Diary Wednesday 21st

We drove to the parking lot at the Ticket and Transportation Centre and then rode the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. As we were waiting in line for the monorail a family behind us asked a CM if they could ride up front, and the CM said of course, no one else as asked yet. So I jumped at that and asked if DH and I could ride in the front car on the next train - not a problem.

It was so cool - we went through the Comtempory Resort and saw everyone having breakfast with Mickey. The as we came out of the CR - there is was the Magic Kingdom - talk about a great view. And perfect timing - the monorail slowed down, almost to a stop and I took some excellent photos.

We took a moment to look at the Mickey statues - I love the Ellen Degeneres Finding Nemo one and DH, of course, liked the Home Depot Mickey.

Then it was into the park...this is what DH has been waiting for. He is used to Disneyland in California and found the rest of WDW overwhelming.

Our first stop was the Main Street Bakery for some breakfast, coffee and a cinnamon bun for DH and a hot chocolate and some French toast loaf for me. Oh it's so good, if only I could cook, I could make it again at home.

Then it was time to rent Pal Mickey. I had been talking about him all week, but we figured if we were only going to rent him for the day, then the best park to do it in would have to be the Magic Kingdom. The first one didn't work, so the CM had to get a second. I don't think she had done rented or sold many because it took her a long time to do the paperwork and set him up.

Now that we are all set off we head to Tomorrowland. There was barely anyone around. We walked on the Transit Authority and had a whole train to ourselves. Buzz Lightyear was right there and there was no line up so in we went. We both loved this ride, but we had no clue what we were doing. Despite, or maybe because of, that I scored 407,500 - Space Ace and trashed DH.

I had read on the disboards that the Carousel of Progress and The Timekeeper are not always open - and today they were, so we thought we'd see what they were all about. The rotating theatre at the COP broke down and we sat between the first two eras for about 10 minutes, but once it started up again it went smoothly. I thought it was very well done. I love the talking oven at the end. And that song was stuck in my head for the rest of the day, well until we rode It's a Small World anyway.

Space Mountain - now here's a ride we recognise from Disneyland. This is one of few the roller coasters I can get
DH on.

I thought the sign at the Indy Speedway said no bumping into the car infront of you. Apparently my DH and pal mickey can't read! But they only got me at the end, they couldn't catch me on the racetrack - I was too fast for them.

We tried to find PUSH the talking trash can but no luck, we did however find Buzz Lightyear and he signed a postcard to send to my girlfriend's son, and we both had our photo taken wth him, Buzz also got quite a kick out of Pal Mickey's corny jokes!

Did you know that DH and I are too big to fit in one spacecraft, he's 6'3" but I'm only 5'4'. But the CM was ready to start so there was no time for one us to run for another craft, so we were very cosy. DH had trouble standing up when the ride ended.

Timekeeper was just about to start - again perfect timing. We both loved this. It's a shame that it's not operating all the time.

We walked right into the Haunted Mansion. We never tire of the Mansion, and notice something different everytime.

Okay, okay okay - sometimes a hungry husband is worse than whining children. We will stop and get something to eat! Good thing Columbia Harbour House was right there. I had Chicken Strip, DH had a Tuna Sandwich, and we split a large coke. We sat upstairs at window seat overlooking Fantasyland. It was nice to sit and relax, we were the only people upstairs. We sat for quite some time!

Time to take on the Mountains - no wait for Splash Mountain. Oops I forgot, DH does't like roller coasters or getting wet - he's worse than Pal Mickey. But they both survived. Then it was on to Big Thunder Mountain. This was one of the few rides we did have to wait for, 15 minutes maybe. DH loves this ride - he says it's not a roller coaster!

When we came of BTTR the Share a Dream Come True Parade was just about to start so we grabbed an empty spot, a Tollhouse Choc Chip Icecream Sandwich and settled in. Are those glass bubbles airconditioned? I would hate to have to stand in there in the middle of summer.

We rode the Railroad to Toontown Fair, rode Goofy's Barnstormer. Neither of us had been on this before, and there was no lineup so we decided to give it ago. I love the theming and took alot of photos.

We bought a bunch of postcards and then joined the line up for the Hundred Acre Woods Characters. Eeyore, Pooh, Tigger and Piglet all signed the cards - which we then mailed off to friends (and strangers - we were playing fairy godmailer).

Then it was time to see if Mickey was in. First we stopped by to visit Minnie's house - and thanks to the DISboards we knew how to pop popcorn in the microwave, perk some coffee in the pot on the stove, and how to make the utensils above the stove dance. A brief stop in Mickey's workshop so DH could satisfy some of those withdrawal symptoms. Taking a man away from his workshop and tools for two weeks is apparently cruel and evil!

Mickey was quite taken with Pal Mickey and had to hug him, and listen to his jokes. He also insisted we take several photos of the 4 of us - Mickey, Pal Mickey, DH and I, until Mickey was happy with the result. Thank goodness for digital cameras. This took up quite some time, so you were the next family in line looking very grumpy and saying some not so complimentary comments about the time we took, we apologise now.

Time for Fantasyland - sometimes we find this land a bit hard to take but we survived and enjoyed it. We got in the standby line for the Many Adventures of Pooh but then it broke down. We waited 10 minutes and it still wasn't moving so we thought we would get a fast pass and come back later. But the fast pass machine ate my annual pass! Aggh and not a single CM around to help. I sent DH off to find someone while I stood guard over the machine. Again this caused me to become the object of many a person's wrath - why is she hogging that machine....okay go ahead use it, let it eat your pass as well! Finally DH and a CM came, and the CM got my annual pass and a fast pass for me. An apology would have been nice too, but I guess I was expecting too much. Oh well on with the day.

To fill in the time before our fast pass we went to see Mickey's PhilharMagic - loved it. This is It's tough to be a bug our our favourite 3D movies - we could see them again and again.

We rode Snow White's Scary Adventures, It's a small world and finally the Many Adventures of Pooh - I saw the picture in Owls house of toad handing over the land rights to Pooh. Peterpan had a standby line up was over 45 minutes so we got a fast pass and headed over to Adventureland. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin had a small line up and is similar to astro orbitor etc so passed on it, but we did ride Pirates of the Caribbean - seems shorter than at Disneyland, but we still enjoyed it. Next I made DH stop for a dolewhip. Again thanks to the DISboards. These boards are costing me a fortune in Calories.

We decided not to go back to Peter Pan as DH wanted to ride Buzz again. Still no line up so we rode 3 more times. DQ won all three - 22,800 Ranger 1st Class, 155500 Planetary Pilot and 135600 Planetary Pilot. But I still had the top score for the day.

We found a seat at the rosegarden for a great view of Wishes. Watched the light show on the castle for about 1/2 hour before the fireworks started. Tinkerbell flew right over us. I loved this show, DH might have enjoyed it more had he not been so exhausted. Note to self - DH cannot go full day in one park. Needs a break. Got some amazing photos of the castle and fireworks.

We headed bak to our resort and picked up dinner at Old Port Royale - not very exciting. I bought more postcards at the Calypso Trading Post and we headed off to bed.

Did the FP machine mess up your AP or just keep it instead of giving it back? I've not had that happen yet!
Sounds like you had a wonderful trip! Thanks for sharing.

:earsgirl:

It didnt give me a fast pass or my AP back - but luckily it didn't mangle my AP. Although the CM almost mangled it trying to get it out. It looks a little worse for wear now, but is still useable.

We loved him. Even my DH who thought he was a stupid idea. Infact DH wouldnt had him over.

We ummmed and aahhed over actually buying him, but couldn't justify it, so we just rented him. We didn't have him at MGM or AK but we did have him at Epcot and MK - MK was the best.

Buzz is my hubbies and my favorite thing to do over there......we ride and ride and ride.......and once my hubby.....he has no clue where...but he got the big total and maxed out......of course hearing him gloat the rest of the day was to funny........thanks so much......great report

Please can you tell me what is a dolewhip???
