Thank you all for the comforting words...the funeral is tomorrow AM.

DH is going with a group of guys from work....I think it's best that way.

Just the other day he was saying he hardly ever gets a chance to wear his suit.

Tomorrow he'll get that chance. :(

Oh gosh. So sorry.

When my brother died in a car accident, I really appreciated my neighbors dropping off food or cards. Just some Subway sandwiches were really helpful during that time as the family congregated at our home. Maybe you could do that. I appreciated just the cards and the way they silently came together to bring my trash out, bring the cans back in. Someone even knew the reception after the services would be at my house and they hosed off my driveway and helped out putting up shade tents in the back yard. Cleaned up the front and the back for me and even walked my dog. Someone brought the flower arrangements home before we left and I heard later that one of my neighbors set them up around the house and they arranged several food stations, coffee, etc. Then they were gone. Then they were back at night to fold up chairs and put things away and all I know, I was upstairs crying, my family was still here and our neighbors were like angels.

Any little jester is so thoughtful. That's another way to pay your respect.

FYI--this is a 12 year old thread that was bumped by what appears to be the little boy'snow grown sibling. The OP is no longer in need of any advice.

-hugs- I'm so sorry to hear of this. Too often children are taken from us. I also understand not feeling able emotionally and mentally to go to the funeral; is there some other way you can be there for your friends without being there?

I'm sorry about your brother. It's nice that your neighbors were so thoughtful.

I just had to chuckle a little at your post. I'm sure you meant gesture, not jester, but a jester may certainly lighten the mood in some cases. :jester:
