And my husband was chatting with him for quite a bit...
He's a really nice guy.

Anyhow, he was saying that he noticed we have stayed a BWV a few times, and at BLT (our home resort) only once...DH was explaining to him that we love BWV, and also love BLT, but love BWVs more :rotfl2:

So, long story short, when we go back in october, (split stay between SSR & BWV, hoping waitlist comes through for BWV the whole time), we made plans to go and see him...

Do I smell add-on-itis coming on????

My question is : Can you still purchase BWV through disney?? I am so confused about all that. :hippie:

If Disney has points available at the older resorts, either through defaults or ROFR, they will sell them to you.

Yes, you can purchase points through Disney for any resort, you just may have to wait list the point/UY combo you're wanting if it isn't immediately available. If you are thinking of adding on and know your time frame, I would call and see if points are available, and if not wait list them.

Also, you may want to research and consider resale. You can get about 2/3 more points for the same price. The only difference is you won't be able to use those points for Adventure by Dis, Dis cruises, and Disney resorts that aren't DVC. To be perfectly honest, I have that option, but if I decided to take one of those vacations, I would rent my points and pay cash because by the time you pay the $95 fee Dis charges you to trade out and the exorbitant number of points they require, you're way ahead of the game if you rent. Just something else to consider as you research!

Best of luck! :goodvibes

I completely agree about checking out resale. Right now, BWV is $115 through Disney and contracts are going between $50 - $80 per point. Unless someone wants just a small amount of points and doesn't want to obligate themselves to the MF's associated with more points, resale can save you a nice chunk upfront.

You just won't be able to use those BWV resale points for anything but DVC and RCI (I think that is all). So if you don't mind that, you'd be better off buying a resale. Save a lot of money.

Your guide is merely a salesperson. Their goal is to make money off you.

Oh I know that ...I don't think he actually wants to be our friend :rotfl2:

Thank you for all of your replies...
One more question...We have a february use year currently...would we be wise to keep that?? I also get very confused with the use year situation, why it is so important, etc....

Yes, I would keep the same use year for add-ons unless you have a specific reason for wanting a different one. Any different use year would be a completely different membership number, with a different banking window, and you could not easily combine the points without transferring some from one membership to another.

While we were staying at BCV our guide left a voice mail just to point out some activities going on near BCV while we were there. None of them had anything to do with selling additional points. I thought that was really nice.

Ditto. We had two UYs (Aug and Dec). We sold the two Aug UY contracts and when I repurchased, I stuck with Dec. It's just easier to manage, and at the 7 month window, you can combine points any way you want to make a reservation. With a separate member ID, the rules are a little diferent and there are some limitations on transferring points in/out of UYs. Unless you have a compelling reason to have multiple UYs, I'd definitely stick with one.

I have most of my points in one UY and a smaller different UY contract for one of the same resorts. I use my once a year transfer to transfer out of the smaller one into the larger one. You can't combine points from two different contracts (which you would have with two different UYs) for a single night. You'd have to make some of the nights with one contract and other nights with the other contract and link them.

One UY is really much easier. You don't have to worry about different banking deadlines or use deadlines.

Sounds like sales 101 so watch out! :goodvibes

We usually unplug our DVC villa phone since DD likes to play with the phone...and we never bother checking the messages even if the light is flashing (everyone in the world we know would call our cells)...I always wondered who would be calling :rolleyes1

Our guide Kathy has contacted us a few times before our trip to see how our plans are going, she even tried to get us our one day we were missing at BWV for a wk, she ck for the opening so she could grab it, but it never came up. She calls once we check in just to say Hi, hope you have a great time and if you need anything just give me a call. Once we meet up with her to say Hi and she gave us a tour of the office and had some merchandise for us, and another time I called her for a book of points so we could book another vacation while we were there and she had a bag of merchandise waiting for us. She never once bugged us or asked us to add on more points. I really like our guide Kathy.:thumbsup2

You either have a lazy Guide or you don't fit the sales profile.

Could be. My wife and I are not the purchaser, we're "additional purchasers" as we had our names added to my parent's contracts for estate planning and then have done our add-ons with them to keep one member #.

Though, We've added on twice directly through Disney and once via resale. So, surprising we don't hear from him more given we've purchased.

Our first BLT add-on I called Disney to do and actually had to call twice before our guide got back to us.

He's our 2nd guide as the first my parents had at purchase retired some time ago. But, he's been our guide for many years and we've gone at least once a year for the last several years. We don't do much point borrowing so maybe he doesn't think it's worth his time to try.

I'm not overly upset by it, I've not met him and don't need to be sold to while on vacation.
