Our little thread of BIG Resort Changes~2013 Spring RC installment

Sheila, I agree with you on the BWI deluxe room - it's one resort I've still wanted to try for forever!!! :) I can either deluxe room/ regular dine plan and club level like usual..... Or I can do DVC at Kudani in a 1 bdrm with deluxe dining. However having just gone through a 12 day trip (virtually!) with my cousin on the deluxe plan, I am leaning towards what I know and love -- club level and regular ddp at a deluxe (BWI).....
That deluxe ddp was alot of food, and I think we'd get more enjoyment out of club level, the lounge and the boardwalk view .

I do want to try some signature restaurants - but when I think of it, I'm ok with maybe one signature at yachtmans (ALWAYS wanted to try it!) -
On our arrival night and trying to work around the regular ddp as I usually do. There's alot of good 1 TS places I love/ or would like to try like Saana, BE Our Guest, Rose and Crown :) I am guessing I could make it work without upgrading to the deluxe DDP...
I hope I can get free dining again - I've always gotten that discount and love it!

The Deluxe really was a lot of food.

I would love to try the Yachtsman, but the DH refuses. He can't eat steak, thanks to his lapband, and non of the non-steak items appeal to him. We do have a steakhouse he likes to eat at here (it's called Salt Grass), but they have things that are non-steak that he loves to eat.

I'm a HUGE steak lover wookie! Although it might not agree with me as easily as I wish - I just can't give it up though even if it is hard for me to digest :p
Price of beef lately has me eating it much less right now!!!

Hello again RC friends! We had a great time with Deena last night. She met us here at the Poly and we had a snack in the lounge. Chef Eugene, who has become a great friend over the years, brought us 2 plates of ribs from the kitchen and they were DELISH! Lily covered herself in caramel dip and I had to give her a quick sink bath before we headed out to the Studios. The sky had some serious dark and ominous clouds overhead but the weather held out all night. We met up with her hubby at the park and they did ToT and RnR while I waited with the kids. Then we headed to TSMM, and TGMR so Lily and I could join them. After that Daniel wanted to do Star Tours so Lily and I walked a bit and met them in the dump shop. By then it was 10 and we headed out separate ways. It was great to finally meet her but I felt terrible because Daniels behavior has been absolutely atrocious this entire trip.

This morning we made it to our 7:15 Chef Mickeys ADR. Everyone was sleepy and grouchy so after breakfast we headed back to the room for a nap. We headed to the lounge for a snack before heading to MK after everyone woke up and we got POTC, Country Bears, and Peter Pan in all together. The boys did Splash while Lily and I watched the parade after lunch at Pecos, and on our way out of the park Lily asked to ride the carousel so I took her on it. It was SUPER hot today and terribly humid so when we got back we showered and headed to the pool. We were able to snag an 8:30 Kona ADR before we went to the pool so we did that for dinner. We were going to head to MK for EMH but as I walked out to the monorail I saw lightning and turned back around. We got ice cream from Capt. Cook's and then Daniel made yet another spectacle so I dragged everyone back to the room instead of going to the arcade like I had planned. Now everyone is sleeping and I have Daniel another shower, and I'm going to lay in bed and relax for a bit before dozing off. I canceled 1900 PF in the morning so we can sleep a bit later. We are undecided on wether or not to hit Typhoon Lagoon tomorrow or not. I'm hoping Daniel can hold himself together because I am really at my breaking point with him. It's so embarrassing and since he doesn't look disabled everyone states at us when he starts acting up. I'm so over it already.

I do to!! Especially when we go to Salt Grass and I get an iron skillet of their mushrooms on the side. It's total Heaven!!

I have the same problem with JM sometimes. Luckily, it doesn't happen as often as it did when he was younger. When it used to, and I caught people giving me that judging stare, I just look at them and say, "he has Autism and he would probably calm down quicker if ignorant people wouldn't stare at him", or you could just take the ignorant part out.

I swear last night I was so happy to be living in my in laws house. I didn't drink much as all yesterday. I had one bottle of water while we waited for the game to start, a 20 oz Sprite with my bacon wrapped hot dog, a 7-11 Slurpee on the way home, and part of a 20 oz Dr Pepper. Well the DH and I snuggled up in bed to watch a John Pinette DVD (comedian that does the Epcot Death March bit) and my right leg started cramping up bad. I mean my entire calf was a huge knot. No matter what the DH did, it didn't make the pain any better. Then the left leg started cramping up. Luckily for me, my mil has meds for that (with the pharmacy we have in this house, they have meds for any issue), and the cramps were gone in about 10 minutes. My mil thinks that I just sweated too much and didn't drink enough. I don't know what I would have done if we had been living some where else and that happened. The pain was so bad and there is no way I could have put weight down on them.

It really was. If I understood my sister right, he let's people at work use them all the time. She said that a lot of the time they go unused. My brother and I were both like, "well we'll take them". I'm hoping I can get both tickets sometime. My fil would love to go and the DH would as well. I'm just worried about the DH being comfortable in the seats.
I didn't even think of putting sunblock on. It was supposed to have rained, and it did. Before the game started (just before the cow milking, egg tossing contest it did rain pretty hard there for a few minutes. I guess the sun came out just enough to burn me. I didn't realize I was sunburned until my sister pointed it out.
I just didn't think the secret service men would have that it was as funny. They were unhappy enough when a player accidentally let his bat go flying into the crowd and landed several people down from us. That meant it had to have gone flying pretty close to the president's head.

oh and our trip countdown is in the double digits!! WOOOT WOOOT!!!:banana: We are 96 days from starting our drive to WDW and 98 days from checking into the AKL for the first time!!

wookie Double Digit Dance! :dance3:

Marie I love the DxDP but it is too much food. Never tried the reg DP as for how we eat Usually 2 TS a day it does not work so this trip we are doing OOP, putting the $ on GC. Thing is I added up what we might eat and the DP would be cheaper :confused3 Bob said so get the DP but I really do not want to listen to his mentality of his having to get an app and dessert then moan about eating too much later. He won't skip either since he feels he paid for it.

I want to stay the deluxe room at BWI but I can't bring myself to pay that much, the value of CL just is not there for only 2 of us.

Dani Early morning ADRs can be hard, I use to push everyone to get moving then paid for it with their grump azzes all day. I have to give you credit for taking the kids on your own. I could not deal with what you do.
CL sounds wonderful.

wookie I have the same issue but mine is caused because some of my meds depleat my potassium levels so I have to take a pill and/or eat a banana every day. I am almost sure getting dehydrated would effect your potassium levels as I make sure to drink lots of water now after I ended up in the hospital for dehydration in Dec of 2009.

fYI pinching your upper lip with thumb and forefinger will give relief from leg cramps

We are trying the ddp for the first time this year because we had a bb offer for free dining. I had upgraded that to the dxddp but decided to just stick with the free dining. One of the days we are using 2 ts credits to eat at Le Cellier for dinner.

Have a wonderful time!!! I'm counting down, 94 more days until we'll be at the Poly!

Hi everyone else! I hope everyone has a great week!!

Hello RCers,

Dani-Hope you have a nice Disney day today!:beach:

Marie
-I think you all would love a deluxe BWI room. They are spacious, very pretty. I think they are over 600 square feet, and you have a good sized balcony as well. It sounds like the regular DDL and CL would work well for your family. :goodvibes

Miss-Your (shhh…surprise) trip plans are fun to follow!::yes::

Kook-I think he will be furloughed 11 days. Could have been worse, of course. They may yet reduce the planned days. I have some little day trips planned for us when he's off. Might as well make the best of it. :)

Jenny-I will keep my fingers crossed for some nice discounts. Sounds like you’re working hard on planning, now Disney just needs to do it’s part. :thumbsup2

Sjs314-Thanks for your thoughts about our change, AKL should be a fun start to our trip. :goodvibes

Wookie and Marie-Count me in on enjoying a good steak. Yummy!:cool1:

Waving hi to Janet, GG, Koh, Melissa, Pas, and DznyCrzy, and friends I missed:wave:

We planned our Disney trip so long ago and booked POFQ on a suggestion from a co-worker.

To surprise my DH I changed to WL - he happened to look at the Disney Boards and while he loved the look of the WL - did not want to spend the $2K extra.

We looked at quite a few videos on All Ears and decided we liked POR better.

Then I read reviews saying that Coronado Springs had a more "adult" like feel and switched there.

Now to save money and because of the reviews have switched back to POFQ.

This will save us $900 since we switched from business class. We were going to rent a car because of the size of the resort and we don't think we will any more so that is another $400.

This will be our final change. Is this abnormal?

Not abnormal, just resort changing. We understand that here.
I think you've made a great choice with POFQ. It's small easy to get around, and very pretty!:cool1:
Another plus-delicious beignets and coffee. Yum!

Dani: Hang in there, momma. I'm with Sheila, I couldn't manage what you're doing. :worship: Just keep getting those coladas if you need to. :thumbsup2 How's the lobby smell by the way? Someone started a thread that they've changed it?!

Ginny: Little trips do sound nice. You're right... might as well take advantage of it. How's your weather -- as crazy as ours? :faint:

How's everyone this fine Monday? :grouphug:

I'm downing the Airborne like a crazy person. All this sick-kid stuff has me feeling all (to use the British term) bunged up. :crazy2: (She was up at 2:30 in the morning coughing. Poor thing. Of course, she's been naughty with her nebulizer treatments -- been like pulling teeth to get her to do them properly the past two days. :rolleyes2 ) I think I'm in need of some FL sunshine... :beach:

Been lurking as usual. Had an awesome time at the NKOTB concert (as usual). And....after 25+ years of waiting, I finally met Donnie Wahlberg!!! :faint:

Ah-MAZING!!!! Very funny and convoluted story goes with this, and let's just say...in my moment, I was not very smooth at all....but I got a nice hug and a little conversation...he also commented me on my upper assets...;)
It was quite a night!!!

In changing news...BFF and I added two days to our F&W trip. Now instead of 3 nights/4 days, we are 5 nights/6 days!!!:hyper:

That is flippin' hilarious. In lieu of a high-five smilie: :worship: You now need to make a new shirt which reads "Donnie Loves My ****" :lmao:

Which resort have you picked (at the moment) for F&W? It was CR-GW and that changed, right?

We are still only booked for the 3 nights at AoA...I haven't called to add on the extra days yet, but we did change our airfare...which was cheaper  (so now I have a credit for April!)

I have heard that the announcement regarding the military discount may come out this month, so I am waiting to see what that is, before making a "final" change/decision...:thumbsup2

Yes, I should totally make a shirt for the next concert next month!!! LOL. ::yes::
We had such a fun time, but I am still EXHAUSTED!!!!!

wookie Double Digit Dance! :dance3:

WOOT!! The next big thing will be online check in. My DH thinks I'm crazy, but there is just something about doing the online check in that makes the trip seem closer.

I have never heard that trick before. I'll have to remember it. Luckily, that was the first time I had a leg cramp that couldn't just be rubbed out.

I'm doing the same with DayQuil. Luckily the throat isn't hurting, but the sinus cavities feel like they're going to explode.

I'm glad y'all had a good time. I'm sure by now he's used to people being less than smooth when they meet him, so he probably didn't think a thing about it. Heck he was probably too focused on "the girls" to even notice it.

Love the shirt idea!!

Well I take my midterm tonight. We should have taken it last week (since it was week 4), but we didn't. We only had class one day last week, due to Memorial Day, and taking the midterm would have meant no lecture for the week. Anyway, hope y'all have a great night.

Hi Friends! Happy June!

I have been reading with no time to post!

Pas, Janet, Ginny - so sorry to hear the layoff and furlough news! Hang in there dear friends!

Miss E - when are you spilling the beans???? I am so tempted to just go out and get APs. Then figuring out where and when to use them :lmao:

MM - love the Donnie W story! I saw your questions about where to stay! The next two deluxes on my list are Poly and Contemporary. Not sure if that helps you at all but those are the two I am looking at. My kids are saying BC all the way! :beach: I want to try all of them before we repeat but we shall see. So far, AKL, BC and then BWI booked for October!

Dani - hope you are having a blast! How is the room refurb?

Dessert Party for August Dates Open, if anyone needs to book it!

I think that for April, I will be booking Poly CL!
I have to make that happen and if the military discount is renewed, that's what I am going to book, regardless of the construction. I know that Disney won't allow it to be to intrusive, and if they do, they will make it right.

Our backup if it looks like the construction will be too bad, will be GF Sugarloaf! :goodvibes

The kids don't know we will go in April. We have decided it will be a surprise...all part of our trying to get them to appreciate things more...them thinking they are not going next year is certainly working to our favor...:rolleyes1
