The plan was to leave for the park at 8:30am to be there when it opened at 9am. Yeah, right.
My mom, my two daughters and I arrived next door to group up with my cousins herd, two of which we havent even met yet. Theyre still in bed we were told when we got there. Being that this is the first day, we decide to wait for them. Finally at 9:30 the door opened and out they came. We were introduced and on our way to the park. But hold on the boy from CA needs cigarrettes from the store on the way and some coffee. Argh!!
I think we got to the park around 10:30am. We had no PS that day, so we were not on any official schedule. We arrived at the park and Pluto was out front with some other characters. Since this is the first time my mom has ever seen a character, we wanted to stop for a photo. Not much of a line, so we did. We were informed by the other group (who we had just waited an hour for at the house) that they didnt want to wait, they wanted to get on the Safari.
Whatever, I say. Go ahead and well catch up with you at the Safari. We took our time, stopping to see a few characters on the way and finally got to the Safari. They were out front waiting for us. Hee, hee!!
The Safari was great. Saw lots of animals and the driver was fun. The smokers stopped for a few puffs and the next stop was the Rapids (aka Raft) ride. Now my mom is not a big fan of rides, but I convinced her to go on this. Afterall, we had our ponchos and my daughters had their raincoats on. We walked onto the ride, start to go up the first hill and my daughter, Emily, starts screaming and crying that she doesnt want to go on. Uh, a little late now sweetie! I was perplexed as my daughters have never been afraid of any ride their entire lives. We all feel bad for her (and my mom was getting nervous about her decision to go on this), but we get through it okay. You know how on this ride one person gets real wet and everyone else gets damp? Well, it was Emily of course. She was soaked.
Her raincoat only covered her up to her thighs. Off the ride and to the little booth across the way for some sweatpants because she was so upset. The other gang stopped to have a smoke (basically this happens after every ride, in case youre wondering). Finally got her changed and calmed her down. Nice, Im thinking to myself. Shes not going to want to go on anything else this trip now.
Fast forward to the Dinosaur ride. Now, she has been on this before, too. We get there and she gets in line with everyone else (except my Mom who decides to wait with the stroller). I remind her that this is a scary ride and its dark and the dinosaurs jump out at you. I want to go, mommy, she says. OK. She is fine, but my 12 year old cousin Heather is not. She comes off the ride crying and shaking. I dont like dark scary rides, she says. Now, she was standing with me when I was reminding Emily about the ride and how scary it is. Hello??? We then stop for another smoke.
After that we did ITTBAB (which Heather did not like because the bee sting hurt her back), and had turkey legs. Being such an avid reader of these boards I couldnt wait to finally try one. Ham. Thats all Ill say. That thing tasted like ham. Not turkey. I think I took 3 bites. Did not like it at all.
FOTLK was amazing, my mom still says this was one of her favorites the entire trip. After FOTLK, we saw some characters; Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Donald were all there with little or no lines. The other group decided that they had had enough for the day (this was decided while they were smoking of course). Im not leaving, I say with determination. I want to see the parade. Well, my cousin (46) didnt want to leave either. So, everyone else did and she stayed with us. Im not paying all this money to sit at the house, she says. Good for her.
We saw the parade and it was great. After the parade the girls wanted to go back to Dinosaur. Rode it and on the way out of the park, we saw a sign to meet Pooh and Eeyore. The park closed at 5pm and it was about 4:45. It was not that busy at all. In fact, we were the only ones visiting them which was awesome. We had all the time we wanted and the girls love Eeyore. After taking some photos, the girls walked Eeyore back to the 100 Acre Woods (or so they thought) so he could rest. It was great!
Left the park and off to the house for dinner and bed. Tomorrow MGM!!!
