Heya All,

Thank god i found this forum as it has provided so much advice and really made a difference that i hope you all might be able to help.

Firstly to introduce myself, Im Rich (28) engaged to Jen (22) living in East Yorkshire. Booked into DLP Seqouia Lodge on Thurs 16th till Mon 20th November 2006. (4 nights/5 day pass)

Well its been a frantic couple of weeks and i could really use you advice!

Only recently discovered that Jen is pregnant and we are both over the moon :cheer2: Chaotic planning has followed and the wedding has been arranged for Wednesday 15th November and were going to head down to London following the service to see Phantom of the Opera before boarding the Eurostar Thursday morning to DLP.

As you can imagine the budget is small due to such little preparation time. But ive managed to get Wedding venue, DLP, Phantom Tickets, Train tickets, and Eurostar tickets all booked. (All in a couple of weeks-no easy task).

Its been a Very difficult year for us both and i really want to make this holiday into a magical hunnymoon for Jen as she really deserves it!

Have you guys any suggestions bearing in mind Jen will be 17 wks pregnant? Were booked into a montana room at seqouia lodge, should i contact the hotel to request flowers, does the hotel provide any other "magical surprises" for hunnymooners? If so when would be best to contact them, now or a couple of weekis before?

as you can tell my brains fried from too much arranging and i would really appreciate you help!

Looking forward to hearing from you and thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

Rich

congratulations on your upcoming wedding and new arrival.

I think it is a lovely idea to arrange some flowers, I would definitely phone them up and mention that it is your honeymoon and ask if they can arrange some gifts in the room.

I don't think they are given the reservation details until a few days before your arrival however I would phone now to ask if something can be arranged and then you can confirm it with them nearer to the time.

Maybe you could have a meal at the Hotel New York or Disneyland Hotel at the fine dining restaurants.

Hello Rich - welcome to the DIS  and many congratulations

The Sequoia Lodge phone and fax numbers can be found in the Contact Details thread in the Useful Information sticky.

Have a look at the DLP foodguide to get an idea of where you might like to go for a romantic meal. The Blue Lagoon in Adventureland is very nice. :)

Congrats!

We honeymooned at the Sequoia Lodge in December 2003 and we had a standard room booked - we arrived to find out we'd been upgraded to the Bridal Suite so keep your fingers crossed!

Heya guys thanks for you advice (keep it coming lol)

Steve sent ya a pm hope ya dont mind

Rich

Another who thinks that Blue Lagoon would be a lovely romantic place for a meal.

Will have a think what it was like for DP when 17 weeks.

Hope you'll come back and tell us all about your trip :)

Read and replied :)

Agree with Becky about The Blue Lagoon - the absolute perfect restaurant for a special celebration meal - it's set to a Caribbean Beach theme and is very romantic as well as having an amazing menu, especially if you like seafood.

We bought a paving stone when we were there with our wedding date on it - I think they stopped doing that but I did hear they were going to start again, though I'm not sure when. If they were taking preorders that may be a nice idea.

Dont worry guys ill keep you regularily updated to progress lol.

Steve you will have to know where your paving stone is and we shall have a hunt for it and take you a pic lol.

Its been god nearly 8-10 years since i was at DLP. Cant wait to see the christmas disney!

I think the blue lagoon sounds like a great idea.

Im hoping to make it a real special time. We live in a small village and normally the local paper do a feature for couples getting married so might have to see what they can do.

I imagine the park has changed quite a bit. Shame Jen wont be able to go on some of the rides as she ill be 17 weeks pregnant by then.

Bless

As a newly married couple you will be in the perfect place to have the happiest time as husband and wife (and baby to be!). It's all the little things; cuddling up close as you watch the Christmas Parade, having your photo taken together with Mickey Mouse in Crimbo gear, buying Christmas hats with Goofy ears and just revelling in each other's company and enjoying the Christmas theming. You are going to have the best time and don't worry about the rides - the best ones are not the nasty, scary, fast rides anyway (not for this chicken anyway).

Hi Rich

When I booked our January trip direct, the CM I spoke to asked if we were celebrating anything special, so I am sure if you ring the hotel and tell them it's your honeymoon, they will arrange something :cloud9:
I think DLP is a lovely, magical and romantic place to spend a honeymoon.

Have you checked the DLP site, useful info link which advises which rides pregnant mums should avoid?

Lots of luck ,health and happiness to the three of you :grouphug:

What a lovely husband . :cloud9: If I wasn't already married I'd want to marry you myself.

Don't worry about the rides as Steve says all the best ones are okay for pregnant women. :goodvibes

There are lovely places to eat - Inventions , Auberge De Cendrillion are two I can personally recommend.

I would phone as I'm sure you will be able to prearrange a special gift for the room - They do Bride Minnie's and Groom Mickey's in the shops in the Village perhaps you could ask them to leave them on your bed for your arrival and you could pass them on the 'bump' as their first soft toys.

I'll keep my fingers crossed you get an upgrade. It sounds like you deserve it :thumbsup2

Can you get the Bride and Groom mouse ears in DLP - whenever I've seen people wearing them at WDW it almost guarantees special treatment (eg being the ones picked from the crowd to help in the shows etc)

You guys are absolutely amazing!

I have to say Steve, Jen has never been one for rides lol im the hardened rides addict. I have to say im looking forward to Space Mountain.

Ive done some research into the rides that will not be "bump accessable" and been through them with Jen. However if queues are short Jen has told me to go on while i leave her with the Euros (Not sure thats a good idea really lol).

I remember last time i visited DLP the new ride was star tours so it was quite a while back.

I think the bride and groom ears would be an amazing idea!! to add that special touch if they do them. I have heard the DLP dont allow brides and grooms to go in "wedding dress" but still hoping we might be able to get a professional photo in front of the castle.

Being a nurse im already preparing the cases, got the EHIC already and the travel insurance. Think its a wise idea to invest in some waterproofs and more comfy shoes for Jen.

Although shes just passing into her second trimester she still gets extremely tired so im trying to plan rests and shows to allow her a much earned rest!

Also all the wolly jumpers as i remember it being bitterly cold when i last went in September.

Sounds stupid but after such a tough year i dont know what im looking forward to most. The wedding, seeing Phantom or seeing jens face at Disney!

So many things- let the countdown begin!

Rich

In that case, pack the hats, scarves, gloves and thermals as well!!! :teeth:

Hey Rich,

A big word of advice - email Seqouia Lodge (typically I can't find the email address just now, but I will track it down and post it when I do) to explain that it's your honeymoon and that you would be grateful if they would consider a free upgrade to the honeymoon suite.

I know it sounds cheeky, but it worked for me last September, and it did make the occasion extra special - the room is massive with great views over Lake Disney and the park beyond. So long as it's not already booked out you should stand a good chance (given the season), and if you don't get it then you've lost nothing for asking.

Good luck,
Phil

PS I'm there with the family from Nov 14-17, staying at the Cheyenne this time. We may even "bump" (pardon the pun) into each other!

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding  and happy arrival :cloud9: and welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

I can't think of a better place to honeymoon than Disney pixiedust:

We were there last November and had a fantastic time with all the Xmassy goings-on. The snow over Main Street at certain times of the day was magical and really quite romantic.
It was pretty cold but we wore thermals and lots of layers so kept toasty warm! :sunny:
I would tell restaurant staff that you're on honeymoon, you never know what they might do for you! :cheer2: I'm sure that you'll have a fantastic time!

heya guys, thought it was time for an update.

Well just back for Jen's 15 week appointment and all goes well with bump.

Everything is booked for DLP for the 16-20 November 06 :cheer2:
Gonna take ya advice and email for an upgrade about a week before travel.

Maybe i can give you guys some advice.
If any of you need to get train tickets dont book return! ill tell you why. I was looking at booking the train from yorks to london and the return fair on national rail enquires was £144, singles were advertised at £19.99 however there were none available even a month before travel!

So i investigated the spercific GNER site and booked them there, for 2 tickets there and back cost £34.00 which is a hell of a saving! I also found the eurostar cheaper to book direct as well.

The Wedding is all sorted with our rush to the train now improved from 30 mins to an hour. Got the hats and gloves out! Just the long wait now 22 days to go.

Anyone else there at the same time that would like to meet up for a drink??

Ill keep you updated and hope to chat to you soon!
