We got off of the Disney Wonder and got a car from Yourride to take us to WDW. We did not get a grocery stop for reasons I posted a week ago on the transportation board, but it really influenced our food costs.
Got to VWL and the room was not ready--but then it was (this was 9:20 in the morning). I had requested water or lake view, but we got the other side of the building at the end of the hall. I think the desk person was trying to be nice and give us a room, but I'd rather have waited for what I asked for. However, DH was at the desk with her.
We went off to MK about 1:30. Love that walk down Main Street. We went right to frontierland and got a FP for BTMRR, then waited for Splash Mt. (reasoning that at least the wait was in the shade and cool mountains). It was faster than posted, and it wasn't our FP time yet, so we got on the train and did a circle around as we had promised DD#2 we would. Then we rode BTMRR. Went walking through frontierland as the parade would come soon, but it looked a little thundery and we had seen the parade so we went into adventureland and did Pirates and the Tikki room. Aladdin was closed due to thunder. We walked around into liberty square and did Haunted Mansion, then it was time for our PS at Liberty Tree Tavern, which we had never done. Now we've done every character meal at MK. This was all right, the character interaction was great but the food and service was just OK.
Headed to Fantasyland. Much to my chagrin the line for Dumbo was silly so we never rode it, Peter Pan or Small World. We did do Winnie the Pooh and the carousel. The family did Mad Tea Cups (hurts my tummy)--15 min. wait, so I ran into tomorrowland and got DH and the kids FPs for Space Mt. and DS and I FPs for Buzz (he is still too short for Space MT.). After the tea cups we had time to ride Indy Cars for DS, then we did our Fastpasses. After DH and the girls rode he got me a baby swap since DS and I were done with Buzz. I rode in front for the first time. Then we went to see Carousel of Progress which I had never seen. This is a pretty cool thing! Can't understand why they would want to get rid of it. We all did Buzz and then went to Main St. By this time it was spectromagic time and really, really crowded. We had someone take our picture by Walt's statue, which we always due, but they cut Walt's head off! We checked on our picture (no go--yuk) and I got an AP pin and then we went to the hotel and swam for an 1/2 hour.
Friday, July 4, I stressed to the family we had to go at open. This worked really well. I did not want to go to MK this day so we went to MGM. DH took the girls to RnR while I got FPs for ToT. A CM at RnR almost messed up our system--he would not give DH a baby swap pass. Luckily I saw this and went to the CM and asked if he gave him one--he said "no, we always give them to the person waiting". !!!! This is our 6th trip and they have always given DH the pass. Anyhow he gave me one and I rode it with the girls after DH got off--then we all did ToT. AFter that I headed to the hat to get the 4th of July pins and then we went back to Sunset Bl. We ended up using that method again and rode both one more time (the girls rode RnR tiwce more, once with DH and one with me) then finally left Sunset Bl. We were going to Millionaire and the girls and I turned around and DH and DS were gone! We spent 40 min. looking for them. Turns out they went ahead into Millionaire --when I had told the girls "I wouldn't go in without daddy, I'm sure he wouldn't go in without us". So we made him go in again with us--DD#1 and I were kicking butt. We were 1 and 2 at one point, then missed a question at 64,000 right when the girl did--DD#1 would have been in the hot seat! (let me say in all truth that she only scores that well because she watches my every move--she's only 11, how would she know an answer was 'Judgement at Nuremberg"?)
We wanted to do it again but DH didn't, so he took DS on the backlot tour. WE did AWFUL the second time--I was 4th once, but that was the best I did. We met DH at the playground and then we went around and they did Star Tours. After that we found an awesome parade spot. The girls did the Drew Carey sound show right across from our bench. After the parade (where the evil queen chastized the girls for lousy booing) we had our Prime Time PS. After that we got our picture and I staked out a fireworks spot--the benches were already gone at 7:20. I found a spot in front of the hat against a curb with no trees blocking and put out my ponchos to sit on. The family did the Great Movie Ride, then DH and DS went on ToT one more time. They barely made it back and I didn't know they were a few rows behind me. Sorcery in the Sky was awesome! We were prepared to walk to Epcot when DD#1 spotted a bus! We hopped on and went over. We were almost still in futureworld for our spot, but people were leaving at the end of Illuminations so we had a great view for the extra fireworks for the 4th. I got teary again because my BIL is in Iraq. We left on the bus and went back to VWL and swam until midnight.
Saturday we slept until almost 11! I got up at 6 and shut all the curtains. We all really needed it. After we ate we went to Epcot. We got a 5PM FP for Test Track at 1Pm, with a bonus FP for HISTA. First we did Ellen's energy adventure, which we had never done. It was cute. Then we went to the living seas. We then did HISTA and Figment. We went over to TT for our fastpass and Mission Space was not open. When we came out it was! DS is too short, so DH took the girls on while we waited 45 min. I got DS a hot dog and chips and ate most of the hot dog. They came out and DH said you can't really feel the spinning, so I took DD#2 and went on as a baby swap.
Mistake! I don't do well on Body Wars or Star Tours--yes they are cool, but my stomach gets upset. Same here. The themeing is awesome and I love Gary Sinise, but from the time they put you on your back to launch you up my stomach was complaining. I couldn't believe how long it took to land on Mars!!! I tried to sit down when we got off but the CM wouldn't let me--said I'd feel better if I kept moving (probably afraid I'd hurl right there). I didn't get sick, but it took me over an hour to get back to normal. We went to Le Cellier for our PS and I was underwhelmed. Then we walked over the the Boardwalk to check stuff out, look at our BWV home, then back to Epcot and get the bus back to VWL. Swam a little and then DH packed us up.
Sunday we packed and left at 10 to go to Epcot again because I hadn't gotten to do any world showcase. We did spaceship earth and then went to WS at open. I had a margarita immediately but couldn't get a beavertail because that stand opens at 3. We walked all the way around. It was practically empty and a lot of fun to see things. We shopped a while at Mouse Gears (this is one of the best shops in all of WDW, outside of DD) and then went back to VWL--took the monorail for fun and then switched to the MK monorail and then to the boat. We ate lunch at Whispering Canyon, then got our stuff and left at 4.
No WDW for us next year, since we will be doing the 7 day cruise with my parents and DH can't really take more than one week a summer--but we'll have a big trip in 2005!

Thanks for sharing ~ Wonderful reviews!!!!

You call that long? ;) I love reading long reports. So thanks for writing one!

We did mission space right before we had to leave for the airport. I did fine but my wife was hurtin for certain. Despite her motion sickness we had to take the monorail back to MK, the tram to our car, our car to the airport, the airport monorail to the terminal, the plane to Indianapolis, the bus to the parking lot, climaxing with a 3 hour drive North to my parents cottage to reunite with our girls. From now on she will be content to see Mars in the evening sky.

Thanks for the great report, Robin. Quite a land/sea vacation.
