The plan for today was Animal Kingdom and dinner at Boma. We woke up late, needless to say, after our late night at MK. Once again we had coffee and breakfast bars in the room, got ready and headed out to the bus around 1:15. It took awhile for an animal kingdom bus to show up and when it finally did, it felt like forever before we arrived. It was our first slow travel day I guess.

It was around 2:30 when we got there and we had to eat lunch...we were hungry and we had an early dinner ps at Boma. So we walked through the beautiful surroundings, saw the amazing tree of life and stopped at Tusker House for a quick lunch. We really enjoyed the food here. The green beans were delicious. We shared a chicken plate and a veggie foccacia...both were good, but we liked the chicken best.

After lunch we wandered the Pangani Forest Trail. Wow. We thouroughly enjoyed this. We spent a long time in the aviary spotting birds. The naked mole rats were so ugly they were cute. We watched the gorillas lazing at the window for our enjoyment. When Dd was 2, we took a long vacation to New YOrk and visited the Bronx Zoo. The trails at AK reminded me of this, but even more lovely at AK.

Since we had such a late start, it was almost parade time and this was on my must see list so we found a nice spot in the shade and watched the fabulous parade. I loved the beautiful 'puppet' animals. The whole parade was so creative and artistic. All the character interaction was fun as well. I was wearing a Chip and Dale tank top and Chip came over and gave me a hug and a kiss. Dd enjoyed that.

After the parade it was time to head to AKL for our 5:30 PS for Boma. We caught the bus to the lodge and arrived with plenty of time to spare so we took the opportunity to explore. Saw lots of animals on the savannahs, perused the gift shop, enjoyed the lobby etc... It's a great resort. Got some really good pictures here.

We were very hot and it felt sooo good to sit and have a nice rest in Boma. Luckily, we all ate light at lunch and were hungry because there were so many things to try! Dh and I ordered an African beer and some water and started in on the buffet. Dd loves buffets because she can pick what she likes, not to mention have more than one kind of dessert. I think we tried a little of everything. It was all amazingly good! I think the soups were my favorite, but I really enjoyed everything. Dh loved it all. I got the cutest picture of Dd with her plate of desserts before she dug in with the most devilish, totally happy smile that seemed to say, 'look what I get to do!' That's what vacations are all about!

After that delicious indulgence, we caught the bus back to AK, which, again seemed to take forever....didn't fit on the first bus that came so we waited 20 minutes for the next one...told you it was a slow transportation day...

Back to Animal Kingdom and we just missed the Lion King show. It was extra magic hours and they only do one extra showing, so we went to Tarzan Rocks instead. I thought Dd would like it because she is big on rollerblading and I knew there were stunt skaters....Well, I was right. She really enjoyed this. Dh and I, on the other hand, were suffering in the sweltering heat watching this cheesy 'rock' performance. I have to say that this is my least favorite Disney show ever. But Dd had fun and thankfully it wasn't too long so it wasn't a total bust.

One good thing about missing the Lion King was that Minnie and Mickey were out with almost no one around them and we got the special pages in Dd's book signed and got a great picture with all of us that is one of my favorites of the trip. We also got to see Donald.

We headed over to Dinoland next and rode primevil whirl. That was fun. We were tired at this point and ready to head 'home' to our resort so we could do a little relaxing. The bus stop for Port Orleans was SUPER crowded as we walked up. We sighed at our bad luck with transportation as we stepped into the longest line in the world, but we were pleasantly surprised when 3 busses pulled up and everybody fit. The trip back was quicker than the morning with no Blizzard Beach stop and we were back before we knew it.

We stopped at the gift shop and picked up some postcards and adult beverages before heading to the room. Dd wrote some postcards then went swimming with Daddy, while I called my sister to chat a bit, then wrote in my journal, watched t.v. and just relaxed. Dd and Dh got back and we all went to sleep. We had to get up before the crack of noon tomorrow as Dd and I were going to the princess tea party at GF and Dh had the Segway tour.

After a day at a Disney park adult beverages are definitely necessary! :drinking1

Wow, I don't think I've ever had just a late start at WDW, but then again I'm a Disney morning person and would never stayed up past 2am. ;) Hope you got back to AK to see the Safari and Lion King show later in your trip.
