I don't know if you guys were following our story, but my fiance and I are getting married in 3 days. We wanted to get each other a puppy as a wedding present. We fell madly in love with a little guy and just had to have him. He is part Norwich Terrier, part Shih Tzu. We have been to visit him every day, and we were supposed to bring him home this week.

Yesterday I got a call from the lady and she said that he had his puppy shot, and had a bad reaction to it and passed away.
We are both just devastated. We know this little guy was one of a kind, we have never seen another dog that looked like him.
We have both cried most of the day yesterday and all night last night.

We are trying to get past this since we have a wedding in 3 days, but it is so hard. I can't believe how much we loved the little guy. We are going to wait until we get back from our honeymoon to try to figure out what to do, but we both know we will never find another Scruffy.

Here is his last picture that I took:

We are going to try to find out who the people in Oklahoma were that they got him from. (he came a long way to Seattle) and see if they possibly have any puppies left, even though no one can replace him. We just know that he was supposed to be ours.

I'm so sorry!! I feel terrible for you guys.

Oh Lisa, that's terrible. I am so sorry. Our first Bichon (who died two years ago) was our wedding present to each other (in 1990).

Keep up your search for another "furkid" and best of luck to you.

I am sorry for your loss. Your story is so sad. You and your DF are probably very stressed and emotional before the wedding which exacerbates your feelings about losing your puppy. Have a wonderful wedding and I sure hope you can find another pet. The picture is adorable.

I'm so sorry for your loss. :( He's such a cutie! I hope the breeder has a relative of his for you.

So sorry to hear your sad news.... and so close to your big day!! I'll say a prayer for your heart to heal...............P

So sorry to hear that about little Scruffy. :( Know he will be at the bridge some day, tail wagging, with so many other little fur family. I do wish you guys the best on Saturday, chin up, with a  for you both.......

Just this side of heaven is a place
called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet
goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and
play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those
who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember
them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss
someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and
looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you
cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses
rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once
more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never
absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Oh, I'm so sorry...:(

My thoughts and prayers are with you both.....:grouphug:

That rainbow bridge stuff makes me bawl like a baby every time.

I'm so sorry to hear that this happened, but sadly, not too surprised. We treat our dogs holistically and no longer vaccinate them...the research I did into this was enough to frighten me away from vaccines forever.

I swear -- I'm not trying to add to your misery, but are you sure that's what really happened and that there wasn't a higher offer received? The only reason I ask is because I've never heard of a puppy dying from being vaccinated. Sorry...I'm probably just being way too suspicious. Regardless, there are lots of cute puppies out there (to me, they're all cute!). You need to get through your wedding, honeymoon, etc. and then go shopping for just the right companion. I'm sure he/she is out there just waiting for a new home. GOOD LUCK!!!

I remember you posting the picture before. I'm so sorry, I can't imagine how hard that must be on you, especially right before your wedding. I hope you're able to find another puppy that will make you just as happy.

Calypso's suggestion crossed my mind but dogs can die from vaccinations, just as people can. Scruffy may have had something else wrong with him that made him susceptible to dying from the vaccine and you may have had more heartache down the road once you brought him into your home and lost him.

Whatever the reason, I am very sorry for your sadness and I hope you find a dog someday that you can love as much as Scruffy. You sound like you will make wonderful puppy parents one day.

calypso, you are not alone, that is the first thing that came to my mind also. Maybe we're both too cynical, I don't know. Hope we're both wrong. To the OP, I am so sorry for your loss. Scruffy's picture is absolutely adorable. Best wishes for a wonderful wedding day, a fun and fabulous honeymoon, and a long, happy, healthy life together.

So sorry to hear this sad news. :( Scruffy sure was adorable! The right fur-baby will be there when you're ready.
