Glen, the new hubby 29
Sunday, September 22nd
This was our last day in Florida. We had finished up all our PHP days and our last stop was SeaWorld. I could have skipped this as been to other Seaworlds and I'm not a big animal show fan. However have to please the hubby and he wanted to go so off we went! Thanks to Barry from the board who sent me a SW coupon. It ended up costing us about $80 for the 2 of us to go in. .
We ate breakfast in the food court at the ASMu. We figured we might as well as we hadn't done so yet and we were out of food supplies! We got there about 10:30
Glen had picked up a great souvenir from Florida - a wicked cold! Today he was kinda grumpy and not feeling at his best. We saw most of the shows and exhibits. We skipped the roller coaster as I can't take huge coasters. I wanted to do the water coaster but Glen didn't. We had already done so many in the last 2 weeks and with his cold he wasn't up to doing rides. My fav was the pet show and Shamu of course. We bought hot dogs for lunch. There was a really long wait for the simulator ride which was lame and not worth the wait.
It started pouring by 3:30. So we decided to head out. We stopped in at the Florida Mall where I bought a pair of shoes. Funny how most of the stores there were the same ones we have here in Canada. Didn't see much point in paying US $ for stuff.
Decided to use a coupon from the Entertainment Book for supper. COuldn't find much in the pouring rain so stopped at at IHOp. Only cost $11 with the coupon.
We headed back to the ASMu to pack up. We were ready by 8:30 so decided to head over to Downtown Disney for a movie. We saw My Big Fat Greek Wedding which was very appropriate for a honeymoon I thought! Also the star is from our home of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada,. After that we went back home.
Monday, September 23rd
We got up about 9 and split our last bagel in the hotel room. I was wanting to go for a last swim but decided not to when I woke up. We wondered around the hotel and took some final pictures instead. Glen went to the DS at Melody Hall to buy some stuff for his cold. We check out and headed to the airport. After dropping of our car we checked our luggage and headed to the airport food court to get some lunch. Our flight was taking off at 1:00.
We had a loooooong layover in Minneapolis (3hrs) where we had supper. We considered taking a taxi to the mall and decided we didn't have enought US currency to bother and didn't want to take out anymore.
We were still in shorts and I noticed that temperature was only 8 degrees back home! (I have no idea what that is in Farenhiet - I don't understand Farenheit!!)
We got home and after clearing customs were glad to see my sister and niece and nephew waiting for us. In the car was my little Bichon Frishe who was not excitied to see us but rather ticked that I had the nerve to leave him for 2 weeks! Wouldn't talk to me! After picking up my car at my sister's, handing out Disney colouring books to the kids and Jimmy Buffett maragrita mix to my sister and BIL we headed home.
My 4 year old nephew kept talking about the surprise waiting for us at home so I was a little worried about what I would find when we arrived.
There were balloons, banners and streamers all around our house when we got home! The kids had come over and decorated our house for us! It was really cute! My mother had left us some homemade bread and pies along with some other grocies so that our fridge wouldn't be empty!
So up to bed we go as I had to work the next morning at 8 and it was 10:30 alreadt - to find our bed had been shortsheeted and filled with confetti!
Our last thoughts on the trip - this was Glen's first Disney trip and my first one in 15 years. We wanted it to be magical and it was. The first weeks crowds were so low that we we walking on to the rides. Glen kept thanking me over and over for planning such a wonderful trip! From the first night sitting on the beach at the GF watching the ELectrical Water Pagent after dinner at 1900 Park Fare to the fireworks the last night it was a trip of a lifetime. ALl the little extras like the rehitchin ceremony at the Ice Cream Social and the upgrade to the King room made the trip extra special.
When we do go back (3 or 4 years) we hope to have kids with us so it will be a whole new experience.
Only only regret was Disney Quest (we didn't enjoy it enough to be worth the $$). I had planned on us spending more time at the bars but we were just so tired by the end of the day that the 2 evenings we did was enough.
I wished we could have afford to stay at a mod rather than the AS but for a 2 week trip it was not doable with all the wedding costs and the exchange rate.
Now I have to finish the scrapbook! I up to day two of the trip and have already completed 14 pages.........
