy Thanksgiving!
Can't wait to read the next installment!

Epcot - Part II.

When I left off, we were nearly 30 minutes late for our ADR at Alfredo’s. We had just road Soarin’ with our “Fast”passes and were now on way to way to lovely Italy pavilion in the World Showcase.

Now, I don’t think you can really fathom how far Soarin’ is from the Italy pavilion unless you power-walk/jog to it on an empty stomach. Not only was it extremely far and we were extremely hungry, but it was extremely hot and humid! We walked into the World Showcase and had to quickly decide if we should we go left (towards Mexico) or right (towards Canada). Seeing that Italy was on the complete other side of the park we chose left in hopes to grab some Fastpasses for one of my favorite Epcot rides, Maelstrom, on the way. Afterall we already extremely late for our ADR, we figured a few more minutes wouldn’t make a difference. To our disappointment the Fastpasses for Maelstrom were sold out. Of course, there was no time to become distressed in Norway, so we broke back into our slow jog towards Italy.

Mama mia that was a long walk!! We finally made it to Italy. We walked into Alfredo’s looking very disheveled and not to mention very sweaty from our long haul. We told the CM that we had ADR’s for 5:00 and gave him our name. I was really surprised that they were still going to honor it, but he probably saw our Just Engaged pins and our sorry appearance and felt bad for us. The nice Italian CM, who had some Italian name which I cannot remember, but I thought it was funny at the time, told us that it was going to be a few minutes before our table was ready. There were not many seats in the waiting area of restaurant so while the rest of DF’s family took a seat, I decided to go take some pictures of Italy, my family’s homeland. (dragging DF with me of course)

I felt the need to take many pictures with the partially nude statue. :rotfl:

I also felt the need to take a picture under this tree which was near the nude statue.

IMG_1494.jpg

Nothing like a couples photo in front of the nude guy!

After about 20 minutes, they called our us to our table, I was very excited for this meal since it was real Italian food, something I had been missing on this vacation!

We were brought to our table and our waitress took our drink order right away. I already knew what I was going to order, fettuccini alfredo, my favorite pasta dish ever!! It took a little while for everyone to look over the menu and decide what they wanted, so in the meantime I took more pictures.

IMG_1488.jpg

Very pretty inside the restaurant.

IMG_1487.jpg

Waiting to order...

We finally did order our food and enjoyed the live music and napkin twirling, everything was very authentic and I could just picture my big crazy Italian family having a great time at this restaurant.

My fettuccini arrived and it was piping hot, it looked so gooey and cheesy, I was way too excited to dig in! I got out my fork, twirled the noodles onto my fork and took a bite...I was expecting it to be much better than it was. It wasn’t bad, it just was not what I was expecting. It had a weird cheesy taste to it...I know what you are thinking...”Julianne, alfredo sauce is a cheese sauce.” And while I agree with you, I have to say, it was too strong of a cheese. I think it needed something more, maybe garlic, maybe chicken, I am not quite sure, but I wasn’t blown away by it.

DF got the lasagna and says it was good. I asked him elaborate, but he is currently the Chicago Bears game and that is all I am getting out of him at the moment. Oh well.

Even though I was not blown away by my dinner, I still ate it and it really filled me up. I didn’t even finish the entire thing because it was so rich, alfredo usually does that to me, except at home I can wrap it up, take it home, and eat it for lunch the next day. Not the case at Disney though! They need to instill some kind of doggy bag service.

When our bill came, we felt something was wrong, upon reviewing it we found that our waitress had charged us for 15 drinks instead of 5...it made quite the difference in the bill as you could imagine. She apologized and fixed it right away. After we paid we decided to slowly walk (because we were so full) to Norway and wait in line for Maelstrom since there was no other choice seeing that Fastpasses were sold out.

When we got to Norway, we saw that the line didn’t look too bad, as we got closer to the entrance we saw everyone filing out, a CM informed us that Maelstrom was closed and he did not know if it was going to reopen. This day just kept getting better and better. I was so sad that we weren’t going to be able to ride it just as I was sad that we weren’t going to ride Test Trak...it just was not a good attraction day at Epcot today!

Instead of riding with the Vikings we made our way to Mexico.

DisneyPhotoImage24.jpg

Stopping for a Photopass picture before we walked in though.

I love the inside of the Mexico pavilion. It is so pretty in there, you really feel like it is night time. I love the romantic atmosphere!! We immediately got in line for the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the 3 Caballeros (The Mexico boat ride, as it is otherwise called around here). I know they had changed this ride a little and a lot of people were upset about the changes, but I still liked it and thought it was very relaxing to ride. I love the beginning when you ride by all the people eating dinner in San Angel Inn. We had the joy of sitting with Matthew on this ride, making it not the most romantic of rides...oh well, that is what our Honeymoon will be for.

After taking our non romantic ride through Mexico we did a little shopping and sight seeing around the pavilion.

IMG_1496.jpg

We realized the Future World was still open and we wanted to see if we get a few more attractions in since we weren’t going to be back in Epcot on this trip. We walked back into Future World, took yet more pictures (maybe this is why we got nothing done all day :rotfl2: ), and decided that everyone wanted to ride Journey into the Imagination with Figment next.

IMG_1500.jpg

We walked right onto Figment, just like always, and enjoyed the sights and sounds. You know that part at the end where the lights go off and the wind blows you away or something...I always forget about that part and scream. I am probably the only person on the face of this earth that screams while on Figment...oh well, I guess it makes me special.

After Figment it was time to decide what to do next. Janna and Karen wanted to ride Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Ken wanted to ride Mission Space (and we had Fastpasses for that). I really just wanted to go back to the World Showcase and find a good spot for Illuminations and get a Funnel Cake from America. Since no one could decide on one thing to do, we all split up. Some of us ended up going to Honey I Shrunk the Audience, but I passed on it. There is that one scene with the mice that I can do without. I think Ken and Jeff went to ride Mission Space, I asked DF if he wanted to ride that too because I know he really likes it, but he passed and decided that it would be best to split off and find a place for Illuminations. (He is so good to me)

We all decided to meet back at the car after the park closes. And with that we split off for the night. DF and I walked back into the World Showcase and this time decided to go right (towards Canada). We were on a mission to find those funnel cakes so we didn’t stop to see any of the other pavilions. This is something I really want to do on our honeymoon. I want to take one night just to explore the World Showcase because I have never really had an opportunity to take it all in. We still had nearly an hour to kill before illuminations so we decided to hold off on getting the funnel cake just yet (we like to eat it during fireworks).

We walked to the America pavilion when I had the bright idea to check out the American Adventure Rotunda because I knew that was one of the options where you could hold your Disney Wedding reception, and I just had to check it out. Since we were engaged now, impromptu wedding planning was acceptable (remember this was back when a Disney Wedding was a distinct possibility).

We walked into the American Rotunda and we were amazed that there were no people inside We even wondered if we were allowed to be in there.

For some reason, we didn’t take pictures of the inside, but I found these online and if we were to take pictures they probably would have looked like this:

wedlocar2.jpg

wedlocar3.jpg

As we were looking around and I was making seating arrangements in my mind and picturing what centerpieces would compliment this venue, an elderly CM approached us. I thought he was going to ask us to leave because I thought the Rotunda was closed or something, but instead he started asking us questions and asked us where we were from. He started talking to us about the Rotunda and told us that if one person stands on one side of the circle and another on the direct opposite side, you can hear them speak if they were to whisper. After he said that, I knew DF and I just had to try it to see if it was true. And low and behold, the CM was right, if you whisper, the other person can hear you clear as day. It was a neat trick, I suggest you try it out sometime! :wizard:

He then noticed our pins and congratulated us, he even asked if we knew the Rotunda could be used for a Disney Wedding (obviously we did!). He then asked us to follow him and took us near the entrance to the phone he told us to dial a number and listen closely. It was Mickey and Minnie wishing us a Happy Honeymoon, of course we weren’t on our honeymoon, but I still thought it was nice gesture. We felt very special. He then told us he had something for us...hmm...does the Dream Team disguise themselves as elderly men? He returned and wrote us up a magical moment certificate for our engagement. I was so excited to get a certificate.

We were ready to say goodbye to our new best friend, but he then insisted that we follow him to the Liberty Inn just down the way. Of course, we obeyed and followed him, but we had no idea what was going on! The restaurant was full of people eating dinner, as he walked in with us and yelled “Here ye, here ye!!” and announced our engagement to all the strangers!! Everyone was clapping and cheering for us, it was truly an amazing moment. Our favorite CM led us to the one of the windows and told the CM that we had gotten engaged our vacation, the other CM congratulated us and gave us a free Apple Cobbler dessert. We weren’t going to get funnel cake anymore, this was way more special! As we walked out, he announced our names again and we were showered with another round of applause and cheers from the Liberty Inn! We thanked him profusely for his generosity and went to find a cozy place to watch Illuminations.

Our certificate and dessert!!

DF and I were very happy with our decision to skip out on Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Mission Space! Since Illuminations was going to be starting soon, we had to stand up to enjoy our Apple Cobbler, and just for your information, it was very good!!

We enjoyed Illuminations the best we could standing up. It is such an amazing show, I never get sick of seeing it! After the show we decided to wait for the crowd to thin out before we ventured out of the park, we found an empty bench which looked onto the water and enjoyed being in Disney together and engaged. It was actually a very romantic moment.

We then remembered that everyone was probably waiting for us at the car and decided that we should start trekking back. I could’ve stayed there forever though; it was so beautiful seeing the World Showcase all lit up around the lagoon.

As we walked to the exit, we saw a Photopass photog taking pictures of families in front of Spaceship Earth in the same spot that we had taken pictures that morning. We did not pass up the opportunity to have a picture taken with Spaceship Earth all lit up.

DisneyPhotoImage22.jpg

After our last photopass picture of the day, we continued to walk to our car and said goodbye to Epcot.

Although we did not get to see many of the attractions and our day didn’t go as planned, it actually ended up being one of our favorite nights of the trip.

Sometimes I guess it is best not to plan every minute of everyday...

When we got to the car we couldn’t wait to tell everyone what had happened in America! We retold it with great detail and before we knew it we were home and exhausted. We went straight to sleep in hopes of resting our feet for the big day at Animal Kingdom. Tomorrow we vowed to get to Animal Kingdom at opening so that we wouldn’t have same problem as today. I fell asleep in minutes and couldn’t wait to try out Expedition Everest!

Up Next: Animal Kingdom: Justin and Julianne Style!! --find it on p. 29, post #421

Wow! What a great CM :thumbsup2 Kudos to him. What a wonderful experience he gave you. Even though you didn't get to do all you wanted, it still sounded like a great day, and romantic in parts too. ;)

Glad to hear you are still enjoying your teaching and I hope you had a good Thanksgiving break!

Thanks for the update! I love World Showcase at night! It's so romantic, even witht he kids tugging on me! Believe it or not, I have never seen Illuminations! I hope to catch it on Saturday night, though!:cloud9:

Great update, Glad to hear you were still able to eat there. Cant wait to hear about AK.

What a lovely night!!! Sounds like a really good time. I think we sometimes get caught up in the overplanning and forget to allow for a little fun, carefree, who knows what'll happen time. I love that the CM made such a deal for your engagement! I can't wait to see what happens on the honeymoon!!!!

I hope everything is going well. I cannot wait to read more about your trip.. and if you ever get a chance - I started to write my report.

Happy Holdiays!

Wow..I cannot believe that I have not finished by TR...that is terrible, my account should be revoked here on the DIS! :sad2: But in my defense, life has gotten a little crazy...

I FINALLY graduated college in December, I finished my student teaching 1 week before graduation and I was so sad to leave my class...yes I cried.

Then, the day before graduation, my grandma passed away. She had a stroke while she was baking Christmas cookies with two of my aunts. It was very sudden and unexpected. She had a mild stroke the year before but fully recovered and was doing great. We were all around her bedside in the hospital when she passed and it was very hard to say goodbye, but I am glad that I had the opportunity to do so because I know a lot of people do not get the chance. But, we know she is happy because she is now with my grandpa and that is all she has wanted since he passed away in 2001. So, this is all happening the day before graduation and I didn’t want to go to my graduation, but my parents made me and I know my grandma would have wanted me to go. We then had the funeral arrangements set for Christmas Eve so our holiday celebration was not a celebration at all.

So once the holidays came and went I started looking for a job, but as we know teaching jobs where I live are hard to come by to so I have not had much luck. You would think that since I am unemployed at the moment that I would have oodles of time to Trip Report, but No. Those teacher applications are so long and time consuming that it literally takes up most of my day! :surfweb: Haha not to mention that I have been sick with every cold and flu imaginable since October, and I never get sick! All this and planning the wedding, which we now have our venue, photographer, officiant, and DJ! It is almost time to start looking at dresses! Yippie! (We also started planning our Disneymoon! More on that later  )

Anyways, if you do not mind, I would like to finish my TR and I hope that you will still join me for the rest of it! =)

And now I present...Animal Kingdom: Justin & Julianne Style!....
