Before we started using the DP, we would budget for food. I would look at menus and get an average for how much we would spend each meal. Now that we have used the DP, the DH says he will never go to WDW without getting at least the regular DP. He would just rather have the food paid for before we go, than take a chance on us spending it before we leave.
So much this! DH is a DP pessimist but even he admits the freedom of not paying on vacation is liberating and very little effort is required to break even with OOP.
My ILs found DP let them escape more -- less logistics about how much this meal cost or deciding if they should eat cheap because last meal was pricey. We also managed to come away ahead on
DDP last time (about $40 each for a total of $300 savings)... and our extra snack credits made for great souvenirs - more savings!!! FD next trip made everyone's day (some were trying to budget and planning on making sandwiches in the room so they could enjoy nicer dinners) but they are all stoked to get DP this time.
I really wish coasters didn't make me as sick as they do. I really do love riding them....until the point it makes me sick.
I am definitely not the thrill junkie I was 15 years ago! I can only do one or two rides and then I need a break. DH and I rode a couple of the big ones back to back and I was done for the day!!!
Are they having F! any other night of your trip? The only reason I ask, is if they aren't, it could make that night busier. Then having the special seating would be a good thing. Plus, like you said, you can just grab a snack for lunch. Are you on the DP or did you pay OOP for the package (I can't remember). If you're on the DP, doesn't it just cost 1 TS credit, which wouldn't be any more credits than the meal itself.
They just added some late shows to other nights our week so I am debating heading to HS to catch the late show one night. If we free MM F! we can grab DP and come out ahead! Right now, though, the extra sit-down isn't worth OOP with DP... hmmmmmmm
Personally, I would keep the September one, so you can decide if you like it for your December trip.
That makes total sense!!! Mahalo!
CM is our family favorite. This last trip was the only trip we haven't eaten at CM's, just because we couldn't make it work.
Good to hear!!!
I am thinking it would work well for Christmas brunch.... just have to see what the group thinks.
Trip news...
6 days until our trip begins!!
9 days until we spend the day at DCA!!
10 just.....just 10 little days, until I can finally walk where Walt did at DL!! I seriously cry every time I think about it. Now if whatever junk has me running a low grade fever, waves of feeling like I'm going to throw up, and sore throat will kindly go away in the next 5 days, it will be even better.
So sorry about MIL but isn't that just like husbands! *shakes head*
SOOOO excited for your trip! I hope you love World of Color as much as we did!
Changes booked and linked to
MDE! FP+ done and maybe just a couple tweaks to ADRs (and FP+).
So I could have gotten the dining plan with my room reservation at WL through Disney, but it was going to be $800 more than what I paid through Orbitz. Sorry, but we're definitely not eating $800 worth of food in that amount of time, especially since we'll be CL! I feel bad for booking through Orbitz instead of my TA for it, but I did at least keep the CSR package with him and I had referred another family to him, so he'll have that (they're going to WL in August).
Funny story I thought...I mentioned that I had gotten FP+ for the mine train and Anna and Elsa then. My TA was quite impressed since he had gotten FP+ for the mine train for his client but couldn't get A and E. Hehehe.
Anyway, have a great day ladies!!
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
Great FP+!!!!! AWesome! And you got Illuninations on the 4th! AH-mazing!
dimnigal1, Love that your DD takes on the rollercoasters!!

Thought about you this weekend as Sam
finally got the nerve to try the rollercoasters at Dorney Park... probably 'cause she was there with friends.. when she sent me a text that she went on Steel Force and was in the FRONT it shocked me!! This the child that up to last year only did family coasters! My baby is no longer a baby (and that's good).
Totally DH's doing. DD has been very tall for her age and we went to DL right after she turned 3 and hit 40". We knew she liked the freefall at Santa Cruz BW but DH was positive she'd love ToT (momma not so sure). She cried in the queue line because of the theming and three CMs asked if she was okay and kept remeasuring her, trying to give her an out. DH knew if we could get her past the scary parts she'd love the ride and sure enough, she bounced off when it was done and said "we have GOT to do that again!" We also took her on Space that trip and she loved it... only to find out when we went to WDW the next spring the height requirements were different and she couldn't ride! She was so mad!!! She told the CM "You and California need to figure out how tall safety is!" *shakes head*
Glad your DD is starting to find the adrenaline bug!!!
Tough to say... although it is nice to have that priority seating, especially in hot weather. It seems you have a good set up with early breakfast / early dinner. Remember by the time you are seated and get your food it will be closer to 4:45pm.
True... hadn't thought of that
Thinking we'll keep it unless they open up a late show. Part of my hesitation is I don't think LO will make it through F! so I plan on leaving early with her anyway... just seems sort of a 'waste' to do the meal and not benefit. We shall see how schedules progress!
We done CM and PF (both breakfast & dinner)...enjoyed them all. We really love CM, and the fun interaction with the characters. Its just so happy and fun. PF was great too with those wicked stepsisters. What do you think the kids will like best? Will Cape May be convenient for when you would be going?
I think the little ones would enjoy Mickey more than 'off' characters and we already promised DD6 we'd try to do Akerhaus for her princess fix. We're thinking Cape May for Christmas dinner (long story but half group wants traditional holiday meal, other half want choice!) but I wouldn't mind the breakfast there.....hmmmmmm
Happy hump day!
I haven't done too much Disney planning as of late. Just trying to get things nailed down (MDE, etc) for now. We can't reserve FP's until July 10th, so we're just waiting. 117 days to go!
DD's first birthday is a week from today

sad1: ) and I've been in crazy planning mode for her day. Many family members will be flying in a week from today and we'll have a mega memorial day weekend including two celebrations. It should be fun! I've got two big Costco shopping trips to do between now and then. Should be fun though! It also makes time fly which is helpful.
Hope everyone is doing well midweek! Almost Friday!
I just realized we're going almost the same time! When you said July 10, I was like "wait, we're around that time, too!" YAY for Sept trippers!
Memorial Day should be fun but I know how hard it is to plan logistics for such a group! *HUGS* and hope it's a blast!
*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*
Not much to report here. Almost tried an WL/AKL split for Sept but don't want to mess with the phones. Found out a good friend here is going same week we are! (kids have two days off for country faire) and we'll be at
MNSSHP same night... fun!!!
ILs are driving my crazy with ADRs - all over the place and yet they want to try to do meals together. *shakes head* We shall see how it goes!
*HUGS* to everyone and Happy Hump Day!
