We stayed in Pigeon Forge the weekend of July 10-13. On the morning of the 12th we went out to the parking lot and our 2006 Jeep Rubicon was GONE. Called the police, made a report. He indicated that it was professionals who took it, and that we probably wouldnt see it again. He said "they are hitting Rubicons pretty heavy right now."
DH called the police department for an update a few days later and spoke to someone who told him ours was the only one stolen that weekend, but the weekend before there were 6!!! This person also told DH that the thieves are taking them and stripping them down and selling them for parts.
I hope our insurance covers what we owe on it. It will just kill me to make payments on something we don't even have anymore. I feel so violated and so mad! How can people be so evil and steal something that someone else has worked so hard to buy! I have never had anything stolen from us before.
And the thing was, this was DH's dream vehicle. He had wanted one of these since he was a teenager. He doesn't want to buy a used one, and really doesn't like the body style of the new ones. He is so bummed out.
Oh, and it was locked. But had the softop on it, so probably pretty easy to get into.
One thing, if we get another one, I want some kind of antitheft device on it. DH was thinking some kind of tracker hidden somewhere?
