Our first trip - how much can we do and still feel OK?

You can do SW in a day 0900-1700 then see Fantasmic that evening maybe?

I think you'll be fine to fit it into 2 weeks with Disney and Universal, IMO it's a more chilled park than the others. It probably isn't somewhere we'll return to until we have kids but I know many love it (I loved the animals and Kraken but not keen on the shows which is a pretty big part of it!) so if you really want to go I would say do it Weekdays are definitely better though, it's noticeably popular with the locals. If you decide you want to go once you're there then tickets aren't too badly priced at the gate so that could be an idea if you're not sure.
According to some posts i've read on here Columbus Day week from Tuesday onwards isn't too bad at Disney, just the Saturday/Sunday/Monday.

I went with my mum and dad a few years ago and did every thing seaworld universal island of adventure disney shopping and busch gardens never again needed a holiday when we got back we are planiing to just go to disney when we go next year as we are staying on site and staying off site on another trip and doing the other parks

I deffintly wouldnt do too much you dont want to put either of your selfs off going back by doing to much dont forget you got jet lag to cope with when you get home as well as a busy two weeks if you do all that

and stayin at AKL you def want to make the most of stayin by the pool a few times

also something to think about.. in October, one of the Disney water parks will probably be closed for refurbishment.. we went last Oct & only Typhoon Lagoon was open & BB closed .. if that gives you more time.

We are going to IoA and US this trip & possibly an afternoon outlet shopping, but decided not to do SW as thought it would be too much! ... i like to leave the World as little as possible too lol
