Our Magical Trip of a Million Dreams, Wishes & Surprises~Engaged at Disney(6/26 p30)

You both should get together and write a short story or a novel or something! I think a lot of people would buy your story from the sounds of the comments!
Keep them coming and thanks again for sharing! It's such a wonderful story. (And maybe you could one day write the "long middle story" about how you actually started dating too)

Isn't it fun how much strangers are enjoying your lives! ;)

THE SEARCH:
Tony being the awesome soon to be uncle-in-law that he is (and god father to Cinderella16), hopped in his car and drove around his neighborhood in search for the mailman. He tried his best to find the mailman. If he could not find him then I would not be getting the ring. God knows when I would have a chance to get it again. Just as Tony was ending his trip around his neighborhood…he saw him! I could not believe it when he told me he found the mailman! He got the package from him and life was good again! It was a good thing he knew this mailman well. Go Tony! I owe him for that! :thumbsup2

Tony told me that he had to tell his wife because if she found a very nice engagement ring in his suitcase for a “business trip” then he could be in a lot of trouble. I understood and said that it was fine. I also thought it was quite funny. :rotfl:

PICKING UP THE RING!
Tony was coming in on a Thursday, which meant I had to take a day off of work. I just couldn’t let Cinderella16 know I was taking the day off. I told her that there was a production issue in one of the Walgreens stores and that I would have to go out to that store for the entire day. She would not expect a thing now when she tries to call me at my desk and I do not answer. On that Thursday morning I got a call from Tony and he said his flight was delayed by a few hours so I got to sleep in late. I picked up Tony at O’Hare airport around 11:00am and he had to be at his conference in Lake Forest by noon. I shot down 294 as fast as I could. We found a subway and ate really fast. He gave me the ring. This was the first time I got to see it completed because when I purchased it, it was just the stone. I dropped off Tony at the conference, told him thank you, and I was on my way! I was never at O’Hare airport before, and let me tell you, that will be the last time I go there. It is a mad house!

PLANNING THE PROPOSAL
This was by far the hardest part. There were so many things I could do. I even tracked down the FairyTaleBride on this forum for ideas. Btw, thanks FairyTaleBride for all the ideas. This was not an easy task to find her either. The only thing I had to go off of was Cinderella16 saying there was a girl who became a Dream Maker on the forum. Great, only 143,000 users to search through! :surfweb: After many hours of searching the DIS, I found her.

Here were my three options I came up with and some of the pros and cons I considered.

1. Propose during dinner inside the Magic Kingdom Castle.

Pros:
- It was inside the castle!
- It doesn’t get any more Cinderella’e then that.

Cons:
- I would have to wait all day to propose.
- I would have to keep that secret until 6:00pm at night.
- I’d have to carry the ring with me until then.
- She might expect this.
- My entire family would be there.

2. Propose during a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness.

Pros:
- Also very Cinderella’e
- Romantic and just the two of use.

Cons:
- She would think something is up if we had to leave the Magic Kingdom to go for a carriage ride. I would definitely lose the element of surprise.
- Takes away hours at the magic Kingdom, which I know she would not like! Less time for the castle is not a good thing, haha!

3. Propose at the fountain behind the Magic Kingdom.
Pros:
- Special to us because this is our tradition of making a wish every year at this fountain.
- I could do it first thing in the morning. This had its own pros…
- I wouldn’t have to hold onto a ring all day and possible lose it in the park.
- Less time for me to mess up my plan.
- She would be engaged all day, which would make the day even better.
- She would be able to see the ring in the sunlight (more sparkly).

- It didn’t take a way time at the park.
- Element of surprise would still be there.

After weighing all my options I decided to go with option #3, proposing at the fountain behind the castle. All that was left now was to get to Disney and actually propose!

PACKING
We would be in Disney for our 5 year anniversary so I knew that she would be suspicious of something. Because of this I made my mother put the ring in her suitcase. I thought for sure when I left the room that she would be searching through my bags to see what she could find. She was actually very good and did not do this (at least not that I know of). It never hurt to be safe though. I couldn’t have anything spoil my plan now.

THE NIGHT BEFORE / MORNING OF THE PROPOSAL
I still wasn’t sure how I was going to get her to the back of the castle. I wanted to get a photo pass person there as well so they could take more professional pictures. I was discussing the plan with my mother the night before and the morning of. The plan was that we would get to the park by 9:00 when they opened. We would split up for shopping first thing in the morning. We were able to use this excuse because we agreed to get each other something engraved as our anniversary present. When we split up I would get the ring from my mom, they would go to the back of the castle and get their cameras ready for pictures and also find a photo pass person, and then I would meet Cinderella16 in a store or some place and we would go over to the castle. That was the plan… but that is not what happened!

We don't always like to remember that because there was some bad times in there...

This is soooo romantic, you put so much thought in this.
Cinderella is truly marrying her prince!!

I am loving it!! You have a great writing style and provide many details!! That is too funny that he drove around to find the mailman. I am loving it so far!! Where is Cinderella16? She needs to be reading this!! =]

I am loving your version of the story. It is great to hear about how you pulled it all together and planned that special day.

Okay Cinderella and Prince Charming,

I've not been checking you TR for a while and I see that you are as bad as I am (though I am probably worse). It is very nice to see his perspective here.

Way to go with the planning! I found my ring in the glove compartment while I was putting away an oil change receipt. But I love it and we're celebrating 10 years in October.

this story just keeps getting better, I love both sides of the story and the fact that her Uncle hunted down the mailman!!!:rolleyes1

I am loving this whole story! Keep it coming!

Wow, I dont check my thread for 3 days and I come back to this! :lmao: See I promised he was writing it!

I actually read his side of the story before he posted it a few days ago and I was very impressed. I think he is doing a very good Trip Reporting job. Maybe we'll have to do a dual TR for our Disneymoon. :thumbsup2

Thanks DF for keeping my thread alive while I slave away at student teaching. Now that is true love! I love you!!

I am glad you are all enjoying his side of the story and I hope you stay tuned for the rest of my TR...I promise I will get around to it as soon as I can, life is just really getting in the way! I am off to bed now, good night all!

WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED:
We get to the park on time as planned. So far so good. Immediately we needed a washroom break. I saw a good opportunity to get the ring here so I told my mother to give it to my brother and give it to me in the washroom. That was easy, I now had the ring. :goodvibes Now all we had to do was split up for a bit so they could get the photo pass person and be ready and hide at the back of the castle.

I took Cinderella16 to the shops on the right side of Main Street and my family went to the left. I took her into the Arribas Brothers glass shop and we looked around for a while. Meanwhile, my family was supposed to be heading to the back of the castle. We looked around the shop for about 7-10 minutes. I figured this was enough time. We walked out of Arribas brothers and back on to Main Street and what do I see??? My family! They are in the middle of Main street and have not moved! Actually, they are BEHIND us! :scared1: What the h*ll! I still don’t know what they were doing! Now what am I supposed to do. It is all improv from here on out!

Cinderella16, myself, and my entire family are all now standing in the middle of Main Street with no idea of what we should do next. :grouphug: We are like chickens with our heads cut off. Finally, my Aunt says, Matthew (her son), wants to watch the show they had up on stage by the castle. I picked up on where she was going with this. I offered to go get the fast passes for Splash Mountain. My Aunt said we should meet at the back of the castle once we get the fast passes.

Cinderella16 and I start walking really fast towards Splash Mountain. Meanwhile, she is very p*ssed off. :sad2: She is yelling at me and getting all angry saying it doesn’t make any sense for us to go all the way to Splash Mountain, get fast passes, and then walk all the way back to the castle which is against the traffic that will be released from the show they had on stage. Plus, the next attraction we planned on going to was Pirates, which is near Splash Mountain, so we would have to walk back to where we were. Cinderella16 was using many words that are not Disney “approved” as we headed over to Splash Mountain. I am trying to keep her in the best mood I can but she is already very annoyed. I think fumes were coming off the top of her head. We finally got to a park early one day and we are making all kinds of mistakes and wasting time! This is what she was not happy about.

We got our fast passes and headed to the back of the castle. As we are walking towards the back of the castle I see my Aunt walking around. I pretend I do not see her and keep walking. We are only about 20 feet away from the fountain. Cinderella16 sees her and calls out her name. She sees us and then turns around and walks the other way. Meanwhile, I handed Cinderella16 a penny to go make a wish. I also have a penny to through in. We get to the fountain and we throw are pennies in. I flicked mine in, but Cinderella16 chucks her penny into the fountain as if she was a pitcher for major league baseball. I asked her what she wished for and she told me she could not tell me. Then she walks away, still very mad. I had to grab her by the arm and pull her back. I asked her what she wished for and again she said she couldn’t tell me. Then I pulled the box out of my pocked, got down on one knee, and asked her if she would marry me. Her jaw dropped like I had never seen. I could tell I got my element of surprise there.

I would imagine that most women would respond with a “YES!” or a high pitched scream of some form. Not mine though, she responded with “Are you kidding me?” She did say “YES” at one point while I was holding her though. All the people around us were clapping and my family was surrounding us with picture taking. She was not aware of any of it so I made sure I told her while she was hugging me. “You know my entire family is behind you taking pictures, right?” She was totally clueless. I finally got to place the ring on her finger, and what do you know… a perfect fit. Ok, so it’s not a glass slipper, but it will have to do. :woohoo:

She stood there in shock for a while and I was happy she said yes. I knew she would though. I wasn’t even nervous about that. I was more nervous about my plan getting messed up…which almost happened on more then a few occasions. A photo pass person never did show up, but that was the only thing that really went wrong.

I was happy I waited to do it in Disney. It was very special and I know both of us will remember it for the rest of our lives. I have a feeling I remember it a little bit better though because she was completely out of it that day after the proposal. She didn’t even remember seeing Captain Jack Sparrow on the Pirates of the Caribbean (which is the ride we went on right after I proposed), and she was looking forward to that for the entire vacation.

Well that concludes my side of the story. I hope you all enjoyed it. That took a very long time to write. And if there are any boyfriends out there who plan on proposing to their girlfriends in Disney here is my one piece of advice…. “DO IT! But make sure you have a very good plan… make blueprints and flowcharts if you have too!” Sorry, that’s my computer nerd side coming out. I hope you enjoyed the story. popcorn::

Ohhh, it was so magical!! You made me feel like I was standing there with your family! You two make a great couple! Cinderella have fun with the student teaching!
