The day we were due to fly out - Feb 8th was the day most of us woke up to a nice blanket of snow. We had managed to book a Travelodge the day before but were still about 8 miles from Gatwick. We were up and ready to leave by about 7am but the exit from the Travelodge car park was on a hill and we got stuck - along with about 4 other cars. All the men got out and pushed each others cars out onto the road so it wasn't too bad.
We had booked with TravelCity Direct and, having seen differing stories about them and their reliability I was quite apprehensive about what sort of delay to expect, especially when I saw the amount of flights being cancelled or having major delays. I needn't have worried as we boarded on time and were delayed for just a short time while we waited for a de-icing machine.
The flight was fine - non eventful really. Food was nice - sausages/mash and peas with a chocolate and vanilla pudding and, later on a scone with jam and clotted cream. We arrived at Sanford on time, a lovely small airport and so it took no time at all to collect our bags and get through customs. We then got on a coach which took us to Pop Century.
Check-in at POP wasn't busy and we were seen straight away. A lovely CM gave the children a hat each and some badges and stickers. Our room was in the 80s building on the ground floor - just by Mr and Mrs Potato Head so that was our first photo of the holiday!
I decided it would be easier to unpack by myself and so the others went out for a look around. When they got back it must have been about 9pm Florida time - the children hadn't slept at all on the plane and Emily decided to have a major tantrum. Therefore it was time for a quick bath and bed for the girls. We followed closely behind - wanted to be up early for our first day at Magic Kingdom.
