Our first trip to DW in Dec., should I book now?

We are planning our first trip for the week before Christmas. I've done extensive (obsessive) reading on this site for the last couple of days and have it narrowed down to top two condos and top two suites hotels depending on which route we decide to go. So... if booking Cypress Pointe through Hotel Kingdom, would I get a better rate booking now or waiting for a couple of months? For making regular hotel reservations (Buena Vista Suites or Comfort Suites Maingate East), would I get a better deal booking now or waiting? I don't mind booking now if it will save money, I would just hate to book now and then see rates fall in 3 months. All you disney regulars, pass on the wisdom! Thanks

I really don't believe that you save money by booking early. I think the best deals are to be found about 3-4 months (at the earliest) ahead and no more. For instance codes, airlines, hotels etc. are not going to offer their specials too far ahead. I am going in August and am sure that their will be some airline summer sales and some good hotel deals too, but I will probably not be able to book until late May or June. It feels good to book early because you know your plans are secured, but I really dont think you will get any deals if you do. Good Luck

Thanks for your reply. I guess a specific question for people who have stayed at Cypress Pointe is that right now you can book a two bedroom for Dec. for $74 a night, can the price get better than that if I wait for a while?

The price for Cypress Point seems to be fairly constant. I personally would book now because the week you are going can be popular, so you may lose out. I think the Cypress pointe cancellation policy is pretty liberal, so if you see it for cheaper you can change. Also the other hotels (buena vista suites, etc.) have cancellation policies, so as long as you don't book a rate that is non-cancellable, if you find a cheaper rate you can cancel and rebook.

I've been reading the boards for awhile now, and the prices on the places you mentioned do not tend to get cheaper the closer to your time. athough, I would continue to monitor some of these places because there may be a special (like through mousesavers or DIS, etc).

I don't think you are going to get much better than that. That week is a busy for WDW.

I got Cypress Pointe Grand Villas for cheaper than that, but it was on Skyauction for Dec. 3rd. Late December is already gone on the Ready,Set,Go auctions. December 9, 10, 11 is available though. You could get it for $ 270 for the week, but only for the dates listed.

If you are stuck on that week and want a villa (kitchen, washer/dryer) instead of a hotel room, I would take the deal for CP.

Good luck deciding.

Book now you can always ask what the cancellation policy is. I would rather have a sure thing then wait and have nothing. If you have to go at that particular time book ahead and if something better comes along change your reservations.

Thanks for all your replies. I went ahead and booked through hotel kingdom for 8 nights starting Dec. 18! This is our first trip to Disney, in fact our first big (flying) trip as a family with our 3 and 5 year old. I emailed hotel kingdom before I booked and asked if I could canel and rebook if the rates came down and they emailed back that if the rates come down I should just call them with my reservation # and they'll give me the lower price. My next project is to figure out when I'll get the best airfares from Austin to Orlando. Any thoughts?

You are going in prime season. I really doubt you will get any discounts but you can always hope.
