Our Grand Gathering Adventure:Surprising the Boys! 9/17 WE LEAVE TOMORROW!!!

Hi Heather!

I'm picking my way through this PTR... Sheesh, yours is almost as long as mine!! :rotfl:

Just wanted to let you know that I'm on board...

Have a great day/meeting...

Kathy

Thank you for that comment Heather. I have to do my good mornings as soon as I get to work. Then I actually work for a while. Not because I want to. I will miss chatting with you while you are gone too. You will have to get an Iphone or internet on your phone so you can keep up. I have an Itouch and it does wifi. You just have to find where it is free. Get packing

I haven't got to read your whole TR, but I just wanted to comment on your boys books. Great job! :thumbsup2 They are going to love them.:thumbsup2

Since I haven't read the whole thread, is it still a surprise?? How do you do it??!!

Happy packing and I look forward to seeing how your trip goes.

Hey Heather,

Thanks for thinking of my kids-that's very sweet of you...

I was thinking...I'd love to be able to do the Half Marathon in 2011-January right?

I wonder if I would be able to get in shape for it if I started training now...

(I am out of shape (weight) although I did start a little weight training in the summer-I've stopped over the past 3 weeks but I miss it and I need to start some excercise...what better inspiration...than running in Disney...

hmm I wonder if 15 months is enough time-it seems like with a little commitment and dedication it might just be possible...

I have to talk to someone more informed about these things but if I can manage to do it...I'd love to run it...I think it would be awesome...

hmmm....you've given me something to focus on that is exciting and self improving-I'm going to have to do some research...

Heather,

Your surprise plans sound a lot like the one that we did when we surprised Hunter. I made sure that he had all kinds of PSP games and the portable DVD player out the closer we got to Disney World. I really lucked out when he fell asleep for about 75 miles!

Go get your packing done while you have the chance. We'll be here when you have the time.

Lisa

It would be awesome if they fell asleep at about an hour out or so. Christian might actually do that. It would be close to the time he takes a nap at school (which I normally do NOT like-he'd stopped taking naps but they have "naptime" at school and he always falls asleep-which means he never wants to sleep at night :headache:). Will might just fall asleep too, which would be great. But if not, hopefully they will be so engrossed in technology they won't notice anything outside their windows. I know. Bad Mommy. But it's just this once, right? ;)

Your trip is close now! TAKE ME WITH YOU! :goodvibes

We'll miss you while you're gone. I've said it before, but I'm really looking forward to the TR that will follow! :woohoo:

You can come. But you have to bring Mitchell. He can play with Christian.

I hope my TR will live up to your expectations.

Kathy

:welcome: Kathy! It's so nice to have you here. :) Mine may be almost as long as yours...but you still have almost two months to go before your trip and I only have a couple of days! Yours will be legendary by the time your trip gets here. Thanks for coming over. :goodvibes

Have a great day!!!
fun packing hope you were able to get a great deal done today!:thumbsup2

Yeah, a great deal done. Not. I did get all of the kids' clothes pulled except their socks. Most of it is not actually in the suitcase, but it is in my room laying on top of the rest of our stuff. I ended up only having about half an hour to work on it. I've already told Will I won't be able to eat lunch with him tomorrow (I did today and I will on Thursday). As soon as I finish running I'll be back here working on actually getting stuff in suitcases. Mine will have to go last since I have to wear half of it the next couple of days. It will have to be washed Thursday. The kids have so many clothes they aren't even going to miss the shorts, pjs, and underwear I pulled. I only grabbed one or two shirts that aren't brand new Disney shirts. I think they have about 10 each, so we should be covered. You guys need to MAKE me pack tomorrow!

Thank you for that comment Heather. I have to do my good mornings as soon as I get to work. Then I actually work for a while. Not because I want to. Ginny, I got your wine today. Thank you! :goodvibes I can't wait to try it (or should I let it "age" more ;) ).

I doubt I'll be able to check in. I have a "web-enabled" phone, but we do NOT have a "web-enabled" plan, which means if I were to get online it would cost a LOT of $$$ and Matt and I are on my parents cell-phone plan (cheaper to do the "family" plan), so I'm not about to run up the bill. I don't have a laptop. My DSi can get on the internet, but only if I can find WiFi that is free. If I manage to find it, I'll check in for a minute, but I'm not counting on it. I really wish I did have something. I want to apply for the Mom's Panel and I'm afraid it will be full by the time I get back. I can't apply before we leave because right now I haven't been in the last 12 months, which is a requirement. So hopefully I can do it when I get home.

I haven't got to read your whole TR, but I just wanted to comment on your boys books. Great job! :thumbsup2 They are going to love them.:thumbsup2

:welcome: and :thanks: very much. I'm not sure if you got there, but I made a book for myself first (it doesn't have any Disney in it at all-yet-it's just "travel" themed), then decided it would be fun to make them for the boys. It took a long time, but I'm really happy with them.

Yes, it is definitely still a surprise (although I don't know if you saw where we aren't taking Will's friend anymore-so it's just my boys). I'm not really sure how I've kept it a secret this long. I'm just so excited to see their faces. It helps that they are totally clueless. The 4 year old hasn't gotten any hints Matt (DH) has dropped and the 7 year old is just totally CLUE LESS. I mean, if I saw all the stuff we have around the house and heard half the conversations he's heard, I'd be asking a lot of questions. And it's not that he's just keeping it to himself. He would be asking 100 questions if he had any clue at all. So I'm really excited to see what happens when we get there and they figure it out. Plus all the little surprises I have planned. It's going to be a lot of fun. :yay:

hmmm....you've given me something to focus on that is exciting and self improving-I'm going to have to do some research...

As far as I know the Marathon and Half Marathon has always been in January. I'm out of shape (the same as you) too and decided one day in June when I was a little worried about something that was nothing that I was going to do something at least. I got the bright idea to run the Donald while I was out running a couple weeks ago. I could never be ready by 2010 (and the Donald is closed anyway), but I think I can be ready by 2011. I've already told my family and I'm really excited about it. I have no idea what I'm doing as far as "training". I basically just run every day I can M-F. I'm going to try a 5K in October if I can find one around here. I'll probably try to get some more serious information after I get back, but I'm not planning to run to win, I just want to finish.

I'm doing it for exactly the same reason you said...to give me something to focus on that is exciting and self improving. Gives me something to look forward to every time I'm out there.

I've heard it's really fun. We get to run through the parks (the Donald is mostly MK and a little part of EPCOT. The whole Marathon goes through all four, but I'm not up to 26 miles in the near future).

It would be a lot of fun to work on it with somebody. :)

Hope the kids had a good day at school and you're having a good evening!

Oh, and Disney called me today to confirm that we need 5 rooms for our group and who was in the rooms. I told them that we wanted Alligator Bayou and she said she'd put it down but we probably wouldn't get it because we don't have any groups of 5 and they have to save those rooms for people who DO have groups of 5. Darn it! I told her she could just give US Alligator Bayou and put everyone else in the Mansions. She thought I was joking. UGGG. So they really ARE going to put all 5 rooms together. Is it awful that we were hoping they wouldn't? I can't decide who I want to be next to. My parents I guess. My nephew is teething (and apparently has a virus, though he should be over it by then) and we do not want to hear crying all night (we did our turn). Oh well. At least we'll be in Disney, right? :upsidedow

not awful, just honest :)

It is good to know though on a purely selfish level. If our group grows any larger then those rooms that sleep 5 are one of our back up plans. If it makes you feel any better we all hope our group stays at 9, which is a little crummy of us. But honest.

The books are adorable!

And thank you for sharing the belt loop frenzy. DS9 was was able to do several at camp last summer, (thankfully since we didn't make it this summer) but his pack only does one event at a time. The boys would love that! Great idea and I will pass it on.

Heather, Sorry for the hijack I'm about to do. I hope you don't mind, but we're all friends here right:goodvibes
15 months is definitely enough time if you're committed and accept you probably won't run the whole thing, but will have to do some sort of run/walk combo. I'd start out with the couch to 5K program (google it) and then after you've done a 5K look towards longer distances. Marathoning for Mortals is a great book with lots of great advice and running plans. Disney races are tons of fun! As you know I'm doing the half in 2010 and my plan is to do the full in 2011. It would be so much fun if both you and Heather decided to do it. We could do a DIS meet sometime that weekend:goodvibes Anyway, if you want any more info PM me and I'll give you my advice and experiences (but remember you usually get what you pay for);) Good luck!

Woohoo! I'm up to page 8! Although I'm having to skip a bunch of the chatter and that's a bummer 'cause that's usually where the good stuff is! But my new goal is to pace myself through the PTR and it should be enough to last me until you get back and start posting the TR. Sounds good, right?

Good morning Heather. Hope you have a great day. Get Packing. Glad your package arrived safely. It's good to drink at any time. I would say save it for a special occasion but if it isn't good then it might ruin the mood.

Give the boys a big hug and kiss for me

Ginny

It's a deal! :thumbsup2 Those two boys would be best friends within moments.

I have no doubts your TR will be nothing short of fabulous! 2 days. I can't believe your ticker says two days. :scared1:

Yeah, we really did want to stay on our own. We live with my parents, so I was hoping for a bit of a break. Doesn't look like it's going to turn out that way, but we'll manage. It is Disney after all!

Will's pack only pretty much does one thing at a time too. The frenzy gives them a chance to actually "get" something at the first Pack meeting and it gives the boys in the district a chance to get the BB and Archery belt loops which you can only get at certain things. The frenzy is a District-wide event (I think) so there are usually quite a few people there. It is fun for them. :)

Now you know that you are free to hijack at any time. :goodvibes This is actually some good info for me too. I'm going to have to check out that book. I haven't actually done any research at all. I've just kind of done like Forrest Gump and started running. :rotfl: I really need to start doing some research myself when I get back.

I never thought my PTR would get this long. The chatter does have a lot of good stuff, but you'll probably get the gist of it just reading the updates. I probably should have done some links at the beginning, but I don't have time now. ;) Thanks for reading though. I hope it's somewhat interesting! :thumbsup2

Ginny

Good evening Ginny. Obviously I haven't made it here all day. Thanks for my "good morning" though. ;) I will pass along your hug and kiss. Any excuse works for me. :thumbsup2

I am quite sure the wine will be excellent. I'm trying to decide what to save it for. Or if I want to just go ahead and open it. After we get back, of course. I don't want to risk bringing it.

I'm working on the packing. Gotta get it done tomorrow so we can load the car on Thursday. Can't BELIEVE it's almost Wednesday!

Hope you have a great day at work tomorrow!

It's a deal! :thumbsup2 Those two boys would be best friends within moments.

I have no doubts your TR will be nothing short of fabulous! 2 days. I can't believe your ticker says two days. :scared1:

I think they would be best friends too!

I can't believe my ticker says 2 days either. Even though it's really 3. Or 2.5. :rotfl: We are leaving awfully early on Friday. It's necessary to get through before the traffic starts though.

Wow. Two days.

Well, as Mel so kindly mentioned, we only have TWO DAYS left. Can't believe it. SO not ready. Well, kinda ready. I'm working on it.

Today my friend came over to "meet" Jordan and Bailey. Bailey fell in love with her and her older son in about a tenth of a second (Bailey loves everybody). Jordan growled but also allowed petting. She's such a booger head. Hopefully there won't be any problems, but I don't think there will be. Mel (my friend, who ironically has the same name as my DISfriend, though they are short for different things. This Mel is short for Melissa, while MICKEY4EVER! Mel is short for Melody-bet you all already knew that! :rotfl:) has a lot of experience working in vet offices, so hopefully she won't have any major problems. As long as Jordan EATS. She still isn't eating much and it's not unusual for her to go on a hunger strike when we go out of town. Hopefully that doesn't happen this time. She's still too skinny. :sad2:

I packed the boys' suitcases today. I decided to use a small suitcase for each of them so I don't have to figure out what belongs to who when we get there. I'd already pulled out their clothes, so it didn't take long. Matt already has his pulled, but not packed. I haven't even pulled mine because most of what I'm bringing (other than shirts) either needs to be washed, or will be worn in the next couple of days. I'm gonig to have to wash all my stuff (including my running stuff) on Thursday and then pack that afternoon. The other stuff is all together, but not packed. I'll do that tomorrow. I had to go to the post office today before I picked the boys up (and after Mel and Joey came over) so I didn't get as much done as I wanted to. I actually packed the boys' suitcases with them in the house (upstairs) just to get it done. I kept being afraid they'd walk in on me, but they didn't.

The Cub Scouts are going hiking on Saturday and I was waiting for Will to ask if we were going, but he never did. I would have used his baseball game for an excuse but I didn't have to. Now I'm (secretly) hoping their games will get rained out so they can be there for the make-ups, but it's okay if they're not.

My dad said that Will asked him some question yesterday (or the day before) about where he was "going" but my dad managed to not really answer. Hopefully he's not getting suspicious. He hasn't said anything to me anyway. I'm so hoping we can keep them from figuring it out on Friday!

Just TWO more days!

I'm so glad tomorrow is Matt's last day of working days. I'm really tired of getting up and bringing him to work. I mean, I'm literally TIRED. Which means I should get to bed. I'll be back tomorrow with any updates (if there are any). Hope you all have a great night...

...TWO DAYS!!! :woohoo::yay::cool1::cheer2::banana::dancer:party::jumping1:

Oh, I almost forgot! I got an email from Universal tonight about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It's opening in SPRING 2010!!! I am STOKED! That means it will be open when we go in June. I can't even tell you in words how excited I am. Almost as excited as the fact that I'm going to Disney World in TWO DAYS! Almost.

Yeah, the kids are packed! I swear that's always a load off my mind when it's done.

2 days!!!! And it's still a surprise. I love that!!

You won't be in the same room as your folks though right, just the same building? I need my space and I don't live with them. When we were on a recent tournament trip my FIL and his wife ended up in building on the other side of the hotel from ours. It was a lovely thing. Close, but not TOOOO close. I can relate.

VERY exciting news about HP! I hope it's on time!

Good morning Heather. You are so close. Seems like it went really fast for me but of course I'm not the one going. Darn! I would be but I think you have enough people to contend with at this point.

If we don't get a chance to chat again. HAVE FUN! Don't worry about what you cannot change. Don't worry about the small stuff, it will take care of itself. Nothing but good wishes for you and your family.

Ginny

TWO DAYS! At this point you might find me vibrating with the excitement!

Twooooooooo days! At least you got the boys stuffed packed. That's one thing, well, two things you can check off your list. I am pretty lucky in that I have to wear dress clothes during the day so I can pack up all my Disney clothes ahead of time because I don't wear them every day. But, I always seem to wait until the last day to pack mine and John's clothes.

Lacey used to play softball and her coaches didn't like it when she missed a game or two while we were in Disney. They just had to get over it. Maybe you'll have the rain-outs you are wishing for and the kids will still get to play in the make-up game(s).

Have fun today!

Hey Heather,

I haven't been on the boards all day-wow probably for even over 24 hours now....:lmao:
I hope I caught you before you left-your "ticker" says one day...so I just wanted to say:

That I hope you have an absolutely, perfectly magical trip
and that it is everything you want it to be
for yourself and your family...pixiedust:

Enjoy yourself and each moment...
and I can't wait to hear all about it
when you get back...
