Today is a "free" day for everyone - we are all doing as much (or as little) as we feel like doing. I slept late and didn't get up until about 11:00 a.m. (I guess I was pretty tired). Larry, Tara and I, along with my parents, decided to go for lunch at Downtown Disney today. My dad was in the mood for New England clam chowder, so we stopped at Olivia's to ask if they were serving that this particular day. The server said they weren't, but if we were going to be there the next day, they would make sure they had some prepared for us. Unfortunately, we were leaving the next day, but I thanked her for the offer and she said to remember (for our next stay) that they would take requests like that a day ahead. I thought that was such an above and beyond type of response, but typical of many of my Disney experiences. We took the bus to Marketplace and walked to Captain Jack's for lunch. The food here was super good and we had a window seat by the water, which made for a pretty view! I had a tuna sandwich on a croissant, with a bowl of the aforementioned clam chowder. Larry and my dad got the crab melt (after my dad had a bowl of chowder), Tara got a shrimp and crab pasta dish, and my mom had a chicken caesar salad. We were all happy with our lunch and I would not hesitate to eat here again.

After lunch, Tara and I browsed through the Winnie the Pooh shop and the Disney Tails shop, where she bought some dog treats for our dogs at home. My dad and Larry had found seats by the marina and were enjoying the view and a beer. My mom decided she wanted to buy souvenirs in the World of Disney store, so Tara went with her and I stayed with my two favorite men. It was very peaceful and relaxing there - the weather had warmed nicely and there was a slight breeze, which we enjoyed while we watched people renting boats to take out on the lake and listened to the Disney music. My dad commented that this was really a nice time of year to come to Disney World. When my mom and Tara got back, my parents went to Ghirardelli's to get a banana split and Larry, Tara and I split a snow cone type concoction that we bought from a booth next to the marina. I enjoyed this very much - it was sweet, tangy, and very cold, which was perfect for this particular afternoon. Once we all finished our treats, we caught the boat back to OKW. Larry, Tara and I decided to get off at Saratoga Springs to say hello to our DVC guide. His wife is a performer in the Hoop-Dee-Doo show, which we were going to see that night, so we were hoping we could set my DBIL up for some high jinks at the show!

We bought a few things in the gift shop there, and then went over to say our hellos. Our guide assured us that his wife was already aware that we would be there tonight and everything was taken care of - we were really excited about this and could not wait for the show. We took the boat from Saratoga Springs back to OKW and rested up until time for our dinner. We drove over to the Wilderness Lodge, valet parked our cars and then took the boat to Ft. Wilderness. We checked in for the show and soon we were enjoying the food and drink there and clapping along with the performers! Not only did DBIL get up on stage for part of the show (and he was really great - he was the Indian), but one of the performers chose my dad to "pick on" during the show. She asked him his name and he said he forgot! Of course, he was only joking and she asked him to "toot" for her (for those of you who haven't seen this show, this involves tooting like a train whistle) which he did. Then later on, she decided she wanted to kiss someone and it should be my dad! He hastily wiped his face (he had been eating chicken and ribs) and met her halfway!! Oh, all of it was so funny - truly great memories for us. Once we got home, we called our guide and asked that he convey our thanks to his wife for making the show so much fun for all of us - it was a wonderful way to end our trip.

We then took the boat back to Wilderness Lodge, and this was a cold ride. It was worth it, though, because we got to see about 2/3 of the Electric Water Parade - that was an unexpected surprise which we all enjoyed. We walked back through the Wilderness Lodge, which my DBIL referred to as a "log cabin on steroids," and made our way back to OKW.
