Our happy place & Dream Bday trip 3/29-4/9/11 UPDATE PG 44 - Final Day !!

Aw, hate to read that Megan isn't feeling well. I'm hoping she is doing much better tonight.

I loved your Birthday Greetings from around the World idea. I came home that night and was telling my fiancee how cool of an idea it was. I told him whenever we end up getting married that I would like to do the same thing with 'Congrats'. So I hope you don't mind me borrowing that idea some time down the road.

How cool!!!!!!! What a GREAT idea!!!!!:thumbsup2

That is the coolest idea ever :thumbsup2

What a cool and unique idea! :thumbsup2

Just got caught up on your updates.:goodvibes Too bad about the rain.

I never noticed that hidden Mickey on TT and now I have seen it in two TRs:lmao:

And I have to say what a cool idea with the birthday cards:thumbsup2

thanks...it was a fun way to celebrate a little bit more...the CM's loved it too....some of them didn't want to write on the front of them, they were afraid they'd ruin them...um, no that's why I made them!

Hi Lisa, from another Liesa (that little e in there will help keep us straight)!

When I saw that you were from the PNW, and since we introduced each other on Tim's (?) Glenn's (?) thread, I thought I'd mosey over and join in. To be honest I"m WAY over extended on threads, so I"ll try really hard to keep caught up, and if it's ok, I"ll just jump in here. I did read your intro again though, and I must say, your daughter is simply sweet! I loved your ideas for your t-shirts and most recently the cards from the EPCOT countries. Fun stuff!!

Hope we can meet someday, meantime, we can get to know each other more here. (I have a TR thread going too, if you want to join us.)

wow, I don't know any of them....we obviously don't "travel" on the same threads!! we definately need to plan a DISmeet!

I wanted to do something different to celebrate Megan's birthday...so I created a 6 x 6 flag for each country....we then asked a KidCot CM to write in their language "Happy Birthday"

she had a lot of fun getting the messages...the US and UK were a bit anticlimatic though...since they were in english :lmao:

Such an awesome idea!

Luv the flags idea. Such a cool idea. Might steal the idea and get them to write Happy Christmas on mine :)

Lisa,

Those Country cards was an awesome idea. Man.. I wish I can think cleaver things like that.

I love the flags - what a cool idea!! :cool1:

However, I would also be a bit bummed about the flags that have Happy Birthday written in English - I could do that myself! :rotfl:

Great idea on the country flags! :thumbsup2

thanks all! they were pretty easy to put together since I have my cricut...just looked them all up in a flag book, the only one that wasn't "correct" with Mexico since I couldn't recreate the emblem on it...I didn't even think about the UK and USA flags at the time....but its still a fun thing to add to the scrapbook for each country!

I did something very similar for my last Disney scrapbook. I had CMs from each country sign index cards with a message to DS and then I added them to the country pages. They were such a unique and interesting twist for the book. It was a little hard to scrap a couple of the countries though...tough to find embellies for Morocco and Norway.

I am loving reading the report, it looks like a WONDERFUL vacation! :goodvibes

thanks, it's always fun to make up something different for each trip!
I know its hard to find things for embellishments for some of the countries, have you looks at scrapyourtrip.com? I should be pretty good on WS stuff with the different swaps I've joined.

wow you're only 5 days away! have a wonderful and magical trip!

Day 4 - its AK Day!! we were up early today, determined to make rope drop!

and Surprise #2 - Wild Africa Trek!!!

Up and out by 8am! pulled into park at 825! We made it! by 910 we made it over to Expedition Everest, grabbed a FP and got in stand-by ...5 minutes!!!

:woohoo:

we love this ride....got off and right back in stand-by....still 5 minute wait!
when we got off it was 925! not a bad start to the day!

Our tour time started at 10, so we had to get over to the Dawa Bar for check in! upon arriving, gave the CM my name....he looked :confused3 our name was not on the list:scared1: gave him my ADR#, still nothing :scared1::scared1:, so he looked further....when I booked the tour they had put it down for MARCH 1st not APRIL 1st :scared1::scared1::scared1: I was not happy...so he called a manager over and lucky for us, there had been a cancellation so there was room for us!! :woohoo:

filled out our waivers and headed back to get geared up!

P1050871.jpg

we then got to enjoy some yummy "jungle juice" orange, papaya and mango! so good!

as we walked through Pangani Forest, seeing the birds and hippo area...our guide said we could not go into the gorilla area, due to them male gorilla had been getting over excited with the extra tours and they were trying to keep him from getting agressive...so we missed seeing them!

our adventure begins in the jungles of Africa!

we came up to the hippo pool....there was a young male hanging out...

Photo0088FourBySix.jpg

after spending about 10 minutes learning about the hippos, we were off to concure our first bridge!

Photo0108FourBySix.jpg

Photo0111FourBySix.jpg

as you can see, we were hooked into a cable by our "monkey tails" attached to our vests, so we were very safe, but crossing the bridges did take some concentration due to missing boards!

we walked through the jungle again for a bit, until we had to cross another bridge over the crocodiles!!!

it was the same road that you take on the regular safari, but at some spots they were able to pull over so we could see the animals better...

our lunch break was in view...a beautiful boma sitting on the savannah

our yummy lunch of dried meats, fruit, pita breads, date bars, jungle juice salmon roll...the food was good, Megan preferred the salmon and I preferred the dried meats, so we shared!

we took a few more photos

It was a wonderful way to see AK, get up closer to some of the animals and learn more about how they take care of all the animals there in the park!
