Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

I always seem to get in some sort of dispute with other shoppers in Walmart lol. I don't know what it is! I don't know how the ones on Texas are but up here they're just so dirty and rundown. I'm sure that both options would have been a nightmare though.

That's why I only go to newer Wal Marts. Some of the old ones are funky!! I just wish there was a Target close enough, that I could just go there.

wookie I've wanted to go to Red Lobster for years but none in the immediate area same thing with Outback :sad2:

I haven't been to an Outback in years. I think I was in high school, or just graduated, the last time I ate at one. We have a steakhouse, called Salt Grass, that we go to when we want a steakhouse. The DH can't eat steak, but they have an amazing bake potato soup, and Range Rattlers (a battered and fried jalapeno stuffed with a whole shrimp and cheese) that he eats instead of a steak. Then he steals some of my roasted mushrooms.

Saga of Bob update......so he never took his alarm wake up call (5am) off his phone since he retired well last week when I was using it I took it off. Guess what he is sleeping later now (8-9am) even if he has a hard time getting to sleep good right?

Nope now his new complaint is he slept too late and is too tired to get up and out to do or go any place :furious:

He has 2 Dr Appt on 9/16 and he better go, he threw out one of his meds after reading about the bad side effects, it was the one that made him walk around like a zombie sometimes but that was his fault since it said take 4x a day which I told him was once every 6 hours but he would take them as he wanted popping one two three or all four at once :headache::mad:

I give up the man is hopeless, he does the same thing with another med he takes same directions but he takes 2 in the am and 2 in the PM instead of spacing them out.

And he wonders why he feels bad

Ok vent over :crazy2:

 I am so sorry. I am not the best about taking my meds the way my doctor tell me to. Hopefully, the doctor can get him straightened out.

I am sorry I have been completely MIA since returning from WDW. I've been reading when I get a chance, but no time to comment or update. And I've just been in a funk as well considering everything going on here as well as no trips to plan for right now (not that I'd have the time, but it'd be a welcome diversion at least).

The day after we returned from Disney, my DH took my MIL to Prompt Care because she had a lump on her side and her back was really bothering her. To make a long story short, after an ultrasound, cat scan, and MRI, she's been diagnosed with cancer (probably stage 4, but they never really said). 22cm mass on her right kidney, 7.5cm mass in her colon, and many small lesions in/on her abs. The mass on her kidney is basically so large that it's pushing her other organs (liver and diaphragm). Did a biopsy and found it to be a sarcoma (which is one of the rarest kinds of cancers I guess). Now we're just waiting to hear whether the plan is to cut out as much as they can first, then chemo and radiation or chemo and radiation to shrink and kill as much as possible, then surgery, then more chemo and radiation. She's the strongest woman I know and the most stubborn, so she's ready and willing to fight at this point. Prognosis is at least a bit better of survival rate compared to what we were originally thinking, but I think we're well aware that time is limited even so...they can do a lot with the combination of surgery and chemo and radiation, but it's obviously not curable...

Couple that with a new job for me and the stress levels in the house have been hard to take...

*hugs*

 I am so sorry about the mil and all of the other stress.

We have made some changes to our August trip. Good ones, I think. First, we added a night. So now we are 9 nights, from 8/16/14 - 8/25/14!!! :yay:

You might recall that we are normally 10 night peeps but it was a touch too long last time. Well, the kids told us that the next time we go, we should stay 12 nights!!!! :rotfl: so.....thinking that would be a bit much, but still scared of the scene we experienced this past trip we think 9 nights might be perfect! We shall see.....:goodvibes

On top of that, we switched to AKL CL!!!!! :dance3:
This is one of those resorts that everyone really wants to stay at, but we just haven't because there are always more "appealing" options....but, adding a night at AKL still cut $700 off the cost from the Sugarloaf plans. Plus, well be able to do the sunrise safari, which my girls and DH will LOVE!

Given that the POLY is the only monorail resort that we absolutely WANT to stay at, and we can leave or take GF and CR, it seems like a good chance to knock AKL off the list!

It also didn't help that we have very good friends down there right now that are constantly texting me gorgeous photos from there....:p

Will it stick?? Stay tuned.....

But I really want an AKL ticker....:scratchin

WOO HOO AKL!! I can't wait for our stay there!!

Candace - I approve! :thumbsup2 Here's a pic of my kiddos enjoying one of the viewing areas at Jambo.

In 14 days, I will be sitting there. Can't wait!!

Wookie-Now we are all going to have to clean out our cars. :rotfl2:

I still have to do mine, but I have until Tuesday to get it done. Nothing like waiting until the last moment to get something done. Well, I was going to do it today, but my fil's mom and one of his sister's came over which meant that I couldn't clean the car out.

The 8 miles from AKL to MK is way better than the 1,355.49 miles that MK is from my house....I think we'll live. :rotfl:

It's all about perspective. ::yes::

I love your thinking. If it's eight miles from the AKL to the MK, then from our house to the MK it's 1,190 miles.

Well today didn't turn out to be as terrible as my mil and I had feared it was going to be, and that is thanks to my mil being sneaky. The fil's mom and sister's wanted to come over and talk to him about something serious with his mother's health and about his father's will. Well only one sister came and they left the will at home. Then they never talked about what they wanted to talk about. Probably part of the reason they didn't is that my mil had my DH put in a John Pinette DVD for them to watch. Then by the time it was over, since they came over so late, it was getting close to 9 PM. They left without talking to the fil about whatever this serious matter was. I'm pretty sure the mil did this because she knew that by the time it was done, it would be so late they would want to leave.

Tomorrow I start full time with my friend's in home day care. I have to call the boys schools tomorrow and see if I can pick up their schedules. Then the DSs just have to make it through 7 days of school and we are on our way to WDW!!

Hi ladies, just a quick reply before going to bed, we had the girls at The Big Ticket Family Channel concert tonight. It was fun, and so cute to see them screaming for "Austin" singing with his band. But Why oh Why do these nights always end badly? DD9 went to bed crying about her tummy. I always get worried about food poisoning when we are eating at these things.

Koh: So so sorry to hear about MIL, hugs for you and your whole family. What a shock for you all.

Dani and Iheart: Love the pictures, how adorable they all are. I like it when everybody is posting pics! Makes me feel closer to you all somehow.

Ginny: I saw you popping in on that outfit thread...man people are bonkers here on the Dis!!

Wookie: Your trip is so close, just survive work until then!:thumbsup2

Sheila: So sorry about your problems with DH, no advice for you (obviously...I cannot even get along with mine right now!) just hugs for you too!

Candace: AKL CL sounds great! And what a change for you all...it might be just the thing!:wizard:

Talk later all...off to check on DD9 one last time to make sure she isn't sick to her stomach.

I'm glad y'all had such a great night!! I hope DD9 feels better soon. Joey woke up through the night being sick and had to run to the bathroom several times today. Hopefully he is better since school starts on Tuesday and ain't no body got time for that (said in my best Sweet Brown impression). The DSs are already missing 6 days for WDW, let leaves them only 4 or 5 for sick days for the year.

Wookie: Your trip is so close, just survive work until then!:thumbsup2

Hopefully, work will make the time go by faster.

Morning All :)

Krystal, so sorry to hear about your DMIL....she's a fighter which will help her along the support she will have from you and DH. Praying for a miracle, they do happen every day

Sheila, sad to hear of Jay's friend  and What's up with Bob? He sounds like my late FIL...never wanted to take his meds or acknowledge his diabetes...geesh. Also Sheila, he might be a little scared as he has to deal with medical issues ...being educated is the best thing.....maybe the doc can get thru to him. Hang in there!

Dani, loving all your pix! :goodvibes I especially love wide awake Lily while Daniel looks like he's sleeping :goodvibes plus love Daniel's very proud expression in the arcade after he won! :thumbsup2

Iheart, love the pix of your crew in the rocking chairs...one of my favorite things to do in the morning while I waited for the girls to get ready.

Jen, hoping DH can see where he was wrong this weekend... it's always their fault right? :rotfl2::goodvibes and hoping that your DD will be feeling like herself again this AM.

MM, nice change to AKL, and adding a day! Ya know it's all about perspective... to me I don't see the resort as being too far away at all... to me it offers a peaceful get away from the hustle bustle of the parks.

Wookie, I love your clandestine meeting at Red Lobster!! :thumbsup2

Pas, we miss you here!! Yay for a night out! We all need that from time to time. And congrats on adding on another WL night! Hoping the new classes started smoothly.

Ginny, thanks for the compliment on Sam's pix! It's from MB picture day. She is really enjoying the camp experienced... looking forward to the season! And while at the YMCA I saw some coverage of the Little League play. :)

Miss, how is Miss M dealing with the start of school?? Has she made any new friends in her class?

Waving hello :wave2: to all I've missed!!

Trish, That's awesome! Congrats!! :cool1: We have eaten there twice and viewed wishes. :thumbsup2 So you have a ressie for November too? :yay:

:goodvibes

Yeah, the "out there" factor is the only "negative" as I see it, but DH and I were talking and came to the conclusion that we were just spoiled by WL and YC's location, but we have stayed at all of the values and CBR, and really AKL is not much further than POP and the distance was such a non-issue.

The 8 miles from AKL to MK is way better than the 1,355.49 miles that MK is from my house....I think we'll live. :rotfl:

Candace I have to say I had no idea MK was 8 miles away when I stayed there, but then too I rather enjoy the bus rides to the parks. I should say use to enjoy now that I need the ECV I hate having to load it onto the bus which for me now is another negative of staying AKL plus the fact that the bus picks up Kidani first except for the DTD bus which pics up Jambo first.

I do love Boma's and The Mara so I am a bit jealous of your change to AKL

Janet Hopefully he will keep the Appts this time, he has cancelled the Nuero 2x so far not to mention he had to pay a $50 cancel fee both times:mad:

Trish I had decided to make an ADR for CG then cancel if I changed my mind, well I overslept and the day and time I wanted was gone, just as well maybe next time since we are paying OOP this trip

I wanted it more for the Wishes viewing than the food after seeing the new menu, not much Bob would eat

Hello ladies! :grouphug:

Koh: Sending you positive thoughts. Wishing your MIL all the best.

Candace: :worship: I know it won't be the same resort next week but YAHOOOOOO! Other than the ride to MK, which really wasn't too bad, everything else was quite quick on the bus. It is an absolutely LOVELY place to stay -- and if it weren't for my love of the Epcot resorts, it'd be #1 on my list. :worship:

Janet: How'd the car washing go? Did they raise lots of moolah? (Her uniform is SUPER cool, I must say.) :goodvibes

Jeanette: Are you still in one piece, our scholarly leader?

Wookie: Can I start living vicariously through you now? All that pesky minivan cleaning done? ;)

I_Heart:  the kiddos pic! Wishing them a great school year.

Sheila: I'm so sorry about the news of Jason's friend. And the "S.o.B." (Adding the . in between in case DIS blocks it. :lmao: ) Men. He's going to be left on a railing somewhere in MK if he's not careful, right? :rolleyes1

Jen: How's DD's tum feeling this morning? Congratulations to all of them on the soccer accolades! :woohoo:

Dani: Those arcades are dangerous. (I remember spending all of my long-saved-up allowance at the beach -- just in the arcades. :faint: ) Infinity is SO FUN! You guys are going to really enjoy it. ::yes::

Trish: You inspired me. :thumbsup2 Just nabbed a reservation!

~~-------------------------~~

Thanks to all of you who asked about Miss M and how she's faring at school with her new class. The principal got back to me about the list of criteria on how they chose -- which I just wanted to know out of pure curiosity. Interesting stuff. Anywho, she's mentioned a couple of girls she chit-chats with in her class and she'd only went to school for two days last week (they do a shortened first week back.) Big sigh of relief. I'm glad she could overcome any of the reservations she was feeling about her class and go with the flow. Phew. Today I've been coerced into taking her and a friend from across the street down to the playground. It's supposed to be in the low 90's. I might roast. :faint:

Ginny! Ginny! I need our Resident Foodie's advice! :worship:  So, I was able to get a 9:10pm reservation at California Grill the night of our anniversary. Now I'm in a conundrum. I've got Bluezoo booked and CG -- need to cancel one. We've done Bluezoo before and we love it -- never have done CG. Thoughts? Perhaps I should keep both until I hear some reviews and see the new menu?

yeppers! Dh and I are going to do a retake of our anniversary trip from May:goodvibes

We had one night at CR then visited MIl/Fil and then one night at Poly before flight next morning. Next stop GF!

The monorail anniversary ride!:woohoo:

Miss Hope DD has a great year!

I would go with CG only because of Wishes of course if Bluezoo's menu is more appealing that could be the decideing factor.

We are trying Flying Fish this trip we have booked and cancelled it on both of our previous BWI stays so better we stick with FF instead of CG this trip.

Thanks, Sheila. :goodvibes Off to a decent start, got all my appendages crossed it continues for the rest of the school year. ::yes::

Look forward to your thoughts on FF; I always take a gander when we walk past and the menu is very intriguing. I've got the pros for Bluezoo as: close to our hotel, know we love the food/service/drinks vs. the pros for CG: some place new, chance to watch Wishes (maybe? Not sure if 9:10 is too late), we love seafood. Getting there won't be nearly as easy as a stroll from the BWI. :upsidedow Have they released a complete menu yet? The official Disney site still seems to have a borked link for the CG menu. :rotfl:

Congrats on getting a CG reservation.:cool1: It looks like they are going quickly today.
I think your idea to keep both in the meantime is a good one, that's what I would do. It's always helpful to keep an eye out for reviews to hear what recent diners have to say. It will be fun to hear about what folks think about the newly renovated CG. I'm sure there will be lots of reviews in the next couple of months. The great thing is, you have two fabulous choices!
Decisons...Decisions...If it's not the resort, it's the restaurant. That's the way it is with us RCers.

So glad you got your reservation! Your plans sound lovely! :goodvibes

:goodvibes Hi Everyone! wow, how a night changes things! My DS 21 (Josh) and his GF FINALLY made it home from Ontario on Saturday! 5 weeks away, and they where kind of stuck / locked in until the family decided to come home, so they where caught in the middle of the drama with no where to go! they finally got home, 2 weeks later than they thought, but they are happy to be back :)

Anyhow, we / the whole family (me, DH, Andrew and Josh and his GF) where just chatting and reminicing about family vacations, and it got to our Disney trip memories. Can you see where this might be leading??? :p now EVERYONE wants to do our Disney trip Together!!! neither of the boys girlfriends have been, and the boys want to come with their girlfriends and us....AND they all want to stay at AKL!!! (with CL if possible) but I don't know how I"ll manage that -- perhaps rent points for a 2BDRM villa??? club level. OR DH and I can have 2 of them in our room, and then get another room for Josh/and his gf. Andrew will hopefully be done his military Basic trg. by then and might have some leave -- he can help pay some of his portion (since this was supposed to be his grad trip! ) then my oldest son and his GF should have jobs, so they can start saving too -- I earmarked that they should save about $5,000 -- but it looks like they may need more! They all want to do 6 or 7 days at Disney 1 day at Discovery Cove again and 3 days at Universal. I will take care of the Universal room cost/ we'd do a deluxe room and hopefully everyone can fit together in there.
I think you can sleep 6 in a deluxe room

I'd really love to do a 2 BDRM suite at AKL -- but it's really pricey! so now I told everyone THANKS, you've screwed up my trip plans and I have to start trying to figure out a new plan since everyone wants to come!!! I don't know if we will be able to do it, but it would really be fun if we could! I'm going to try my best to make something work!!!

This Wednesday is DH's consult with the plastic surgeon to see how the summer physio/ and occupational therapy has done..... fingers and toes crossed for good news please!! 's to all!

Candace -- I didn't have time to go back and read everything from the weekend yet, but from the snippets i've caught, am I correct in assuming you've decided to take the AKL plunge??? :) :) I LOOOOOVEEEE it there!!!!! (and so does my whole family, as you can tell from my post above, LOL)

My DH even said he LOVES AKL's pool! He adores the secluded scenery surrounding the pool, and he loves to just float in their at night after a long day in the parks :) -- he adores the tranquility of it and said it's where he wants to stay again.....

So hopefully it's where we will be next too!

Marie

Decisons...Decisions...If it's not the resort, it's the restaurant. That's the way it is with us RCers.

Thank you, Ginny! :cheer2: Cheers for those links -- just followed him on Twitter. I hadn't seen the new pics or the revamped menu (only the few pictures of some of the new dishes they'll be offering). Gonna be a toughie.

Guess I'll need to sit down with the ol' hubbo and figure it out. We'll be going to MK the next morning for Miss M's first dining experience in the castle... so CG also has to contend with that. :scratchin

This Wednesday is DH's consult with the plastic surgeon to see how the summer physio/ and occupational therapy has done..... fingers and toes crossed for good news please!! 's to all!

Hoping for good news for you guys this Wednesday. :grouphug:

Marie
