I don't usually do a lot of posting, but we just returned from a fifteen day trip to the fort, and I thought there was some information that people might like to know about.

First, the clearing of all of the undergrowth at the fort-I asked why and was told that there was a "potato vine" that was overtaking all of the Disney vegetation. The cast member I spoke to even took the time to show me what the plant looked like, and once he showed me, I saw what he meant. This plant was starting to kill all of the plant life, and there are workers whose job it it to clear this vine out.

I also asked about the new premium sites. The same cast member told me that workers were getting the sites ready. About one-third of the fort will be premium sites once Disney is done. Each of these sites will include cable, water, electric, and sewer. He wasn't sure about internet.

Trail's End had a new lunch. For $12.99, there was a "lite lunch buffet." Salad, soups, pasta, sandwich fixings, chicken wings, cornbread, and a small dessert bar-ice cream, brownies, rice crispie treats. It was nice enough, but the $24.99 white meat, ten piece chicken bucket that feeds four is, in my opinion, still the best buy at the fort.

If anyone is interested-we drove from Pennsylvania to Raleigh and then to Florida. Back straight from Florida to Pennsylvania for a total of $956 in gas. Prices per gallon ranged from $3.67 to $4.29.

One thing I didn't realize-if you don't allow charging on your Disney card, you can't sign up for internet access. However, there was an unsecure site available at Pioneer Hall. I spoke to the man at the Disney vacation club booth, and he thought it might be from his equipment.

Anyone have any questions, I'll be happy to try to answer them.

Good info. Thanks!

I have gotten a modem without having charging added to my room keys. Had to use a Credit Card for deposit. Of course things may have changed since then.

Tony,

I didn't want a modem, just a wireless connection, so maybe there is a difference in policy with wireless vs modem.
