Day 4:Tuesday June 8th, 2010: Animal Kingdom!!

We were up bright and early this day because we were so excited to get started-DH's anniversary gift was a-comin! I had booked us the Wildlife Discovery Excursion (ending in December 2010 now! :sad1:) for 10:00 am! We had a Club Lounge breakfast of bagel, yogurt, and fruit. I had fallen in love with the Latte machine-Soooo good!!
Well we were on the bus by 8:15 am and on our way to AK. First a stop at GF to pick up some lovely folks, then a quick stop at BB to drop off, then AK here we come!! When we got to the turnstyles we were about 15 minutes from opening. Soon thereafter they actually started letting people in, but right away we realized there was something wrong. We were stuck in a lane with a broken machine. It wasn't reading people's tickets and all these other lines were moving in and we were just standing there! OMG it was so frustrating!!! We both tried to stay calm and not get upset, but it just felt like forever even though it was only a matter of about 12 minutes. We were let in about five after 9:00 and headed right for EE.
We got to EE and virtually walked on! We love that ride, it's so much fun. Just pure laughs and fun!! We grabbed a FP, and it was for 11:15. Then we decided to do single rider and walked right up, and got lucky on the same car! AND I was able to spot one of the hardest Hidden Mickey's on property, in the melted snow as you head up the mountain at the beginning of the ride!! Stoked!! After that it was time to race over to Africa to begin our Safari tour!
When we got to Africa, let me tell you, it was HOT. Holy hotness!! We bought a mister which was AWESOME! We love it and will bring it back on every trip. We were supposed to meet up with our group outside the Harambe Market, at 9:45 am. We were the first ones there, and were able to chat with our tours bus driver Sue, for a bit. She had been with the park since it opened and was great to talk to! Soon enough we were all rounded up, and walked BACKSTAGE (COOOOL!!!!!) to get on our private tour bus and head out onto Kilamanjaro Safari through our own entrance route. We were able to see a lot of really cool backstage areas. We saw where the hippos live and bathe, where all the laundry is done, where some of the vet services are....Super cool. They were also filming something with a little girl and what looked like Safari guides, but we couldn't figure out what it was. The tour bus basically turns onto the Safari route in between ride vehicles-pretty cool. And we were off on our safari!
Laura was our tour guide, and was so awesome. She was a veterinarian and had been with the Park for only 2 years. She specializes in the giraffes, and told us a lot about them. She also showed us real giraffe pellets!! EW!! But they were preserved and fully laquered so it really wasn't too gross, just cool to see what giraffe poop looks like lol. We also got to see a splintered piece of a Hippo tooth and it was so cool! HUGE! As we went along the safari, we would pull over in most of animal exhibits and just sit there for 5-10 minutes and examining the animals. Some giraffes even came over to our bus and were curious about us! They were so freaking cute. One thing I will say, is that with every ride vehicle that passed, the people on the ride were more interested in US and who we were than the animals!! They were staring at our van instead of watching the animals, it was really funny. Here are some great pics!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip263.jpg

The last pic is of a BABY RHINO!!! OMG!! Cutest thing I have ever seen in my life. He was like a toy! So flippin cute!!! After our tour we were given FP for Kilamanjaro Safari which was cool. Laura took our picture for us as well :)

DisneyAnniversaryTrip279.jpg

Then we raced back to EE to use our FP before it was time for our lunch at Yak and Yeti. EE was fun as ever, we even found a Hidden Mickey or two on the queue! I also was able to spot a Hidden Mickey that Mike COULD NOT FIND for the life of him, even standing in front of it with me pointing at it he was unable to see it until I went over and literally touched it. So cool!

On the queue:
DisneyAnniversaryTrip288.jpg

Outside the bathroom area, I found this one!!
DisneyAnniversaryTrip291.jpg

Then it was time for a well needed airconditioned lunch. And a cocktail for meeee!! I ordered a Patron margarita on the rocks with salt, and Mike ordered one as well. Unfortunately, the combo of super hot heat and a couple of sips of Patron sent Mike to sickville. He was NOT feeling well. I think it was heat exhaustion and partly dehydration, but he was nauseated and not even able to enjoy his lunch. So sad poor guy :sad2: :guilty:
I, on the other hand LOVED my lunch. I had a crispy Mahi Mahi with real sweet and sour sauce and it was soooo good. Omg. I can't get over it! For anyone who read my Dining Report I know you've seen this pic, but here it is again. YUM!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip293.jpg

Before we left I realized my drink had made a hidden mickey on my napkin!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip292.jpg

Mike was still not feeling well at all. We decided to stop and take a PP pic, and waited patiently as the photographer was busy with a family. All of a sudden this girl comes up and basically stands there closer to the photographer likes she's going to try to cut us! Really?!?! She was with her husband who was NOT trying to cut and was looking at her like "are you really doing this". I was not going to let her cut us, and the photographer wasn't either! He had seen us waiting there patiently and when he was finished he ignored her even though she was right next to him, and took us! It was great! She sat there with a sour puss on her face, but oh well! Beast!

In order to try and take Mike's mind off how he was feeling, we decided to go on a dedicated Mickey hunt. We were able to find a few really cool ones, and before long, Mike was feeling a bit better. We decided to hit the road around 2 pm, but before we left I told him I wanted to run over to KS and try to give away our FP for the ride. Yay for Disney Magic, and I was able to find a really cute young Irish couple to give them to. They didn't know about FP, and were walking away from the Safari because of the line. They were psyched when I explained that they could walk up right then and do FP!!

Here's my favorite Hidden Mickey of AK-there are a few of them scattered throughout the park, look for them next time!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip222.jpg

By now we were pooped! We hopped on a bus and headed back to WL, not knowing what we were going to do next!

Yay!!!!

So glad to have you back!!! :dance3:

I think you gotta get a new job...they've been keeping you away from here!!

Great installment!

That baby rhino is a-freakin-dorable! I love seeing baby animals! Do you happen to know why they're getting rid of the excursion??? I would love to do that!

HIIII!!!!

Lol about the job. It's great!! There is a LOT to learn, and I'm on a fast track for management, so I'm going to a lot of trainings, and just have very little free time to write. I love it there!! It's called Lululemon Athletica, and we make high quality yoga and athletic wear. The company is based out of Vancouver, Canada. They really care about their employees and the community as well. Check out the website!! www.lululemon.com

Omg the baby rhino was like, the cutest thing ever!! He was almost FAKE he was so cute. Just perfect. Nature is absolutely amazing.

I'm not exactly sure why they're stopping the excursion. It was exclusive to Club Level guests only, for one. I don't know how many people were booking it. There's a new excursion/tour they're doing, I haven't looked it up on here yet though. I know there is info out there on the new tour for sure. This one was $50 per person. You had to have park admission as well. I'm not sure of the cost for the new one either.

Day 4: Part Two

After we got back from AK, we decided to do the Sea Raycers which we had wanted to do Monday. I wasn't feeling like driving my own, I just wanted to cruise together and relax-I knew we wouldn't be able to go very fast. With two adults it really slows down the boat, but whatevs, I wanted to soak up the sun! So we took out a Sea Raycer and off we went!

All week we had been looking at the birds out on Discovery Island. Mike is semi-obsessed with DI after he read http://shaneperez.blogspot.com/2009/12/discovery-island.html a few months ago, and got really into it. The Club Lounge looked out over the Island and every morning HUNDREDS of birds would fly around in a huge circle over the island for about 5 minutes, then disappear into the trees. It was crazy to watch! So Mike of course wanted to get really close to the Island, and was driving me crazy!! But it was really cool to see all the old boat docks, and structures that were in there just rotting away. So creepy!! I have to admit it was pretty cool.

We then cruised along over to the Seven Seas Lagoon to check out the Poly and GF, and MK area. That was pretty fun, but a little scary because of the big ferry boat. I didn't want to get in its way! It is a really beautiful perspective of the monorail resorts from the Sea Raycer. I was having a great time! The sun was OUT and I was loving it!!

On our way back we went over to the abandoned River Country area. SO CREEPY!! OMG!! I just think its so weird yet fascinating that Disney has left it there to just overgrow and let nature have its way with it! The older gentleman down by the boat dock told us they were going to be revamping River Country, but I don't know how true that is. Overall it was an awesome trip out on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon! We would definitely do this again.

After the sea raycers I was parched! We both got Patron margaritas from the pool bar and watched the geyser go off :thumbsup2 Then it was off to the WL Mercantile for some shopping, while Mike decided to hunt for more Mickeys. I got some yummy Goofy gummy snacks with my snack credits YUM! We met back up and snagged some cheese and crackers and veggies from the lounge, and went back to the room to shower and get ready for dinner.

We were SUPER excited for this dinner!! Yachtsman Steakhouse baby!! We had never eaten there, or anywhere at YC so we were psyched. We hopped a cab over there, and checked in for our ressie. Dinner was BEYOND yummy. It was pretty spectacular food wise. We both got Agave Nectar Margaritas and they were perfect, as they had been all week. After dinner we walked into EPCOT with about 45 minutes til Illuminations. We headed straight for France, where I got a Grey Goose slushie, and Mike hunted Mickeys!! There are some really cool ones at WS. We then got bored waiting in France and marched through the WS looking for more Mickeys!! Italy was awesome, so was Japan.
DisneyAnniversaryTrip335.jpg

DisneyAnniversaryTrip342.jpg

I LOVE that little store in Japan with all the candies and yummy snacks. I found myself there with a package of Mango gummies in my hand only to find out they only took cash!! Mike always has cash-and he chastises me for relying on my debit card too much and never having cash. Well folks, this is what it took for me to learn my lesson! I was unable to purchase my heavenly mango gummies (the kind my local Japanese restaurant gives you one per person of with each check....SOOOO GOOD!!) because I only had my room charge card/debit cards!!
We watched Illuminations from the area right outside WS after you leave Mexico. It was lovely! But we were in a hurry! We had decided to race over to MK to catch another night of SNFS. We raced out of EPCOT after Illuminations ended and hopped on the monorail. We made it to MK and had time to ride Splash! YES! Although I seriously HATE that they added that jet near the beginning that SOAKS the people in the back of the car. You used to be able to stay dry in the back seat! Now you get SOAKED! Not cool!! After the ride we had just enough time to head back over towards the Castle to watch SNFS. It's such an awesome show! After the fireworks we lingered in the shops for a bit until the crowds died down, then made it over to our empty bus stop (as usual!) and hopped a bus home. We were pooped!

Next day was our last day in the parks! DHS and TSM for the first time!! YES!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I am addicted to Trip Reports since we are leaving in 6 months (my dh is running the marathon!) so this is biding my time. I love your report and ILOVEPLUTO's. Your anniversaries are around the same as mine - June 8 - 13 years ago! We spent our honeymoon and first anniversary in Disney and have been three times with our kiddos! Love it!

Anyway...I know my kids would LOVE the hidden Mickey book. I didn't know there is one and they kind of got into it last time. What is it called? Nevermind...just found it on Amazon. I am ordering it as a surprise so thanks for the tip!

And I LOVE your tattoo! I need to know what's on the other arm though!

just found your trip report! sounds like you had an awesome time. I stayed at WL CL a few years back and just loved it. Would love to get back there soon! I'm trying to get my DBF to catch the disney bug. So far not much luck (though a quick trip to the food and wine festival last year showed him a different side of disney - one filled with fun cocktails) but he's at least along for the ride. we'll be heading back in march for my 30th. Can't wait to make all of my ADRs

I've been seeing those lululemon athletica places popping up all over lately. I know theres one at roosevelt field, I'll have to check it out.

(LOVE LOVE LOVE your tattoo. the color on it is amazing)

Hi! Thanks for joining in! That's so cool that your DH is running the marathon!! Very exciting!! Also very cool that we share a wedding week :goodvibes Yay for finding the Hidden Mickey book-it really makes every moment of the trip really fun, because there are Hidden Mickeys literally EVERYWHERE! The other arm has a unicorn, diamond ring, and cupcake and piece of candy. :thumbsup2

Hey there neighbor!!! The lululemon at Roosevelt Field is the one I work at!! Come visit!! Don't you just LOVE WL? It is seriously a home away from home. Yay for F+W too, I did that once many years ago and thought it was super fun. I'll throw you some pixie dust that DBF hops on the Disney love train asap!! :wizard::wizard: YAY for march birthday trip!!!!!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Oh and thanks about the tattoo! It's my baby, I take good care of it. :goodvibes:goodvibes

Day 5: Wednesday June 9th, 2010: DHS!!

This day started off late. We were supposed to be at DHS for Morning EMH and that did not happen. We both overslept, and woke up too late to make it. I got upset because of the whole MANIA over TSM, I knew the FP situation wouldn't be pretty. I was just bummin that we overslept. Mike basically slapped me out of it and said let's GO!! The sooner we get there the better. So off we went, stopping to grab a quick coffee and bagel from the lounge.

By the time we got to DHS and over to TSM it was 9:30 am. The standby line was 60 minutes and the FP we got were for 3:15 pm :scared1: Crazy! So FP in hand, off we went to ToT , one of my FAVES! We were excited because of the newly added special effects for Summer Nightastic. We got there and the sign said 30 mins for standby, and we hopped on line. It actually only ended up taking about 15 minutes or so, and we had a great ride! The effect is cool, they take a picture of the car full of people and then show it on the screen as the elevator doors open on the first stop (I believe). Then we hopped right back on the standby line and waited less than 10 minutes to ride. After that it was past 10:00 am and the standby line was up to 40 minutes. We decided to head over to American Idol Experience.

We are both big Idol fans and were really excited to do this. We had a really AMAZING singer in our show, and he won. I hope he ends up on the show, he was really good!! I can't remember his name right now lol, but he sang "For once in my life" and actually ROCKED it! We had a great time in the Experience overall and would definitely do it again for sure. I found the one Hidden Mickey there, on the set! Here's a pic! Since our window had opened, we raced over to RnR to FP it for later. Then headed to 50's Primetime Cafe for lunch!

DisneyAnniversaryTrip357.jpg

DisneyAnniversaryTrip356.jpg

We had never eaten at 50's PT before and we were PSYCHED! The lunch was super yummy and filling, and very entertaining. DH's fried chicken was soooo good, I wish I had ordered it! But it was a huge platter so I ate a good amount lol. We kind of sped things along at the end in order to make it over for Lights! Motors! Action! which Mike loooooves. We're big car people and really enjoy this show. We made it over to the theater and got seats in the middle all the way on the left. The show was great as usual, but man was it hot!!

After LMA! we did Star Tours which was nice and cool! And fun as usual! We then killed some time down by RnR with a frozen lemonade and the yummy sunlight. Then it was time for our RnR FP. We basically walked into the loading area, then waited less than 10 minutes for the ride. We were in the 2nd row which was AWESOME!!! That ride gets more and more fun each time I ride it. I'm definitely scared of the launch, so every time I get nervous right before we go, but I still love it!!

It was now time (FINALLY!) for our TSM FP. We made it over to Pixar Place and through the FP line, then stopped when the line backed up pretty far back. We realized we would be waiting for about 20 minutes (at least) even on FP! We were literally the last people on line, and we heard a CM going through the line front to back asking for a party of 2! NO ONE IN THE WHOLE LINE WAS A PARTY OF 2!!!?!!?!?! AMAZING!! She took us up and literally walked us onto the ride! SO COOL!!! :cool1::yay::woohoo: We both LOVED the ride. Mike whooped my butt with 42,000 and I got 38,000. It was a very fun ride, even though the last game our shooters weren't registering points. We tried to tell the ride attendant but he didn't really care much, it was kind of weird. We were like, No they're BROKEN you should check it out. lol. We were both pooped and decided to head out. We stopped by Starring Rolls and got a Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake to go. Omg it looked amazing!!

We got back to the room and just rested until it was time for dinner. We decided we wanted to be able to get another night of park time in, so we changed our Jiko ressie to a second dinner at Narcoossee's. The CM's at the Club Level were amazing and were able to get us a reservation that same day on really short notice. They rock!! Unfortunately, this dinner was not as amazing as our first one. We actually had the same table as Joanne and Eric a few days earlier, and the same server. We did not have the same luck with her at all! She completely ignored us most of the time, and really made our last dinner sucky!! We were happy to get out of there and race over to MK to catch one last night of SNFS.

When we got to MK we used up the last of our snack credits on Mickey rice krispy treats for us, and big lollipops to bring home for our little cousins. We also found a beautiful pair of iridescent blue Mickey head earrings for MIL (she loved them!), and a crystal etched Golfer Mickey mug for FIL with his name on it. It was in the Crystal Shop that Mike saw the glass blower and became totally entranced! He watched him blow pieces of the giant castle he was making. They told me the mug would be ready in an hour, and we headed off to find a spot for SNFS. Tonight Mike had the video camera, and we staked out a spot right on the street on the bridge in front of the castle, and settled in to wait. The fireworks were AMAZING this night, and the video really came out well. We've watched it a few times, and showed our friends who weren't able to get there this summer, and it is just such a special video. Yay for Mike filming it!!

After the fireworks we picked up the mug, and headed out to the buses. WOW. There were MASSIVE crowds of people at the POFQ stop, the SS stop, the POP stop...But no one at the WL bus stop!! As usual!! It was amazing! There was one other family at the bus stop, and we got to talking to them. They were super nice, and had two little boys and a little girl. They were from Dallas, TX so of course we started talking football lol. We ended up giving the kids some stickers, and as we were getting off the bus, I decided to give the little girl my light up Minnie head ring that I had worn all week to the fireworks. She still had 4 whole nights of magic to use it, after all. She was really happy, and her mom thanked us profusely. They were just great, and reminded me of the Disney magic that is everywhere.

We headed back up to the room, a little sad knowing that we would be waking up to pack to go home. We sat out on the balcony for awhile just enjoying the view for one last night.

Day 6: Thursday June 10th, 2010: Departure Day :sad1:

We woke up at 8:30 am and just sat in bed talking about our amazing week. We rolled out at about 9 am and Mike brought us back a Lounge breakfast to the room. I had raisin bran with 1% milk and it was delicious. We packed a bunch the night before, then finished up our packing and said goodbye to our amazing view.

DisneyAnniversaryTrip395.jpg

We then went downstairs and checked our bags through the airline check in, and left our carry ons with bell services. We then filled our mugs and went on a hunt for some more mickeys in our resort. We got lunch at Roaring Forks which was actually delicious. I got a huge tuna sandwich on multigrain bread, and Mike got a bacon double cheeseburger. We brought them up to the Lounge and ate our last meal up there. We then shared what has become the unforgettable cupcake. The Peanut Butter Chocolate Cupcake from Starring Rolls at DHS. Legendary! HOLY COW!!! This thing was just pure decadence. Holyness!! Soooo good!!! We shared it and still couldn't finish it all!!
Here's a hidden Mickey in the laundry bags!! Can you see them all??

DisneyAnniversaryTrip404.jpg

After we ate it was time to go wait for our Magical Express bus to take us back to the real world. Sad sad sad!! But I knew that I had a secret trip planned for Mike's birthday, and I decided to break the news to him! I couldn't keep the secret anymore! We were both so bummed to leave that I gave in and told him. He was ecstatic!! I'm really glad I told him, because it raised the mood for sure!! :thumbsup2 Now the ride home was much more tolerable! See folks, the only cure to Disney withdrawal, or the pain of Disney Separation is....PLAN ANOTHER TRIP!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Us at the airport. A really nice pilot saw Mike taking my pic and offered to take one of both of us! Yay!
DisneyAnniversaryTrip412.jpg

We had a lot of time to kill but we were not feeling shopping or lugging our stuff. We just settled in at the gate with some magazines and a Happy Meal for me and waited for the plane. It was great to see my parents who were there to pick us up when we got home after a pretty uneventful flight. We got to tell them all about our trip, which truly was our honeymoon, and felt so real. After such a sad turn of events on our real honeymoon, this trip has erased that completely! It was so full of magic, romance, excitement, adventure, and just plain FUN that it will always be remembered as our TRUE DISNEYMOON! :lovestruc:lovestruc:cloud9::cloud9:

Oh and thanks about the tattoo! It's my baby, I take good care of it. :goodvibes:goodvibes

oh funny! I feel like i've worked at every store in that mall (totally exaggerating) but since I left my last job there, haven't been back much. Which all might change if i get a PT holiday job again. And I totally need some awesome yoga clothes, so maybe i will stop by and say hi!

Thanks for the pixie dust. I have a feeling he'll enjoy it. He might never be a more than once a year kinda guy, but I have plenty of friends that would love girls only trips anyway, so either way, I get my way :) ha!

looking forward to your future installments!

Doesn't it just TICK you off when you wake up all quick and look at the clock and realized what time it is?!?! UGGGH! Especially since it was your last park day! UGGGGGGGHHHH! But you can make up for that on your next trip!

I know I said this before, but that seriously stinks about your last dinner of the trip...I'm glad you didn't let it ruin anything for you guys! :goodvibes

That was sooooo sweet of you to pass on your Minnie head ring to the little girl! I'm sure she was so stoked off it! Next time I want to bring like stickers or glow sticks or something to give to children...I think it really adds to the experience of your trip; being able to make someone else happy and I'm glad you were able to do that!

:lmao: Sorry, I just had to laugh at the picture of you two on the last day in your room...those are the FAKEST smiles EVER!!! :lmao: Seriously though, that's how we looked on our last day...you can totally tell in my Photopass pictures and in the pics on our last lunch at the Wave....so forced and fake :rotfl2:

Aww, your TR is done!

Now what??:lmao:

I am so glad that you guys had a true Disneymoon!!!! And happy you love your job!!!! Can't wait to read your next TR. When is DH's birthday?

Ok YES it totally ticked me off that we overslept!!! I was totally pissy. But Mike wasn't having any of it!! I'm glad for that, because if it were up to me, we wouldn't have gotten there as fast at all, or even gone! I wanted to change our plans. He was right!! Go Mike!!

I totally recommend bringing stickers to give out to little princes and princesses along the way. And some pirates too!! It was a truly special part of our trip to hand out stickers to little guys. We always asked the parents discretely first if it was ok, and usually it would be a family we were already talking to on the bus or on line or something, not just random strangers lol. There have been a few hot topic threads on this issue over on Theme Parks if you can believe it :confused3

Yeah those smiles are sad and fake lol!!! I remember your Wave pics!!! :rotfl:

NOW WHAT is 61 days mofo!!!!!!! Mike's birthday we arrive at WDW and have dinner in the Castle followed by MVMCP!!! Mike's absolute favorite ever!!! So excited! I'm going to start a pre-trippie soon. :cool1::thumbsup2

I am so glad that you guys had a true Disneymoon!!!! And happy you love your job!!!! Can't wait to read your next TR. When is DH's birthday?
