We arrived back yesterday morning and the washing has begun!!
Our little adventure was WONDERFUL and I will hopefully sit down and relive it all through my trip report, however I wanted to do a mini report as its fresh in the old mind and will be delighted to answer any questions.
Me (Prue, juststill30something)
DH (John, 46 puts up with me)
DD (12, knows what she wants!)
Am a nervous flyer and we flew Virgin, steerage (LHR-Miami) they were excellent. All your advice was heeded and I was fine.
Miami Airport - arriving here was like a third world country airport, extraordinary place, more in trippie about this!!
Car hire with Alamo through Holiday Autos. It cost us £299 for 12 days, medium car with FULL insurance, DH likes to be maxed out, they didnt and couldnt offer any further insurance. I cannot recommend HA more. Excellent.
Disney - We stayed at POR, I asked and got exactly what we wanted in Magnolia Terrace. Loved it.
Hurricane Wilma - we slept in, watched telly, at 3pm all over, went to the Florida Mall with the rest of Orlando. A cold front came down and apparently that and the weather from Wilma created unheard of temperatures in Orlando. We had to go shopping for warmer clothes!!! It fell to 46/8 degrees on the Tues 25th in the evening.
We had to drive down from Orlando to Miami (stayed an extra night at Disney as Delray Beach had no electricity and so couldnt stay there!) on Friday, we noticed a lot of damage and queues at the pump. The airport was all okay, air con and the loo being most important!! Departures much better that arrivals but still huge room for improvement.
Now the most important parts, our highs and lows. I asked DH and DD to write down their five highs and lows, so this is their opinion and then I will write mine!!
DH Highs: Festival of the Lion King (AK), Philarmagic (MK), fireworks at MK, both Hallowishes and wishes, BOB at the river roost lounge, POR, and Soarin'.
DH Lows: Both Disney water parks due to the HUGE amount of people there, you couldn't move, Dinosaur (AK), Spectromagic (he felt too long and overhyped), IHOP (the worst place he thought we went to eat).
DD12 Highs: Tower of Terror (MGM), Splash Mountain (MK), BOB at the river roost lounge, POR, Fantastmic (MGM), Soarin'.
DD12 Lows:'Its Tough to be a Bug' (AK) hates insects!!, Dinosaur, we couldn't stay at Typhoon Lagoon as it was SO full, big low, 'Sounds Dangerous' starring Drew Carey' (MGM), when it got cold!
My highs: staying at POR, Soarin', eating and going around the World (Epcot),
The Florida Mall Shopping, AK safari ride, anything to do with fireworks!
My Lows:the same as both DH and DD except I loved 'Its tough to be a Bug'!
I probably should have put this in Trip Reports, I have gone on a bit!! Needless to say we had the BEST time and you have all been so helpful in making it such an amazing holiday.
Thanks, Prue
