Our First Trip to Disney!

Love that DD thought her poncho was a princess dress!

Great AK update but wow I got a bit emotional when reading about your experience at MK! :lovestruc

Love DDs Belle Dress and crown and what an amazing experience she had at CRT - that will definitely be a memory to treasure.

Well, being from our part of Texas we were not used to the humidity. I mean we have 105 degree temps but humidity isn't that high. So needless to say, I was drenched the first five minutes. Lily, however, INSISTED on keeping on her many layered tulle princess dress the entire day. Are you seeing the word INSISTED connected to my daughter's name a lot in this report. Being very transparent with you....Yes, she is strong-willed and head strong, which will come in handy as she gets older. However, as a toddler, it can become quite annoying at times. Nonetheless, I thought heck, It's Disney! Let her sweat! She was from then on crowned the Sweating Princess. No kidding, she was drenched......She even took her NAP at the resort in that dress.....We had to hide it the rest of the trip so she wouldn't wan to wear it EVERY day :)Sorry, I digress....back to the trip report! We decided to ride the carousel first. She was a little leery of it once it started moving, but after that she plopped right down on a horse and had herself a good ol' ride! The picture is not really good...we are in the back left.

Next, off to Dumbo. If you will notice, I am the one riding the rides with Lily. My poor hubby gets motion sick, so I was the chosen one. We only waited for Dumbo 10 minutes. She LOVED this ride.
100_5574.jpg
[/IMG]

After the ride, we met a few characters and didn't stand in line for very long. We met the wicked stepsister and step mother. Lily kept asking, why are they not smiling very much. They were really playing up their parts. Then we met the lovely Fairy Godmother!

While I was on Dumbo, someone gave my hubby three fastpasses for Peter Pan! So we headed straight there. I was a little nervous about this one for Lily because I knew it was in the dark, but she actually did pretty good. We then went on my favorite...It's a Small World.

[/IMG]

We decided at that time we would go back to resort for lunch and rest. We had bought some foods from Garden Grocer....so we ate in our room. Everyone took a much needed nap. We knew we were going to be up late that night for the Parade and Wishes Fireworks show......

We came back to MK around 4:00. Again, the buses were great. Here is a couple of shots of hubby and Lily. The first ones I took that morning didn't turn out because of humidity. I had to learn to deal with the humidity and wipe the lens before I could take any decent shots.

Honestly, things run together and I don't remember exactly what all we did that day! I know we looked for characters, but didn't see very many, so we planned on the last MK day we would find tons of characters. I think this is the day we went and saw Mickey and Minnie in the Theatre.

100_5594.jpg
[/IMG]

Lily was not scared AT ALL of them. I was sure she was going to have a melt down with all the characters with heads that don't talk come out, but nope!!!

We had to get undercover and eat because it started to rain really hard. We went to a small quick service place that had a cover and watched everyone get soaked for about an hour. I was so sad thinking the parade and fireworks would be cancelled, but 30 minutes before the show....it stopped! Of course by then we didn't have a good place to stand at all, but we crammed ourselves in there. Here is Lily getting ready for the show
100_5599.jpg
[/IMG]

Not sure why she felt the need to wear her shades, but maybe she thought the fireworks would be bright! Ha!

Lily and her Daddy just playing around. He loves that girl!

I love the castle at night. We loved the show, but Lily was honestly pretty afraid of the noise. We were holding her in that HORRIBLY hot dress, she was exhausted, it was soooooo hot, and she was crying for a good part of it. I kept smiling....and then she said, right before fireworks started..."mommy, I need to tee tee". Ummmm.....there is a crowd of 50,000 people packed around us and nowhere to move. Or breathe. I told her try to hold it (am i a bad Mommy?).....She covered her ears for most of the fireworks, cried a little, and I think maybe she ended up tee-teeing in her pants (ok, I am a bad mother), but we couldn't GET OUT! If I could have, I would have. Once it was over and I got her to the restroom everything on her was wet, so I couldn't tell if she had just sweated a bucket or had an accident. But no harm done. She washed, right?

Once we made our restroom run, the CM's were actually directing us out a "secret employee" exit!!! We didn't have to go through the crowds at the front! We made it to the bus stop, and this was the only horrible bus ride....there were a million Brazilian touring groups, the line was really long, we were really hot and tired and it was well after 11:00. One group leader got in a fight with the bus drivers and we were all packed in there like sardines. Not a fun experience, but really the only bad one we had!

On to Hollywood Studios tomorrow...

Great update! CRT always looks so beautiful!! Glad you guys were
having a great time!!!

The Belle dress story is soo cute! Your DD looks like a beautiful princess in her gown! Did she ever put her hands down or keep them out around the puffy dress all day? :)

The humidity kills us when we tour the parks, we are mid-day nappers too!

you are so right about needing to be an expert to vacation at Disney- well, it helps at least.
Your daughter looks so beautiful in her Belle dress. I love your story of her first castle view- what a great memory!
looking forward to hearing more!

A first trip is just too precious for words. Your pictures are capturing your family trip are amazing.

My first trip to WDW I was 4, and while I don't remember everything that happened that trip, I do have a few select memories - and the pictures my parents took help to make up for what I was too young to remember.

Joining in too! How fun!! I'm in Texas also (but not a teacher and the only things I'm consistently organized for are all Disney related! :lmao:) You're daughter looks like she was having such a great time! :thumbsup2

This is the first time Ive ever gotten teary eyed reading a post when your daughter got her dress so sweet!! She is very blessed to have you and you are blessed to have her I love magical stories like this :thumbsup2

Jumping in here, if that's okay. Your daughter is a beautiful Belle!!

My niece is named Lily, too, btw. Lovely name. :)

Thanks so much for the kind words. Lily is something special. She has opened our hearts to so many things good in this life. Adoption is not an easy path to go down, but it is so rewarding in the end.

Now...on to Hollywood Studios! We were so exhausted from MK the day before that we decided to not jump up and try to make rope drop. We didn't have any breakfast ressies so we ate in the resort food court. Pretty good food.

[/IMG]
I think we were the ONLY ones on the bus this time. We were on a mission to find the Playhouse Disney how because we knew Lily HAD to see the Little Einsteins......so off we went. Here are some pics of things when we first arrived there.
100_5629.jpg
[/IMG]
100_5631.jpg
[/IMG]

You will notice in many pictures Lily covering her ears. She is very sensitive to loud noises or higher pitched noises....so if you are wandering what she is doing....covering her ears! She also tends to do that when she has done something wrong and thinks she is about to get in trouble! :rolleyes1

100_5632.jpg
[/IMG]

We walked up to the Play House Disney show and walked right in.....Again, Lily loved the show, but covered her ears from the sound ......

[/IMG]

I get so tickled looking at this next picture. If you watch the Einsteins, you know they do this pat-clap thing and then you throw your arms up and say BLAST OFF, right? Check out the next pictures. SOMEONE was REALLY into the show! :rotfl:

100_5656.jpg
[/IMG]

Lily was needing a little Momma Loving after Captain Hook came out....so I obliged.
100_5667.jpg
[/IMG]

After the show is over, you get to meet two of the characters from the Einsteins. We met Leo and Annie. Lily was thrilled! Another highlight for her!
100_5672.jpg
[/IMG]

100_5673.jpg
[/IMG]

We tried to stand in line for Handy Manny twice, but both times he left before we could get up to him! We'll just have to come back for another trip!

We went and met Pooh by himself (we had plans the next day to meet all the Pooh characters)

100_5677.jpg
[/IMG]

We then went back to the resort to rest and eat lunch in our room. We had reservations for the Fantasmic show that night and our dinner at Hollywood and Vine was an early 4:40.......By this time, I was not feeling too great, but I was going to give it a try! And the weather was NOT cooperating with us.
100_5693.jpg
[/IMG]

So back to the resort we went for a short nap. A much needed rest....

100_5695.jpg
[/IMG]

Refreshed and ready to go...(ok maybe not quite refreshed) we dragged ourselves out of bed to head out. We watched a fun parade in Hollywood studios, walked around and looked at some sites. Watched part of the Mermaid show until Lily got scared for some odd reason so we left. We went to our dinner at Hollywood and Vine. All I can say, some like it, some hate it. We were in between .....for us, definately not worth the money we paid and Lily hardly touched anything.....except ice cream of course. We got our voucher for special seating at Fantasmic and that's when things started going down hill quickly.

100_5706.jpg
[/IMG]

We had to hide out under the big Mickey Sorceror hat FOREVER cause of a huge lightening and rainstorm.....like forever. With a bunch of other hot, impatient, loud people. We purchased the real Disney ponchos (threw away those cheesy lame Dollar Store ones) and tried to wait. and wait. and wait. Fantasmic was not until 9:00 and the waiting and watching rain was getting really old. So, horror of all horrors. .....we made up our mind to SKIP THE SHOW. I wasn't going to wait for two more hours undercover and have them cancel last minute. I wasn't feeling well anyway, so I sucked it up that we had paid that much money, and when there was a slight break in the rain, we donned our ponchos and rain for it. When we got near the entrance, look at what we saw. Unbelievable!!!
100_5708.jpg
[/IMG]

We actually went back to our resort.....beat all the crowds...shopped in the stores and played in the arcade. My husband won 1,000 tickets on one game. People gathered around and you would have thought he won the jackpot on a slot machine! Lily was happy because for a thousand tickets you can get four cheesy rubber ducky bath toys, a tiny metal purse, and two cotton finger rings....oh and don't forget the purple teddy bear that could fit in my shoe. Ha! But she was in heaven and her Daddy was her hero for the night.

We hadn't bought Lily's Minnie Mouse hat yet with years, so that was a must do right away. She wore it all of about 10 minutes, but by golly we got the hat.
100_5717.jpg
[/IMG]

Doesn't she look so excited here?
100_5714.jpg
[/IMG]

We had breakfast ressies at Crystal Palace the next morning. Our mission was to then find as many characters as we could for pictures and autographs, ride the teacups (requested by Lily) and then go from there. Crystal Palace was my second favorite part of our trip. Here are pics from our visit there.
100_5723.jpg
[/IMG]

Lily was still "warming up" to the characters....so Daddy took his pic with Piglet.

Lily's breakfast...so yummy. I loved loved loved the puffed french toast. The lady actually gave me the recipe!!!
100_5724.jpg
[/IMG]

Next came Tigger...
100_5725.jpg
[/IMG]

Good Ol' Pooh....

The next chapter is Meeting Tiana....and it is one of my all time favorite moments....

Love you DH enjoying the Disney Jr show! :)

Your DD looks sooo happy to meet Annie and Leo! She is a doll!

Probably a good idea to skip Fantasmic anyway-it seems like you had some fun family time :)

Lily has always loved Tiana. Because she is African American and we are caucasian, she loved to point out the simple fact that Tiana is "like Lily". She loves that she has a princess that looks like her. Melts my heart. So we knew we had to go on the hunt for Tiana. Let me tell you...that lady is NOT easy to find. She is in Liberty square on the "bridge" that is not really a bridge, hidden behind a jungle of shrubbery .....we asked a CM where and when to find her. He said only twice that day....one starting in ten minutes. We raced over there and there was really no need to race.....only one person in line in front of us. We waited about 15 minutes and she finally came out. The look on my daughter's face was priceless. She put her hand over her mouth and said, "I lub (love) her!" I just about died. Lily kept trying to cut in line to get to her she was so excited. Tiana was gorgeous. She spent a lot of time talking to Lily. When we walked off, Lily said, "She was bootiful".......she kept looking back to see if she was still really there. Perfect moment. She then told me, again, "she is like Lily".....Here are the pics....

100_5740.jpg
[/IMG]

Next, we went and found Donald Duck.

100_5742.jpg
[/IMG]

We rode the Flying Carpets and I thought I might possibly have a heat stroke at this point!!! Wow!!!
100_5746.jpg
[/IMG]

Aladdin and Jasmine were right there, so we had to go stand in line for a hug from them!
100_5750.jpg
[/IMG]
100_5752.jpg
[/IMG]

Lily wanted to ride the Teacups. I told her we wouldn't spin them.....Ummm? Can you say Wild Child? That girl started in my lap, moved to the seat next to me, then went all the way to the other side of that teacup and spun it like crazy. My husband was dying laughing cause I knew I was so dizzy!
100_5755.jpg
[/IMG]

We just happened upon Alice in Wonderland. She was precious. I love how Lily looks so big with her hands on her hips like she is having a serious conversation with her.
100_5760.jpg
[/IMG]

Beautiful smiles!!!
100_5761.jpg
[/IMG]

Funny story...we were just about to walk off from meeting Alice and here comes the Rabbit. He ran right up while we were still standing there so we got to take a pic with him, too!

100_5762.jpg
[/IMG]

By this time we were all melting, literally, so we walked around a bit more, got some ice cream, and then decided to watch the show in front of the castle before we left for our afternoon break.
Here are just a few pics....

More to come later....

The meeting with Tiana made me tear up. Thank you so much for sharing Lily's comments.

Am loving your updates! Lol at DH getting into the Play House Disney show!

Am so glad you found Tiana and aww loved reading about Lily's meet with her :cutie:

After a much needed nap and rest....we headed back to MK for our 6:25 ressie at Tony's. Even though we had an ADR....we still waited almost 30 minutes....but it was SO worth the wait. Lily and her Daddy colored and watched Lady and the Tramp while waiting.
100_5794.jpg
[/IMG]

We ordered the calamari and both of us got the lasagna. It was so huge but we managed to eat it....ALL!!! The diet was so out the window on this trip!
Lily got cheese pizza and off course we had to buy the overpriced yet adorable light up Tinkerbell cup!

100_5796.jpg
[/IMG]

There were not that many rides that we thought Lily would go on left, so we basically just walked around and checked things out. Lily did a little duck watching!

100_5806.jpg
[/IMG]

100_5808.jpg
[/IMG]

We decided to end our night a little early and get out of there before the parade started. On our way out, spur of the moment...we decided to take a ferry ride. I will post pics in just a bit. Have to go run and get Lily from Mother's Day Out!

we met the very same Tiana as you and she was the sweetest ever. I'm glad she gave Lily a memorable moment!
